"How exciting..."
X was about to say more when a young brunette silently made his way into HQ, his good eye scanning the room for someone in particular. In mid search, he tilted his head to the side slightly, as if he was talking to someone behind him, though noone could be seen, and a couple seconds later he turned his head and immediately found what he was looking for.
Since she had been watching the whole time, X knew he had been looking for her, and motioned to the chair next to her, which after a few more seconds, the brunette sat down in, nodding a greeting to X. Shivering moments after he had sat down, X looked to her left curiously before brushing the feeling off.
"I'm glad you came."
"Well, a warm bed beats sleeping in an alley any night."
The young man gave her an appreciative smile as he watched her shiver slightly, causing him to sigh.
After X had felt that chill, she began to hear what sounded like a light, erratic heartbeat in the back of her head. Looking around, she wondered if anyone else was hearing it, or feeling just how damn cold it was in there. Okay, she wasn't exactly wearing a lot, but she normally didn't get this cold places. As she opened her mouth to say something, see if someone else was as cold as she was, she heard a male voice in her ear, and cold breath against her neck.
Can you hear it? Are you cold?
X only shivered in response, where the ******** was this voice coming from?!
Good. He's mine, so stay away.
Nyoka shivers herself, and opens her mouth to say something, but then the heartbeat that faded is replaced with another. This one soft, erratic, and irregular, unlike the steady heartbeat of before. "What is going on? HQ never used to be so . . . creepy!"
Jay rests a hand on Nyoka's shoulder. "You're a bit touched, aren't you?"
"Screw you, I'm not insane," Nyoka pushes his hand away from her. "Go home, dammit. Go bother one of the other people in the manor."
"Lenore told me to leave," he says, taking another drag from the cigarette.
"I don't care what mum said," Nyoka grumps.
"I second that Nyoka!"
X's eyes narrowed slightly as she looked from Nyoka, to her left, and then to her right, shivering from the cold. ******** she wanted a jacket, or a blanket or something.
A soft chuckle ringed in the back of her head, followed by the voice from before.
[******** this s**t. X turned her attention over to the young man, giving him a quizzical look, still shaking and shivering with cold.
"Do you feel the cold too, or hear the vo--"
Stay away from him! You can't have him!
X jerked as the voice interrupted her speaking as it screamed into her head. What the ******** was going on?!
"I'm used to it by now."
Peering at her with his eye, he just simply shrugged.
"I think I'll go get some air," Jay says, standing. He starts for the door. Those women, they are just a bit too creepy. . . .
"Is there someone else with you, Miss. X?" she asks. She heard another voice, but she can't place it.
Hearing Nyoka, X nodded almost violently from the shivers she was experiencing, and remembering the man's answer to her question, X turned back to him and gave him a crazy look.
"You're... used to it? But... what is it?"
"It's the ghost of my dead twin, his name's Devon, I'm Nathan."
The man spoke calmly as if this was an every day occurance for him, sighing soflty he continued on.
"He's not bothering you is he?"
"Damn you Nate."
The voice finally made itself known to those within earshot, there was still no figure, but his voice was clear as Nathan's or Nyoka's was.
"I'm so confused."
Then, she hears another voice. . . . Sounds of a struggle in Nyoka's head. A voice she knows as Khilar's from hearing him before.
'Get off me, sonnuvabitch. Get OFF! RUN, Ryian! Run!'
Nyoka shakes her head, and then she hears another voice. "Am I insane, or did everyone hear that last bit. With the name 'Nate' in it?"
She turns to Thorn, and clings to the only shred of sanity she thinks she has left. Normalcy, even, if you can call Aadil normal. "If I were romping with Aadil in the woods, I would not wear a blindfold. I would prefer to see him, as he is one of the handsomest men put on this strange world." She grins and shakes her head. "Mum's making me train."
Then, she is hit with a flash of memory. Kihlar shot, running like hell, guarding an older man, and trying to get him to safety. Can't tell who the older man is. . . .
"I-I think I need to go home. . . . I will see everyone when I am . . . feeling better."
She hastily makes for the door, stumbling, and actually falling once or twice on her way.. "Jill!" she calls.
"Jay.'
"Jay, if you don't want to hoof it back to the manor, you'll take my hand now."
With that, they both disappear.
"My brother was most likely ******** with you. He likes to do that."
"That still doesn't explain-- morning, I'm going to figure this out in the morning and you," She pointed her finger towards Nathan, "are going to help me."
She was still oh so very confused as to what was going on, but she stood up and motioned towards the door, which she waited for Nathan to exit before she hurridly left herself.
Before they had left however, they heard Devon growl as he zoomed through Nathan and through the door.
Nathan visibly shuddered, but said nothing about it, only staring at the direction he saw Devon go in.
"In the morning then."

X came in a bit frazzle to say the least, since she now had a ghost and his living twin brother living in her house. The two had apparently decided they liked the old manor and wanted to stay there for as long as possible. Okay, X can handle that... well maybe after a few drinks she could.
