Shen only smiled, in that knowing (though not superiorly so) way. "I don't mind being outside," she remarked gently. A breeze passes by, carrying bits of ice and snow and miniscule droplets of mud along with it, until it curled around the pair and contented itself with playing over their hair. "And I would probably miss it if I stayed inside." Her smile slowly dropped until it turned into graveness. "All I can do is wait. It can only confirm or disprove; I have no part in the matter itself." Just an observer, a passerby, she thought to herself. Surely Anari would get into fits of rage if she heard of this, too. But Anari doesn't have to know; it's neither her interest nor her duty.

"Are you cold?" Shen asked, tone of voice slipping into concern, the change as flawless and sensible as a chameleon changing its color. "Head inside, if you wish; but I don't think you will be able to see it from any of the windows. Since you are here already, I'd rather not have you miss it."

That night, an entire continuum dropped out of existence, destroying billions upon billions of lives. And, of course, when something destroys, the excess souls must go somewhere. Some become will-o'-the-wisps, some become ghosts in the massive void. Still others pass on.

These children are those souls, the Illusionary.

This contest will run from Friday, March 16th, to Friday, April 6th! At least two Illusionary will be available, more if we have enough entries!

Basically...
Start: 16th March
End: 6th April
Illus Available: 2+

Rules and Information

-1- Don't discourage other entrants! Remember, the more people who enter, the higher your chance of recieving an Illusionary is!
-2- Pls 2 not b spekin liek dis. Not only is that hard to read, but it gives a lot of the judges a macroscopic headache.
-3- READ THE MAIN PAGE OF THE SHOP AS WELL AS THIS FULL PAGE BEFORE ENTERING. We had a problem with this in the flatsale and it was hard to go, "but they didn't read the front page" because it was such a good entry otherwise! Keep this in mind, PLEASE!
-4- Your friends can look at and suggest things for your concepts, but the bulk of the writing must be YOURS.
-5- Enter for yourself and yourself only. If it's found that you entered for someone else, both that person and your own entry will be disqualified!
-6- You can only enter once.
-7- PM the entry to this account, so Zige and Ever can both read it! But send the entry fees to the Illusionary Main account, so that Ever knows how many people paid and stuff ^ ^
-8- If you don't win, please don't be a sore loser. Stick around; there's always a next time!
-9- All shop rules apply.
-10- All Gaia ToG apply.

Basically...
BE A NICE PERSON.
General Info & Entry Form

So, you must be wondering, how exactly does this work? Well, if you read everything, you shouldn't need to ask this question any longer! Unless Zige does a really really bad job at explaining.

There are two Illusionary available from this contest if there are less than 10 entries! Unlike our flatsale, there are no slots at all, and all art will be done by evermore_crystal. The entry fee is a mere 1,ooo gold if you do not already have an Illusionary. For those who are already guardians of an Illusionary child, it is 3,ooo gold.

The entries will be judged by at least 2 judges based on points in 4 categories. These are:

Quote:
Creativity
Interest
(catching and maintaining)
Technical skill (is your grammar correct? did you use spellcheck?)
Depth of Study (if your character is a belly-dancer, did you really go IN DEPTH to find out about it? this also includes paying attention to color schemes already taken and looking at the directory.)

Now, to enter this contest, all you need to do is fill out the form below. Too easy? Don't forget that the prompt answer is included in there! After filling out the rest of the info, just pick two prompts you would like to answer to, and answer it in a story-format RP entry!

Name: (Illu's name here)
Gender:
Personality: (A paragraph or so would suffice. A bit more is fine. A short story is perhaps more than our workload can support at the moment.)
Six Traits: (Six traits you can't live without on your Illu. You can include more, but if you do, we might drop something from the list)
Backstory: (Veryvery basic. No novels; a page in MSWord would be more than enough, but originality and quality will be weighed heavily.)
Prompt #: (Which prompt are you answering?)
Prompt Answer:
Prompt #: (Your second prompt)
Prompt Answer:

And we give extra points for a quality guardian profile. HOWEVER. Do not go overboard! If your guardian's personality section is longer than your Illusionary's, THAT IS OVERBOARD GEEZ. Remember. We want to hear about the Illu, not about your guardian ;D

Example Form
Name: Aurelius
Gender: Female
Personality: Aure has an inflated ego. Some of it is well-deserved, such as in the case of her intellectual prowess, but other parts of it aren't; her pride of her height, her confidence in her sheer betterness than others... while she isn't vain, she likes to be the center of attention. She's definately not the girl who'll insist the center of the world is her teddy bear; she knows it's her, but occasionally puts her massive intellect to use by letting others nag the spotlight... but only if it puts her in a good light. She despises situations where she looks like the bad guy, mainly because she wants the good will of the people in her eventual takeover.
It's an understatment to say that Aure has a Napoleon complex. Something in her unknown past life has made her so insecure of herself that she has to be seen as better than everyone else, and she can't have anyone think bad of her- unless she wants them to, in the case of Mereneth.
Aure shows some strange tendencies... overfamiliarity with others to the point where she will make them uncomfortable, strange, offhand comments. Hopefully, it's just a quirk and will fade with time...
Six Traits: Blonde hair, dragonfly ears, bright green eyes, disgustingly tall, looks older than she really is~
Backstory: LALALALALALAAAA THIS IS FULL OF SPOILERS LAAAAAA.
Prompt #: Prompt number and the actual words of the prompt
Prompt Answer: BECAUSE THAT'S THE WAY OF LOOOOOOOOVE
Prompt #: Prompt number and the actual words of the prompt
Prompt Answer: DAAAIIIKENKAI! Best song EVAR. *raps*

