Vangreth is a Windigo aura, representing the Fire redou. She's about the size of a pretty big beach ball. She doesn't really interact with anyone in Inle's household except Inle herself. This is mainly because she wants to eat most of them, and Inle has forbidden it. Normally, Vangreth wouldn't care, but she and Inle seem to have a strange sort of bond.

Vangreth is normally relaxed, borderline easygoing. However, she is full of pride; she hates to be seen as weak.

This is Vangreth's first form, as an aura. She's kinda big, for a floating ball of light and malice and DEWM.

Name: Inle-roo Iridien
Gender: Female
Birthdate: 12/05/84
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 135 lbs.
Hair Color: Black streaked with purple
Eye Color: Purple

Inle is an incredibly laid-back person, bordering on lazy. She enjoys little more than sleeping in. Her tastes run towards the eccentric, as her collection of unique rubber duckies and 80's heavy metal records indicates. While she isn't a people person, she doesn't go out of her way to alienate herself; not on purpose anyway. Inle is incredibly cynical and sarcastic, but neither bitter nor angry, and she's loyal and protective of those she cares about. To her friends and family, she's always got a shoulder to cry on and an ear to rant into.

Briseis is a curious baby. She's very vocal and expressive, even for someone so young. She can't talk yet, of course, but she seems to make a different kind of sound depending on what she wants. She loves playing with the fluffy end of Narawen's tail, and seems to get along well with everyone in the house, although she's afraid of Vangreth.

Caduceus has got a rebellious streak, and tends to be somewhat manipulative. Deep down, he's got a good heart. He often helps Inle take care of the younger members of the household. Deuce, as he is nicknamed, is rarely seen without his staff and lantern.

Ephenrix is a Phuuaso Inspirati. The Phuuaso are born completely apathetic, and rarely take the initiative to do anything without being told. Such is the case with Ephenrix, although Inle is trying to teach it how to feel. It doesn't seem to care one way or the other about much of anything yet, however, though it does seem to have a sweet tooth...

Eki is one of the Boundless, the anthropomorphic embodiment of an extinct animal; in this case, he is the Megalania Prisca. He's a quirky little baby, who carefully picks and chooses who he'll deign to interact with. He's got a cute sense of humor, even for one so young, and he's very vocal around people he likes.

Khepri is a Lunec. He's a playful sort, if a bit airheaded, and always ready to help. He, like Deuce, helps Inle out with many of the younger children.

Kota comes from a talisman Inle picked up on a shopping trip. He has the power to change his size (to a degree), but not his outward appearance. He loves mimicing people and things, almost to the point of annoyance. He is often seen floating aimlessly around the house.

Narawen is a wild Feli, and was Inle's first pet; it was actually Narawen who adopted her. Because of this, the two have an unbreakable bond. Narawen is intensely curious, and seems to get along well with the other members of the household. She will often leave the house for days to visit the Feli House, where many of the other Felis live.

Tama is a Cremello Ocelot Banthi, the youngest cub of his clan's Alphess and her mate. Like his mother, he's got wings, and will often soar the skies for no other reason than the sole pleasure of flight. He's fiercely loyal to his family and (most) of his clan. He is a battler in his clan, and trains nearly nonstop; although some might take him as overly serious, those who know him know that he's got quite the sense of humor.

Very little is known about Scylla, a ghost dragon, as he is rarely seen. He arrived on Halloween, circling the house with the other ghosts that night, and hasn't quite left yet.

Gideon (left) and Nil (right) are Leguanis. They showed up in boxes on Inle's doorstep one day and haven't left the house since. They're like really big, lazy dogs, who don't do much but eat, sleep, and look cute. They're handy for scaring off would-be burglars, though.

Maggie is a CrocoStyle, and one of the first. She came from a high heeled shoe. She's a sassy, spunky little croc who never fails to get into trouble. She may be small, but she doesn't let any of the bigger creatures in Inle's house take advantage of that.

Mina is a vampiric Blath. She doesn't come into the house much, preferring to stay outside and raid Inle's garden for fruits, vegetables, and small rodents. She and her sprite Seras are an inseparable pair.

Nebel is a fog Wethkin. It's only about the size of a gumball, so it's rarely seen. It wanders with Kota around the house, and you can often hear it coming before you see it because of the "myuh" sound it will often make.

Stolza is obviously still an egg. Nothing is known about her, except that one day she will hatch as a Guardian of Gaia. Inle often carries her around, not trusting the others in the house to leave the egg alone.

Tessa is more like an overgrown puppy than a gryphon. She is incredibly playful and attempts to get the other pets to join her in her games, usually to no avail. She's also got a chewing problem, as no piece of furniture is safe from her sharp beak and claws.

The Sprocket Army comes from Moorgahaine's Emporium & Forge. One of each Sprocket populates the house, and they all do different things. Some of them have bonded themselves to various members of the household, but some still remain independant.

12/08/04 - Journal Entry (Finally!)

I'm never going into the woods again. Ever. Why? Let me explain.

I was pissed off, and apparently it was showing, because my boss told me to take the rest of the day off, maybe take a nap and some Midol, and relax. Seeing as I hate my job, I agreed. So I started walking home, and calmed down a little, and that was cool, so I kept walking--right to the woods at the edge of town. At that point, I was feeling pretty good, and figured hey, what the hell, I could use the exercise anyway.

Big mistake. I wound up getting lost within like, a half hour or so. And, just to spite me, it starts raining. As I was wandering aimlessly through the woods, I came upon a rickety-looking old house. It looked kinda desolate, but cool nonetheless. I went up to it and knocked on the front door, hoping against hope that someone was inside and could tell me how to get back to civilization. Luckily, the door opened, and a woman answered. She gave me a once over, then smiled and invited me in.