She looked around the HQ, hearing someone, but not really seeing anyone. Breakfast? The smell of food took her too the kitchen, and once she reached the door way, she leaned on the frame and peered in.
"Good, living people."
Angie came into HQ in her customary way -- you know, jumping over cracks, nearly slamming into the front door, running in screaming once she stepped down onto a crack to avoid the swinging door. The usual.
After catching her breath, the 'Taco Fairy' looked around HQ, steadying her bag on her shoulder. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a certain Fa'e.. "Solo, right?" She beamed, kneeling down to look more evenly at him. "And, and, it's Burrito Fairy! I mean X," she said, hurriedly correcting herself, and waved frantically at the other girl.
Aylee stopped stirring the... well could it even be called chop suey any more? Probably not, after all the molasses she put into it. Nevertheless people often agreed it was good, if a little sweet.
She looked up at the girl who was staring intently at the food she made, "Living... people? huh?" Well, yes, she was living... But was there any other kind?
Solo looked at Angie as she came in. It was the girl who had let him read that book before. His eyes brightened in the hopes that she would once again have it, when he heard the faint pop and felt himself pelted with a small amount of sand. He looked at this third person. He tilted his head to the side and stared at her for a while, wondering just how she had materialized.
X twitched as TF called her a 'burrito fairy' again, she was not a ******** burrito fairy, but she calmed down once she corrected herself without prompting.
Hearing what the girl in the kitchen had said, X nodded and groaned slightly, shivering at last night's memory.
"Yes living, as in not dead... You'll understand what I mean if you meet Devon."
As if on cue, a man about X's appeared age pushed himself in through the front door, his eye scanning for her, but this time she had turned enough to wave and catch his attention. With a nod, he began to close the distance between them, stepping over Solo in the meantime.
"Devon's here too."
"What are yall doing here anyways?"
"We followed you."
His tone was blunt and as if he were stating the obvious.
Aylee blinked at the girl again, staying silent. Dead? Well, that would mean ghosts. Souls that had never been claimed for reincarnation. Humm... Well, it wasn't too important, really. She looked down at the chop suey and started stirring it again, slightly confused but nevertheless insistent upon not burning the food.
Solo on the other hand was slightly miffed. Not only had he been splattered with sand, but this person had just stepped over him, as if he weren't there! He glared at the person as they walked towards some girl, another he had never seen before. Too many strange people!
Shaking his head he looked back up at Angie. What was she spurting out about wishes? And who was the creepy girl who had somehow appeared? He wasn't hurt, but...
Aylee could also hear the words of Angie. Loud, most obviously. She set her stirring spoon down and moved to where she could see the girl, "Hey Angie, want some chop suey?"
"But why'd you follow me here? Couldn't you find something to do at the house?"
Sighing softly, X looked up at him in confusion and slight annoyance, she didn't mind Nathan, but Devon seemed to have some sort of hatred going on for her already, and he made her cold. X put her hands on Nathan's waist and directed him to the nearest chair, lightly pushing him down on it. There, now she didn't feel as short. As she opened her mouth to speak, the heartbeat started in her head again and she got cold once more, causing her to shudder.
"Don't forget about me, and keep your hands off him!"
Figuring his surprise was broken anyways, he might as well speak openly and scare other people. Though Devon couldn't be seen, his voice was angered and loud enough to be heard accross the room.
Nathan just shrugged and ignored his dead brother, it was his fault things were like this anyways.
"We were bored."
Angie blinked at Aylee, still clinging to Chiri's arm. "..chop suey? Whazzat?" Deciding to go investigate, she slid her bag off her arm, setting it down in front of Solo. "If you wanna read, my book's in there," she grinned, pointing to the visible lump in her bag. Though just as she was going to follow Aylee back into the kitchen, she heard a voice...of a person who wasn't there..?
Looking around confusedly, she wandered over to X (completely forgetting about chop suey in the meantime, might I add), sheepishly hanging around close to her. "What..do you know what that was..?"
Aylee jumped slightly as she heard the voice, and looked around a bit confusedly. It was definitely a male voice, but she could only see two males in the room, Solo and that boy who the girl Angie called 'X' was with. She shut off the burner and followed Angie over to where they were located, then glanced around, "Uhhhm... I have to ask excatly what Angie did. What the bloody hell was that?"
Solo, too, had heard the voice, but he was less concerned with it. He grabbed Angie's bag and pulled the book out. It was heavier than he had last remembered, but it did have over three hundred pages... Now where had he left off?
"That... was--"
X had been cut off again by Devon, and was beginning to become a bit irritated.
"Me."
Angie and Aylee would feel a dead cold envelope them as long as Devon was near, along with a faint, erratic, yet constant heartbeat in the back of their heads.
"That would be my dead brother Devon."
Nathan was calm and quick to explain in his bored voice, crossing one leg over the other as he leaned back in his chair and watched the firey looking boy with his eye.
"Yeah, what he said."
Angie blinked, then clung to Aylee, blubbering madly. "NoooIdon'tlikethedeadandthevoicesmakeitstopmakeitstooop.."