Hopefully, yours will be lots better ^^;

Of course, you shouldn't have an Illu that overlaps with another unless you have the permission of the player. That means, keeping with the Aurelius example, you cannot have someone be one of her murderers. You cannot have her messiah-god NPC, Croatoan. You cannot have anyone that might become an NPC- that means no one who worked at her lab. It's also unlikely she had a significant rival, because she was the premiere scientist of her world during her time.

To make sure nothing crosses any lines, please consult our directory. Zige has been slaving away and it is mostly complete!

Character rips are bad- we don't want to see Balthier from Final Fantasy XII. However, you could have a CHARACTER from Ivalice. Although, technically, that world wouldn't be Ivalice, but rather more of a paralell universe. The entire Illusionary world (commonly referred to as the Old World, the world that all the Illusionaries came from), in fact, is made up of countless different worlds that are connected, yet do not have much contact with each other if at all (if you need an analogy, it's kind of like the Kingdom Hearts "dimension" wink . This means that your Illusionary's past can take place in any of these worlds, and anything can happen in these worlds. Bottom line: the history is entirely up to you, with virtually no restraints!

If you would like your concept okayed to make sure it does not overlap with any existing ones, feel free to PM this account. Hardly anything is more disheartening than being told something you've worked on for hours is invalid.

Should you happen to win, the fee is 10k. We'll be more than happy to discuss a payment plan if you need it.

Basically...
Artist: evermore_crystal
Entry Fee: 1k for those who did not priorly own an Illusionary; 3k for those who are current guardians
Prompts: Two per entry
Backstory: No restrictions at all!
Cosplay: No.
Concept Peeks: Sure!
Winner's Fee: 10k~
The Prompts

Below you you see two sets of prompts. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to choose one prompt from each set and answer it. Go forth, my child, and answer these prompts to the best of your ability in a story-like format.

Set 1: Life as an Illusionary
Prompt 1
Stage: Reverie

You are standing outside, watching the sky, when a star flickers and goes supernova. It lights up the whole world like it was daytime for just a moment, then everything goes dark. What happened? How does your guardian character react? And where did that little floating light come from?

Prompt 2
Stage: Child

Time to start school! But your child doesn't want to go. Why not? What do you do about it?

Prompt 3
Stage: Teen

With your child remembering more and more about who they were every day, they are sometimes a little moody. From their point of view (either first person or third person limited omniscient), describe an argument between the guardian and their charge- what is it over? How is it resolved?

Set Two: The Old World
Prompt 4
Your child's world had to end for them to become an Illusionary. Often, this means that the world ended with their death; what happened to your Illusionary's world to cause it- and the Illusionary- to die? Please note, you DON'T have to write this as your Illusionary. You could also write it as a deity of your Old World or an interplanetary historian.

Prompt 5
Describe a time in your Illusionary's past life that changed their take on the life they were living.

Prompt 6
Your Illusionary, as their original self, has been given the knowledge of how, when, where and why they shall die. What do they do about it? Note that this is not at all to be used as an actual roleplay post.

Q&A

How many Illusionaries will be coming from this concept contest?
Two new ones will definately come- after the first 10 entries we will add one more, and so on for every ten entries after the first 10! So it helps to make your friends enter too- it heightens your own chances!

Who's judging?
zigeunerweisen` and evermore_crystal are judging. There will be a tiebreaker judge chosen sometime soon.

Are there any restrictions?
Sadly, there are. Since it was a continuity of worlds that died and not many different worlds from different continuities, the winners will have to work with the others to decide what their collective world history was like and where each world split off.

WAIT! Continuity? Are there certain concepts I can't use then?
No! Not at all. Your concept can be ANYTHING- a continuity is simply worlds that share some history among them.
THIS HAS BEEN DROPPED. Of course, if you want to align things anyway, we will love you forever. But it's not anything you need to concern yourself with any longer.

Oh, so I can still use my flatsale concept?
Yes, of course you can!

How many prompts will I have to do?
Two of them. But keep in mind, this is a near-custom child-- you get 6 traits to pick, unlike the flatsale child! It's a prompt every three traits xD;

How much to enter?
1,000 gold. And if you win, a 10k fee is added- thusly, you get a semicustom child for 4k less than a child with a high price and less customization!!