I followed her into the house, dripping water onto the floor, and she led me into what looked to be the living room. She left the room for a moment, returning with a large towel. I took it gratefully, then wrapped it around myself and sat down. We spoke for awhile; I learned that the woman's name was CWL, and that she lived in the house alone except for her collection of rare and exotic animals. I hadn't seen any, but I had heard some odd noises...

At one point, I noticed a strange glow coming from the room CWL had disappeared into earlier. She noticed me staring over her shoulder at it, and turned to see what I was looking at before looking back at me.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Oh, that's a Windigo," she said, as if that would explain everything.

"Oh...uh, what's a Windigo?"

She proceeded to explain what a Windigo was, and I found myself entranced. They sounded awesome! As CWL spoke, the glow behind her grew brighter, and eventually started moving towards us. It got closer, and I noticed that it was just a ball of swirling red, black, and yellow light. It hovered around us, making a low humming noise, and my attention moved from CWL to it.

"This is a Windigo, then?" I said.

"Yep, this is a Windigo in the aura stage, the first stage. This one's name is Vangreth, and she's from the fire redou."

I held my hand out towards it, and it came closer. As it did, my mind filled with strange images. I saw Vangreth's aura, hovering over a decimated corpse--MY corpse. I didn't flinch; although CWL had told me what Windigos were capable of, I wouldn't believe it until I had seen it with my own eyes. The vision left, then, to be replaced by another one. It looked like a smiley-face emoticon, and I laughed.

"She likes you, I think," said CWL.

"Oh yeah? How can you tell?"

"Well, she hasn't eaten you yet!"

I looked at CWL then, blankly, trying to gauge whether she was serious or not. She certainly looked it, although she was still smiling. "You should get going," she said almost gently, "before it gets too dark."

My brow furrowed in confusion, and I looked towards the window. "But isn't it still--" I cut myself off as I saw that the rain had stopped. Still slightly confused, I nodded and stood. "Um...thanks for your hospitality, and the directions."

She nodded, and as I turned towards the door, she said, "Aren't you forgetting something?"

I looked behind me, only to see Vangreth hovering in my line of sight. I peered around her. "What, you mean...?"

"Yeah. You're the first person other than me who she's let walk out of here alive. That's got to count for something, right? Just take good care of her, and don't let her bring dinner home unless you like dealing with questions from the cops."

I stared at CWL for a minute before blinking. "Uhh...ok. Thanks, I think." With that, I turned and walked out, CWL calling after me, "And come by anytime! Maybe she'll run into the others!" With that, I walked out the door, following CWL's instructions on how to get out of the forest, Vangreth hovering behind me the whole way.

As we walked back into town, Vangreth sent me a thought. It was a sad emoticon, and she emitted a low hum, like the rumbling of a stomach. I stopped and turned towards her. "What, are you hungry?" The sad face turned into a happy one, and I sighed. "Well...go find someone to eat, but hurry up, and be careful not to get caught." She drifted off, disappearing into an alley.

A moment later, there was a scream, and a Vangreth's glow came out from the alley's mouth. Soon after, the aura reappeared by my side, making a clear noise like the humming of a tuning fork.

We eventually got to my house. I paused outside the door, turning to Vangreth. "Just two rules: Do NOT eat my kids or pets, and don't bring your food inside the house! I don't want to go through the trouble of hiding the body." Cue the smiley face.
12/14/04 - Arrpee Session

Although Inle had said that she was never going in the woods again, she found herself in them once more, drawn towards them at the insistence of Vangreth. The aura had been emitting a high-pitched whine all day, showing her guardian visions of her dead children and pets. When Inle had asked Vangreth what she wanted, images of CWL's house had come to mind.

Grudgingly, she followed the aura into the forest; hopefully this time, with Vangreth as her guide, she wouldn't get lost. Sure enough, they soon came to the house, and Vangreth circled above Inle as she knocked on the door.
CWL looked up from her book of recipes. A memory of a half-heard sound echoed in her head, and it wasn't until it was repeated that she realized that she was hearing someone a-rapping on her door.

She abandoned her search of the perfect cannibalistic recipe for shin's christmas gift and made her way through the scattered crayons Deka had left on the floor after his coloring session. She spared a glance at the happy, blinding picture of a yellow lion before continuing to the door.

The icy weather seeped into the crack of the door when CWL opened it, and she was tempted to slam it shut to keep warm. Instead, she peered outside. Her gaze fell on another woman on her porch. Again, a memory poked at her brain, but she couldn't remember it for the life of her.

"Hello? Were you tapping?"
Inle instinctively drew her coat closer around her as Vangreth's motions stopped at the side of her head. "Um...yeah," she said hesitantly. "Vangreth's been kinda antsy lately. She wanted to come here, and she said that if I didn't bring her, she would eat my family or something. I dunno, her images have been kind of blurry lately."

Vangreth moved in front of Inle's face, and the woman batted at her as if to get her out of the way. Her hand went right through the aura, however, and Van's hum grew louder and more insistent. She sent CWL an image of a sad emoticon.
CWL blinked at the little aura, then raised an eyebrow at Inle-roo. "Did you...I dunno....FEED her, or anything?"
Inle's head dipped regretfully. "I went out with her when she fed once, just to make sure she would be alright. She seemed to be fine and happy and whatnot, so I left her to herself after that. She's gone out several times since then, and when she comes back she glows brighter, so I don't think it's that."

Van sent the pair images of a person applauding, and then a group of clapping hands, followed once more by the sad emoticon.