Aylee blinked and tilted her head to the side. Dead, eh? So that was what the girl had been talking about. She shook her head slightly, trying to rid herself of the obnoxious beating noise, but soon stopped, not only realizing that it wasn't going to stop, but that Angie was clinging furiously to her arm. She glanced at the girl and smiled, "Don't worry. It'll be all right." The dead didn't particularly bother her, but... Well, either way it didn't matter. This kid Devon was near, and there was probably nothing they could do. Either way this kid Devon didn't sound to pleased at the moment.
Solo flipped through the book, glancing at the stories. He'd already read so many of them. Some were worth reading over, but right now he just wanted to read something new. Finally he came to a part that he hadn't yet read and starting scanning the pages.
"Meh.." Angie shook her head and slowly pried herself off of Aylee's arm, steadying herself before attempting to 'see' what exactly was freaking her out so much. As she stared in one spot in particular, her eyes went out of focus and widened almost ridiculously, making her look quite odd. Trying to maintain this form of sight, she twisted her head around a bit to try to see Devon, and shrieked and jumped back once she realised that her 'technique' had actually worked for once. "You..you're mean," she stuttered, waving a finger in the spot where she had sworn she had seen the ghost.
<She seems to be afraid of me, should I have fun with her?>
Devon spoke into X's mind while he continued to pass around the other two women, making a slight chill breeze spin around them.
X's eyes went wide with Angie's sudden freak out, causing her to back up and almost trip into Nathan's lap in the process, but Nathan's hand had already reached out and steadied her by the arm. Yes, warmth, she liked that Nathan didn't make her feel like she was inches within death.
"No Devon, as much fun as you think it may be, I don't think--"
"Don't touch him!"
The voice interrupted her speaking again as he saw Nathan's hand on X's wrist.
This was the last straw for X, she had put up with enough of his possessive bitchings, shaking Nathan's hand from her wrist, X moved in the direction of the cold, the heartbeat getting louder in her head. She didn't care, and when she spoke, her voice was scarily calm yet stern, and her eyes were definately not their normal purple, instead they glowed an angry black.
"No you listen here Devon, I'm giving you a home to live in and food for your brother. I am not trying to steal him from you, I'm married, taken, not available, and therefore... not interested in him like that. So quit flipping out each time I talk to him or we get near each other, save yourself the worrying."
And through all of this, Nathan merely glanced up once as X shook his hand off, shrugging, and then returning his attention back on the firey kid.
Biting her lip, Angie backed up a little, then turned around and ran back to Solo. "'Ey, kidlet, mind if I join you?" She forced a smile, trying to shake the feeling of..you know..dead people. She didn't like dead people much. They bothered too much already.
Solo looked up at the girl who was speaking to him. It was the weird girl again. What did she want this time? Shrugging, he held up the book. It was a collection of fantasy stories that Angie had let him see, but he hadn't managed to get through all of it the last time they met.
Aylee blinked at X as she stalked towards something she couldn't see. The dead kid obviously had an attitude problem, but his brother seemed like the dead one. So far he hadn't shown any sort of emotion that she could see. Aylee gave a slightly frustrated sigh and looked back at the stove. Her chop suey was getting cold, and she figured Solo was hungry...
But... Well, somehow all of this was intriguing.
Solo perked up as he heard Angie's voice. He shrugged slightly at her question. He didn't care too much.
Shutting her eyes in slight relief, she flopped down on a nearby beanbag chair, rolling onto her side and curling up into a ball. She was the Taco Fairy, invincible! Yet defeated. By a dead dude. A mean dead dude, she thought, angrily. If she could see him, she would..do really bad happy stuff and make him go away. Yeah! Wait, that makes no sense. Nothing really makes sense, she thought dully, rolling onto her back and stretching a little. She peered over at Solo and the book, sitting up again. "What page're you on?"
Devon blinked, in shock that a living girl would stand up to him, he even looked down to her left hand, seeing the ring and confirming her comments. She really had just been helping them?
"Hmph. Just don't try any funny business or else I'--"
This time he was cut off, but not by X, by his brother's calm and soloum voice. Nathan's attention had finally turned back to his brother and X.
"Devon, don't take it out on her, and I trust her so you should try to. Remember, I told you I'm the blame for this."
X just blinked back at Nathan, who had finally spoken up, and for her for some odd reason, now she was even more confused.
Solo watched as Angie sat down, then showed shrugged again, "223," he said. He was still skipping around a lot, but that was the page he was on. Solo glanced at Chiri. He was sick of people telling him he was smart. Who cared anymore? Aylee said he had to put up with it, though. And now another person had come in! He wondered vaguely if there had ever been so many people in the building that they couldn't move around anymore.
Aylee glanced at Nathan as he spoke. He reminded her of a character from a story she and a friend once wrote. They had the same name, too. Perhaps the only difference was that the Nathan in the story was insane and being manipulated by his equally insane girlfriend. Thank god they had created Eric.