Is that going to be open to owners as well? That would get the number of entries up.
Yes, it will be open to those who already own an Illu! HOWEVER. You will have a higher entrance fee (3k! Aren't we breaking the bank!) and a lower priority consideration than someone who does NOT have an Illusionary already! This is to bring in new owners to come play with us, and also to entice you to bring in your friends to the cult family!

How do we talk with the other contest peeps about the continuity?
Continuity will not be judged in the entries at all! Instead, once the winners have been picked and have recieved their Reveries, we will give you a nice isolated thread in which to set up your continuity.
THIS HAS BEEN DROPPED. Of course, if you want to align things anyway, we will love you forever. But it's not anything you need to concern yourself with any longer.

Does the character have to have been human/humanoid in their old life? And if they were not, will they manifest as illusions in the same form as in their old life, or will they look more human regardless of what they used to be?
Alright. Most Illusionary were humanoid in their past lives. but they do not HAVE to be- we had an excellent flatsale concept for a gazelle-like character! When they are reincarnated as an Illusionary, their Reverie may hint at their animal origins- for instance, Ean's Reverie was a swan- or not, it depends! But, most Illusionary will be humanoid, possibly with some animal features. As far as Zige knows, Mereneth and Veive are currently the most pertinent examples of an anthro-ish child (although Veive was, at one point, a fox...)

I still have no idea what an Illusionary is supposed to be. Could I have a character from a dead civilization on mars or something?
Yes, you could, provided their world was destroyed. Yes, that means the ancient civilization would count, as long as no facet of that civilization remained~ it's not always the entire planet going asplodey.

=) But like we said, no limits heeerrreee!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO INTEND TO ENTER!! heart
About the Judges | Tips from the Judges

zigeunerweisen`
Zige is a healthy part of your daily balanced breakfast. The Fruity Loops part. (and yes, she does go well with sugared grapefruit. Stop asking.) She likes unanswerable questions for the randomness that ensues. She despises fluffy endings to stories although she acknowledges that they can sometimes work out if the personalities allow for it.

Zige likes personalities that make sense in her writing. To quote EmperialTeal, no stern, gruff men with a melty heart of gold for their little princess, although that's more of a paraphrase. I want antisocial bitches that really ARE antisocial bitches, even to their friends! I want heartless bastards who toy with women but have moral dilemmas!

Hint- Zige loves moral dilemmas. It's the only reason she reads vampire fiction.

I like things that make me go "omg is that deer secretly a Bolshevik??" although it should probably be something more serious. But mostly, I want to see YOU shine through your writing! GIMME SOME PERSONALITY~!

evermore_crystal
Ever is a chronic sufferer of NISEOS (Neurodeficiency-Induced Square Enix Obsession Symdrome), and also happens to be infected with several other forms of obsessions, FUPS (frequent unproductive procrastinator symdrome), and illogical behaviors. The only cure seems to be long, uninterrupted hours of either arting, reading, or doing mathy stuff that actually require thinking (it comes free with having parents who think calculus and unsolved physics mysteries are the most interesting things, even more interesting than Asian soap opera). An entire day of gaming typically relieves the symptoms, but does nothing to alleviate the actual disease. Disruptions during such times of treatment may lead to unpleasant outbursts of various degrees or a prolonged period of blank staring.

Ever is known to flinch at almost nothing, even deer who're secretly Bolshevik and are plotting a bloody revolution to liberate the Internet and put it under complete government cencorship. Provided that such deer will be shot and killed, or even better eaten by a wolf, before the plot can directly affect her own bubble. She is probably willing to accept almost any concept with fairly little bias regarding the story's emphasis, as long as it makes sense. Logic is the biggie, followed by complex characters that actually follow the aformentioned logic. This does not mean that the character cannot be an utter lunatic; it is the "why is he a lunatic" that really matters. Things such as "OMG AND IT SHALL HAVE A RAINBOW TAIL BECAUSE ITS C00L" ticks Ever off very much.

Perhaps it is such an insistance on the suprimacy of thought rather than emotional appeal that makes some suspect that Ever had her heart eaten by a heartless which resides in her closet, along with a Corridor of Darkness. Those people have never seen that flood when she finished FFX. (Altough, that is a few years ago; the heartless might have attacked more recently.)

Despite what the above may suggest, Ever also enjoys moral dilemmas. It's what makes her admire even villains, if they have reasons to be justified. Ever's Emotional Wall is not easy to tip over; however, if you have managed to do it, you don't have to worry about anything else. That alone proves your pwn0rz skillz.

Bottom line: a maze is awesome, if there is an actual way to get from the entrance to the exit.

Question! biggrin !

Does your illusionary technically have to die?

Question! biggrin !

Does your illusionary technically have to die?

Not nessecarily (HOW do you spell that); for all intents and purposes they could've have simply been pulled out of the world before it died. Either way, the process reduces them to an illusion and wipes their memory for the time being.

But dying tends to make more sense. I guess it depends on what you are trying to do.
Alright, since THE Zige is not on, and therefor the real Ziggeroth cannot appear, I shall play puppet-master for now and proclaim this contest OPEN!

~Ever
Haha! thank you. And it's Necessarily biggrin !
