Hello, and welcome to Heart of the Pack!

Here is our Official Thread in the BC.

ᴀ ʟɪᴛᴛʟᴇ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴏᴡɴᴇʀ:: Hi, everyone. My Gaia name is SaevusVeritas [ which means Cruel Truth for those of you curious types ], but I prefer to go by V, Veri, or Veritas. I am 26 and attend college full-time to get a bachelor's in Cyber Security, which is basically 'ethical' hacking -- total oxymoron if you ask me. I moved back home recently to help my parents, as my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer and doesn't have much time left, so I apologize if I disappear for a day or three as he's in and out of the hospital.

I've been drawing since I was in like...second grade, and I'm an avid writer -- I've even had a short story or two published. I'm addicted to RP, and I've always identified with three animals for as far back as I can remember: Horses, Crows, and Wolves. And since I need a distraction-slash-escape from what's going on in my life, the idea of HotP was born.

I'll probably delete the above two paragraphs as the thread gets fleshed out a bit, but until then, nice to meet you all!

The Heart of Zareth.

It was the lifeblood of the First Pack. It was a magic that kept the seasons turning, allowed the Elements to remain in balance. The Varsythe knew not its source, only that it belonged to them and the world they inhabited. It was something ethereal, shapeless, without form, but not without order.

Once, before the reaches of memory, the Varsythe had been one: a Pack that had an indomitable will, unspeakable loyalty, unrivaled strength of heart. Back before the Shattering of the First Pack, the lands of Zerath were lush, bountiful, with prey and game easily accessible. They killed only what they would eat, and left the rest to continue their journey through life, as one day, their children would feed the coming generations of the Varsythe. The sun was bright and warm, the grass soft beneath the pads of paws, and the world was beautiful. The Varsythe cared nothing for worry or stress; they were happy, strong, and safe.

The one who kept them that way was their deity, the White Alpha, leader of the scattered First Pack. Omnipotent, wise, righteous and just. His mere presence soothed ill thoughts and unease, and where he walked, life bloomed in his wake. He drew his power from the Heart of Zareth. The wholeness of the world, the oneness of the Pack, the ever-changing seasons and the dancing of the Elements.

The White Alpha's howl brought the rise of the sun, and every night, the Varsythe would gather together, and sing as one. Their voices would twine together, rising up into the skies of Zerath, and at the crescendo, the Alpha would join in, heralding the end of Night. Thus each day passed; peaceful, harmonious, and filled with joy.

But there was one who was jealous of the White Alpha; his name now lost to memory. The Outcast Omega challenged his leader, with a myriad of Varsythe standing firm behind him. They wanted the Heart -- they sought only the power, and not the responsibility.

And for that the Alpha cursed them, and no longer were they Varsythe, part of the First Pack. They were the disobedient, disloyal, corrupt Vileclaw. With the remaining Varsythe -- now named the Vurfang -- loyal to him, the White One chased the Outcast and his followers from the land, swearing a swift and certain death if they or their progeny returned.

To ensure that the Outcast and his Vileclaw followers could never return, the White Alpha let loose a howl so thunderous and terrifying that the very earth trembled in fear. The land split apart, a long, bottomless scar torn into the ground. The Shattered Rift would keep the Vileclaw from the Vurfang lands, and any attempt to cross it would result in a horrendous death,.

With the First Pack shattered, torn in twain, and the Vilefang disappeared, peace settled across the lands of Zareth once more. Decades passed, then centuries, and eventually, the tale of the Outcast Omega became mere legend, a story told to misbehaving pups for its inherent moral: Honor the Alpha. As time flowed ever on, the turning of the world without event caused complacency in the Vurfang.

And then came the Vileclaw. Ordered back to Zareth by the Outcast Omega -- tricky, cunning, no longer the slinking, submissive creature the White Alpha remembered -- they migrated into the lands, rending and destroying all they could; for the White One had driven them from their home eons ago. They killed -- not to eat, but for the thrill, for the taste of bitter iron and heat of blood dripping down throats. They decimated the game population, all while driving southward, towards the Vurfang territory. And they left only destruction in their wake.

Their purpose? Kill the Alpha. For what he had done to them, driving them out to a world where the sun never rose, and the night was endless, he must die. But the White One had left the Vurfang long ago; simply disappeared one day with the promise that when he was needed, he would return. And so a fierce battle raged, wolf against wolf, as the Vurfang and Vileclaw each fought to serve their deity. All the while, they searched for their Gods; the Alpha was missing, and the Omega was hiding.

Now, a war rages on between the Fangs and Claws, each side battling to find and kill the God of their enemy. The Heart of Zareth was shattered the moment the Varsythe killed their own kind, and the magic that once brought harmony to the world now wrought only chaos. The Vurfang and Vileclaw evolved into creatures greater than what they once were, in order to compete for the lands of Zareth, and to reclaim the decimated Heart.

xxxxx● These Ranks are for each respective pack. As of right now, the only Mated pair are the Alpha Male and Female. Beta and Delta pair are selected specifically by the Alpha Pair, they don't need to be mated to one another, but their mates don't have any special privileges as of yet.
xxxxx● Ranks with a Moon [ ☾ ] beside them will have an RP requirement in order to keep their Rank, as they play an important role within the Pack and any Metaplots that arise in the future.
xxxxx● Lead ranks can be challenged IC or OOC [ if the Varsythe's user becomes inactive or leaves ]. If In Character, the Rank Challenge must be played out through dice. If Out of Character, then if there were someone who was interested in the rank and is active, then that Rank may be given to them. Also, if there are more than one eligible members, a contest of some sort or another dice battle needs to be done In Character.

xxxxx● There is only ONE Alpha Male per Pack.
xxxxx● He leads with his mate, if he has one. His word is law, and there will be harsh reprimands if one fails to comply with the Pack rules. The Alpha holds council with the Beta Pair as well as his mate if there's a decision that must be made that might influence the Pack in a major way.
xxxxx● Alphas usually set their Pack's territory, delegate who does what within the ranks, and are the very first to draw blood in battles or challenges.
xxxxxxxxAlpha Female::
xxxxx● There is only ONE Alpha Female per Pack.
xxxxx● Mate to the Alpha Male, she is second in command and rules when the Alpha Male is not around. With the help of council from the Beta Pair, she's allowed to make decisions for the Pack in the Alpha Male's absence. She rules the pack along side the Alpha, and her word is law when the Alpha is away.
xxxxx● The Alpha female can decide when and where to hunt, who takes care of the Pups, and delegates who hunts and forages. Alpha Females are considered wise and patient for the most part, as they more often than not are the ones to temper the Alpha's aggression.