Shaking her head to rid herself of random thoughts, she started moving towards the coldness. She soon had isolated the general area where the dead boy, Devon, was located. She flitted around him (or as much as a person without wings can flit), her head tilted to the side. Finally she said, "It's odd how the dead work, isn't it?" Alright, so the statement didn't make much sense. But either way.
'Why isn't this girl afraid of me? Living people are supposed to be scared of ghosts right?' Devon thought to himself as the girl surrounded him it seemed. He could just phase right through her if he wanted, but that would mean he was running away, and he wasn't a ******** coward.
"How would you know? You've never been dead."
The voice was curt and spiteful, forgetting for the moment that Nathan was indeed with hearing range.
Nathan's head tilted down as he brought his right hand up to his sewn eye, now 'healed', running his fingertips over the metal thread silently. It had been his fault, he had killed his brother... his twin, and it was his fault that Devon is as he is now.
Devon's tone suddenly changed to a more happy go lucky tone after he noticed Nathan's motions.
"I mean... uh, it's not that bad really, since you get to phase through objects and scare people..."
Angie grinned. "That's a good story.. I think," she blinked, leaning back into the cushion and peering around the room. She noticed Aylee who was probably talking with..the..dead dude.. "Uh, I'm gonna go check on the chop suey," she called, prying herself out of the chair and scurrying into the kitchen.
Aylee blinked and stopped moving, staring at the general space where the voice had come from. The boy's mood seemed to have changed quickly. Interesting. He reminded her a bit of Solo, whose personality seemed to be getting darker every day. "Hmmm? Well, I assume it would be interesting. Never said it was wonderful though. Just that it's odd how the dead work." She gave a one shouldered shrug. She liked this kid.
Solo watched as the other girl retreated. Hummm... He hadn't even learned her name. She seemed to be scared of him or something. No, scared wasn't right. Embarrassed? Maybe, but still not accurate. He couldn't think of a better word, however, as his vocabulary still wasn't great.
Then Angie got up and left. Were they all bothered by him or something? Well, it didn't matter. It gave him more time to read. With that, he turned back to his story.
X watched Nathan's reaction and frowned slightly, eye for an eye she assumed. Carefully reaching out, she wrapped her hand around his and pulled it away from his sewn eye, giving it a light squeeze in comfort.
This girl was being friendly to a ghost... weird.
"Interesting is an understatement, but it's fun I guess... It can't be changed."
Nathan gave X a curious look as she grabbed his hand, but it did make him feel better for the moment, but it didn't change the fact that he had killed the closest thing to him.
Aylee stared at the ceiling and shifted from foot to foot, "Well I think it's interesting. Wish I could see you though." She stopped moving and watched X and Nathan, "Humm... I wish I knew what it was like... Meh..."
She shrugged again and started shifted from foot to foot again, "Meh." She glanced at the empty space again where she assumed the ghost was, "Sooo... I know it's probably really really personal and you'll probably hate me for asking, but... Uhhhm.... I'm really really curious... Uhm... Why are you dead?" She blinked at the empty space, prepared to probably be snapped at.
Solo stood and picked up his book. He glanced back up at the man who was... Doing something to the thing he was holding. It looked like he was taking it apart? But why? Solo approached him, curious as to what it was exactly that he was playing with.
"It's not something to wish for..."
He chuckled in attempts to ease the moment, but abruptly stops when he hears her next question, trying to figure out how to answer.
"I shot him."
Nathan interrupted the two's conversation, in attempts to save his brother the akwardness of explaining his death.
"Not on purpose, but it still happened."
X just watched silently, not sure of what to say.
Aylee blinked. That wasn't something she had been expecting. She looked at Nathan and tried to think of something to say. Finally she said, "Sorry. I really shouldn't have asked." He cheeks were red, embarrassed that she had asked them something with an answer like that. She moved her hands behind her back and shifted from foot to foot again, at a loss of anything else to say. She didn't want to make herself an idiot or ask anything like that again.
"Don't worry about asking that... It's a common question, and we're just not a common answer I guess..."
Devon's voice seemed as though it was covering up some type of hidden pain, no matter how happy it seemed.
"I think that it is time to go, if you will excuse us?"
And with that, Nathan stood up off the chair, and after nodding briefly to X, he left out the door, the cold feeling and heartbeat slowly leaving those around them.
Bye...!
Aylee watched after the man as she felt the cold feeling leave and no longer heard the heart beat in her head. She blinked and turned to X, "Sorry, I... Didn't mean to.... uhm..." She blushed and stared at her feet.
Don't feel bad, they just outright told me this morning... I wake up, and hear their life stories... very freaking and depressing... I'm still getting used to them myself."
X gave Aylee a smile and a slight shrug of her shoulders as she watched them leave, or rather, she watched Nathan leave.
"Hey, at least we're not cold anymore..."
Aylee shrugged, "Mmh... I didn't really mind the cold. They're very interesting, though." She glanced at X, "I envy you." She suddenly realized that she and the girl standing next to her hadn't been properly introduced, "Oh! Sorry, I forgot! My name is Aylee, nice to meet you." She smiled and held out her hand.
Solo took the card and watched the man leave. He couldn't wait! He wanted the glitchen now. Well, a week wouldn't be too long now, would it? He glanced around for Aylee and saw her talking to a woman he had seen earlier.
"You envy me? But why...?"
X was positively confused as to why she was being envied, this girl was the gaurdian of a Fa'e, while she had just taken on a man and his dead brother. Reaching out and shaking the girls hand, she also introduced herself.
"I'm X... pleasure to meet you, but I must be going, make sure those two don't destroy my house."
And with that, X waved goodbye and disappeared outside of the door.
Aylee nodded at X as she left. In fact, she and Solo needed to be leaving as well, it was getting fairly late. She moved over to Solo's location and took the small card from him, "What's this?" she looked it over, "Moorgahaine? Hrrm..." She looked down at the small fa'e and then reached down and picked him up, "C'mon, lets go home." She and the small fa'e left the HQ for the night, but would probably return tomorrow. Aylee wanted to talk to some of those people some more, again.

Aylee watched after the man as she felt the cold feeling leave and no longer heard the heart beat in her head. She blinked and turned to X, "Sorry, I... Didn't mean to.... uhm..." She blushed and stared at her feet.

10/8/04
It was 3 in the morning, and X surprisingly was still awake, in fact she was nowhere near the point of falling asleep. The twins were still on her mind, and even though she was pretty sure that the last thing either of them wanted was pity, she couldn't help but feel bad for them and their situation, as ******** up as it was.
Hearing a noise outside her room, her thoughts were interrupted and her attention was averted towards her door, and after a moment of staring, it quietly opened as a tall, male figure walked into her room. X's mind quickly began to whirr, if minds could whirr that is, as she watched the figure get closer too her bed. It was too dark to see anything too well, and he still wasn't close enough to the point where she could tell if it were Monkey, who she had banished to the couch for the night, or the only other male that tall currently in the house, Nathan.
Just a few steps later and she confirmed that it indeed was the latter, and now she was just confused. X's confusion got even worse as Nathan mythodically climbed ontop of the bed, not under the covers but ontop of them, and somehow curled his taller frame snug against X's, letting his head rest above her heart.
X just blinked and paused for a second before cautiously wrapping her arms around him and hugging him to her in a comforting fashion. It was moments before she could even think or muster up something to say, but finally, she whispered softly, "Are you okay Nathan?"
"I don't like being alone, but I have to... I have to and it's my fault. You have a strong heart. Did you know that? Very steady and comforting, and taking us in too... you're a very nice woman. We are very lucky, I'm sorry he acts like he hates you, that's my fault too. I'm never going to hunt again...never." Nathan rambled to her in an unsure voice, shaking and nodding his head in various appropriate places, while X just listened and held him, her confusion mounting even more.
"Hey, you don't have to be alone anymore. I mean, I know I look young... but if you wanted a mother....like...figure..." She just trailed off, hoping that she hadn't said something to upset him. He was obviously depressed, but since she didn't know him too well, she couldn't figure out the best way to comfort him. So X adjusted her left arm around him, pushing some of his hair out of his face.
"That would be nice I suppose, we never really had parents..." Nathan drifted off as his eye caught glance of the long scar on X's inner wrist, it looked familiar, self done. "Did you do this?" Reaching out, he traced his index finger over the prominant scar, causing X to avert her attention from him and to her left wrist.
"Yes, I almost died too...but someone brought me back from the brink of death, and now I'm here." X wasn't ashamed, she just merely explained to him the general idea of what had happened, no need to go into details.
Her heartbeat was nice and it was soothing him, making him sleepy too, but he was curious about X's wrist. So she cut too? Then he wasn't alone there either, she'll surely understand why he scars himself, won't she?
"Sometimes I wish I could die, join Devon, but he won't let me because he doesn't want to see me get hurt and to end up like him. I cut, all the time... well when I find the knives and razors that Devon hides from me, like I said he doesn't want me to hurt myself, but I try and tell him that it doesn't hurt... that to me it feels--"
"Good." X interrupted and finished simply. "I understand Nathan, it feels good to have control, to be able to release, but I also understand that he loves you and doesn't want to see you hurt yourself."
Nathan just blinked and paused for a second, just listening to her words, nodding slightly and hugging her tighter. He liked this woman, very understanding.
"Yeah, I... wish I could bring him back. I failed him, so many times. I deserve punishment, but is it wrong for my punishment to feel good deep down? I... I even fail at punishment..." His voice got quiet as he trailed off and closed his eye, focusing on the comforting sound of her heartbeat. 'Help me.' he pleaded with her heartbeat, or maybe her, he didn't quite know either way, other than either her words, her heartbeat, or both her heartbeat and voice, were comforting him in some fashion. "Thank you..." It was all he managed to get out as he was lulled to sleep, it was very late by that point and he had been tired from the wandering in the streets.
X nodded and ran her fingers through his hair in response, hoping that she had done some good with her words. Though still confused in general, she was beginning to understand some things about the pair. Understanding was good, X didn't like being confused all too much, but her 'best friend' instincts took over the moment she caught the tone in his voice. Sighing softly, she leaned her head against his and tried to get to sleep, careful not to disturb him in the meantime.
Devon had witnessed the entire thing, and though angry at first for X trying to 'steal' Nathan away from him, he stopped when he overheard their conversation and realized X indeed wasn't putting moves on his Nathan, but was trying to make him happier. So Devon just watched and listened, careful not to get too close as not to make either of them knowledgeable to his presence. Maybe this girl wasn't so bad at all?

Nathan's Journal
I haven't written in this journal for a rather lengthy time period, since before X took Devon and I into her house, which I must admit is a very nice and warm house. It certainly beats the streats if you must ask me. Anyways, X hasn't spent much time with us lately, which doesn't bother me because I have had time to explore this monsterous house, as well as cook and clean a bit. From what I've seen, most of her time is being spent with a young girl named Zanna, who just appeared one night.
I suppose I should meet her sometime, but I'm afraid Devon will scare her, since she is so young, and since Zanna, no matter how hyper and stubborn she is, seems to be making X happy, I don't want Devon to change that.
Speaking of Devon, he hid my ******** razors again, and with X busy with her husband, something I definately wasn't going to go anywhere near, I had nothing to do but sit, think, and write...though not in my journal. Maybe I'll transcribe them some other time when I'm depressed and Devon's a meddling b*****d again.
Sweet, X's left so I can get to cooking and surprise cleaning, and maybe I can find a few new razors while I'm at it.

Nathan was in the kitchen stacking pancakes on various plates when X came through with a smile, she loved pancakes and was horrible at making them, so Nathan was a godsend as far as cooking went.
"She'll be down soon...No being an a** Devon or I'll steal Nathan from you."
X peered over towards the direction of the colder part of the room and gave it a warning glare before she moved over to Nathan and stood on her tip toes to give him a quick motherly kiss on the cheek, which elicited an eye roll from him. Sticking her tongue out, X took a plate of pancakes and made her way over to the kitchen table where a glass of milk was already set up at her spot, along with silverware and whatnot.
"You're a cooking godsend Nathan, and Devon... over here where I can feel you."
A teenagerish groan of dissappointment and whining came from the doorway to the kitchen, but in a few moments X felt the chill and heartbeat in the back of her mind. "Much better," she murmered softly. Nathan just smiled at the cooking compliment, glancing up at 'Mom' for a moment before returning to his pancaking.
No sooned had Devon moved his ghosty a** out of the doorway did Zanna quietly walked through it, bringing both X's attention and Nathan's eye to the young girl. Zanna approached X and her pancakes first, but quickly turned to Nathan when her mum had motioned towards the Pancake King and she noticed the pile of plates o' pancakes around him.
"Pancakes!" She hurried her butt over to Nathan, climbing up to the counter via Nathan's leg and grabbing a plate, hopping down and to the kitchen table easily while flashing the PK a grin of thanks. Zanna was still very confused as to why she still had that drawing, which she had torn out and shoved into the back of skirt, but the pile of pancakes had her hunger occupied for now. Once Zanna seated herself, she dug into her pancakes at lightning speed it seemed, earning her a strange side glance from X, who was eating just as fast, maybe even faster than the young reflection of her.
Nathan just chuckled and brought himself, two stacks of pancakes, and the milk jug over to the table, sitting himself down where Devon had situated himself with a slight shiver, the heartbeat comforting him no matter how cold he was. Besides, this way Nathan could keep an eye on Devon himself without having to actually watch him. As Nathan finally started his first pancake, Zanna had just taken a huge swig of milk after her last bite of her last pancake, sending a proud grin over to the Pancake King while ignoring X, who had finished before the young girl.
"Who are you?" Zanna chided, finally aware that she had never met this man before and he was living in her mum and dad's house, sure she had seen him occasionally, but never really talked to him.
Nathan moved to speak, but X beat him to it.
"That's Nathan, he's your big brother." She stated simply, snatching the second stack of pancakes from the 'brother' with an innocent grin and a look that said 'it's good for you.'
His eyes went wide as he tried to compute what X had just called him, along with the situation that put him in. He and Devon had a family.... a real family, and he was a part of it! Nathan didn't know whether to be happy or depressed, but he chose the former with X's smile and the look that she was giving him, so he beamed before returning his eye to Zanna.
"Yep, I'm one of your brothers, just like Slush."
Zanna grinned happily, she liked Slush, but she missed him being gone all these days, even though X had told her he was on 'vacation'. She liked Slush so if Slush was her brother, then Zanna decided that she'd like Nathan because he was her brother as well, and because he was the Pancake King.
"Nice to meet you Pancake King."
The Pancake King was still adjusting to the fact that he now had a permanent family, an apparently new nickname, and the fact that they accepted him and Devon, who's hearbeat had quickened at the mention of them being brothers. He too was happy to have a family, even if he was dead, X didn't treat him as such.
Zanna smiled and turned her attention towards X, who was relishing inwardly over her victory in making Nathan smile and Devon behave, not noticing Zanna's movements till the little girl spoke up.
"Mum...?" She started off cautiously, how was she supposed to tell her mum that she just had a dream where she drew something that wasn't there, and then found the drawing in her bag that was across the room. It freaked her out, but she really wanted that little house that seemed to be built just for her, and she wanted it so bad that she decided to ask her mum for it. Pulling out the picture from her skirt, she layed it on the table and pushed it to X. "Can I have a house like this by the willow?"
The vampire took the picture and peered at it, getting only a vague idea of what the 'playhouse' should look like, but she smiled and nodded anyways.
"I think we can work on it, I'll talk to some people and get a sketch drawn up, so we can get to building it."
X had the urge to dote upon her 'daughter' so she damn well was going to do it, even when she had no clue how to build anything. Taking the drawing into her pocket, she gave Zanna a grin before leaning back in her chair and speaking again.
"I'm not much of a builder, but I promise I'll get the family and some friends to help with it. We could even make it a party, what do you say?"
Zanna grinned and nodded, happy that X didn't ask about where she had gotten this strange idea from and that she was getting a party out of it as well. Her mum seemed too excited now for that thought to even cross her mind, since she was already chattering with Nathan, who was leaning back in his chair with an amused look, about party plans and what not.
"Thanks Mum."
Before she could be pulled into the planning, Zanna hopped off of her seat and made her way outside for the day, her dream still ladened in her mind. Leaving Nathan stuck with the chattering, party planning X.

[Nathan journal entry]
So Slush and Isto are getting married, there love seems to be rather strong considering how young Slush is compared to Isto, not to mention how long they've been dating. It baffles me, but then again so do yesterday's sequence of events. I guess I ended up helping indirectly, of which I am glad, but this only reminds me of X and how her marriage seems to be falling apart.
Though I am lucky and very happy to not be hearing their noises at night anymore, I am also sad for X, she is a very special woman that works harder than she should. Maybe I should help out more around the house. I mean, I hope she noticed how I helped Zanna with her reading and whatnot, even though the girl ended up watching TV anyways.
Anyways, I'm very glad that X is now my--our agent, and I may in fact take up singing once more, but for that I need to write a few songs first so we'll see on the whole song thing. Devon seems to have actually taken a liking to her as well, he listens to her when she asks him to do things, but maybe that's because she threatens to steal me away from him.
Surprisingly, that thought doesn't sound too bad at the moment, but who would like someone like me? Someone who's done what I've done, sinned my sins. No one, and Devon makes sure to keep it that way usually... Maybe... Devon getting along with X is a sign, plus X never treats me different, nor does she ignore looking me in the eye. Hmm.. I'll have to think on that, but for now I must cook dinner and get ready to babysit some more, as a favor to her...

A semi-loud thud was heard from the living room, perking Zanna's curiousity from her seat with Nathan, who had graciously agreed to help Zanna with her reading and writing, in her room, and seconds after the thud the young girl was up and out of the room and heading towards the living room. Nathan just let a smile tug at the corner of his mouth as he too stood up and followed her, though not at the same excited pace, since he was pretty sure what it was since X had been shifting funds around recently for a 'big purchace.'
His eyebrow raised curiously when the settled on the Halloween styled and very ornate pot, which appeared to have a strange liquid in it, and in shifting his eye upwards, he came across a beaming X with her hands on her hips. At least she seems to be happy with the pot of orange goop, and if she was happy, then so was he, besides it wasn't his money she spent.
"You're an interesting woman..."
Shaking his head, Nathan turned to look for who he had originally be following, while X just stuck her tongue out in an intentionally obvious childish gesture.
"You'll see... wait a week or so..."
Scoffing, X gave Zanna, who had apparently found herself something to occupy herself, a light smile, and then Nathan a cheeky grin before she left the living room, leaving poor Nathan with a pot of 'goop' and a Zanna who seemed to have a fox like creature crawling all over her. Okay, so nothing to serious, Nathan smiled and turned to sit down when something clicked, Zanna was being mauled by an unidentified fox like thing! Snapping himself around, he was about to snatch the fuzzmauling thing off of Zanna when he heard her giggling, and then noticed that the fox was not mauling her, but playing with her.
"Can't anyone be normal in this house?!"
This coming from a man who sewed his own eye shut and has a crush on his agent, not to mention is the Pancake King and responds to that name as much as his own. Too bad X wasn't there to make fun of him, that would have been the cherry on the top. Blinking for a moment, Nathan looked back and forth between the pot and the girl being attacked by the kitsu, which was now squealing in delight, before shaking his head and exiting the same way X did. Might as well bloody cook dinner.
Meanwhile Zanna had discovered Mikazuki, or Zuki for short, a kit kitsu that X had won a while back as an egg, and now finally hatched it was a beautiful, energetic kitsu, who apparently was quite fond of Zanna now. And once they had finished their rambunctious meeting, Zanna finally stopped giggling and scooped up the kit, standing up before walking to the couch and plopping down on it, kit in lap. There Zuki curled up in Zanna's lap, and fell asleep knawing on the ties on the young simu's skirt, and not moments later was the Discovery channel on and occupying Zanna's attention. Ironically, there was a show about foxes currently on, and the young girl sat transfixed for its entirety. X had just found herself a new babysitter.

X walked through the front door with a growl and was surprised to see Nathan sitting at the bottom of the grand staircase, apparently waiting for her, her temper cooling somewhat, she couldn't take this out on him when he didn't even do anything.
"Zanna's already in bed... and Devon's spying on Slush and Isto, I'd assume that they were in his room..."
Speaking before she could ask her questions, Nathan gave a cheeky grin, one he no doubt learned from Slush and Isto, the fiancees of the household. Nodding, the best she could do at the moment, X gave him an appreciative look, still obviously upset about her visit to HQ, but having everything done when she got home made things a little better for her.
"Oh and there are leftovers from dinner I can heat up for you...maybe even cook you up something new if you want...?"
Surprised at his consideration, X gave him a faint smile and nodded, and noticing X's demeanor, Nathan stood up and easily closed the distance between the two of them, embracing her in the middle of her next statement.
"Thanks love, leftover sound go--"
X wasn't expecting the hug, and nor was she expecting Nathan to lean down and nuzzle slightly against just under her left shoulder, she had to admit though, and hug was what she needed currently, so she wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him back, leaning her chin against his head. After a few minutes, X relaxed her arms and pulled away, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek before she murmered.
"Thanks, I needed that...So where are those leftovers...?"
Nathan smiled, wishing that he could stay there and listened to her heartbeat for a little longer, but she seemed happy with the idea of food, so he made off towards the kitchen, letting his hand rest on her upper back as if to push her with him. X chuckled softly at his actions, finding them amusing, he sure had opened up a lot more ever since the first time they met.
Once they reached the kitchen, Nathan ducked into the fridge and pulled out various tupperware containers, then grabbing a plate and scooping some of each of her favorite things onto the plate. He had been watching her eat ever since he had come here, making mental notes as to which things she liked to eat more than the others. After sticking the plate in the microwave, Nathan turned to X and leaned onto the counter.
"Want to watch a movie while you actually have time to relax? You've been working yourself pretty hard lately, what with Zanna's party and the whole Slush and Isto ordeal...you deserve a break..."
X smiled and was about to respond when he shushed her and moved over to her, pushing her towards the living room while she attempted to protest.
"Nevermind... you're going to relax and watch it, I'll bring you your food when it's done... you just pick a movie out..."
X finally stopped protesting and went into the living room with a laugh, shuffling through the DVDs till she picked one that she thought might suit them both. Meanwhile, in the kitchen Nathan had gathered some silverware, a breakfast tray and a glass of water, and after he organized everything onto the tray, he followed her into the living room, finding her already sitting on the couch with her feet propped up on the coffee table. A movie was starting as she patted the couch next to her and gave him a friendly smile.
"It's the third Lord of the Rings... does that sound good?"
Nathan smiled and set the tray down on her lap carefully before sitting down where she had patted, sliping her a smile.

~*~

When X had finally finished and set her tray onto the coffee table, Nathan moved to take it into the kitchen for her, but she placed a hand on his thigh to quietly tell him to stay with her.
"You'll miss part of the movie if you get up now..."
X kept her voice low and quiet, even though they weren't in a movie theatre, patting his thigh and giving it a quick rub before she returned it to her side. After she had gotten settled back into the couch, Nathan moved against her, wrapping an arm around her and nuzzling lightly into her neck. X was surprised at his action, but was never one to push cuddling away so she just leaned against him more, thinking nothing of it.
Nathan purred inwardly when he heard her heartbeat again, when he suddenly somehow adjusted himself so that they were laying down, him behind her while they were both on their sides. X was too tired to complain at this point, and by that time, near the end of the movie, X was more or less asleep as it was, the comfort of her laying down causing her to turn onto her back and fall asleep.
He noticed when she finally fell asleep, her breathing and heartbeat had slowed down considerably, for a couple of minutes, Nathan just watched her sleep, his fingertip reaching out to push a stray strand of hair out of her face, a soft smile coming to his face. Leaning down, he hesitated for a moment, before he lightly pressed his lips against hers, kissing her softly for a couple of seconds before pulling back.
X kissed him back in her sleep, oblivious to the fact that this wasn't just part of her dream with Orlando Bloom, and Nathan was surprised, blinking slightly before he shifted, careful not to wake her, and layed his head on her chest above her heart. Closing his eyes, he wrapped an arm around her and just layed there, curled against his 'agent' and listening to her calming heartbeat. He was happy, glad he had come here with Devon to live in her house, to live with her, and after a faint nuzzle, Nathan drifted off to sleep just like that, ear yearning for her heartbeat.

Part 2
