Once upon a time, there lived a small but powerful race known as Popopi. There was an old legend that said the Popopi were powerful guardians, despite their small size. I had been interested in the legend since I was a child. After I had grown, I began searching for rumors or information about this old legendary race. It took quite a few years but finally, information found had lead to a cave that was rumored to be the Popopi Cave. I can't remember how long I was in that cave searching before I leaned against the northern wall to rest. I sat down upon the dirt floor and noticed something sticking out nearby. It looked like parchment of some sort, covered with dirt on the cave floor and the coloring made it almost impossible to see except from a strange angle. I carefully removed the parchment and realized it was an old transcript. Deep inside, I had known the discovery would change my life forever.

I took the transcript home and attempted to translate it. It took me the better part of a year before I succeeded in my task. I remember sitting back in awe after the first time I read it in it's entirety. "At the blackened wall does lay, a hidden door to mark the way, Only a creature true of heart, can make the wall break apart." Was this a riddle? A joke? Or could it have been directions to the hidden haven of the Legendary Popori Guardians? I remember how I could barely contain my excitement at such a discovery and the next weekend I came face to face with that cave again.
By this time I was growing nervous. Doubts started to plague me. Was I pure of heart? What would I do if I found such pets? If they were dead, would I give them to museums? If they were alive, would I give them to scientists.. no, no I could not do such a thing. I knew, deep within my heart that the Popopi needed to be free to guard and protect. I would help them, aid them in their path, and let them thrive.
I marched into the cave, once again confidant about my purpose there. I looked around within until I found the darkest wall, so black that it looked like it could have been made of coal. I placed my hands upon the wall and before I could even consider my next course of action, I heard a loud noise and the wall crumbled at my feet. I had stood there a moment, as the smoke from the rubble started to dissipate. Once it had I stepped through the entrance and into the cavern beyond and found..
Nothing.
Had I finally cracked? Had I been the victim of a very old prank? At that time I had become so frustrated that I went to kick a rock that was near my feet. Luckily, I stopped before any real damage was done. The rock was too smooth to just be a rock. I knelt down to get a closer look and realized that it was stone.. yet smooth and round. I went to pick it up and that's when, much like the wall, the stone shell of the rock broke apart and I found myself staring at a most beautiful egg. Like a child I ran around touching all the stone covered eggs. Slowly I took them home, I realized I had dozens and dozens of Popopi at my disposal. I hatched some and studied them for awhile, but now many are of age and ready to find a home of their own, perhaps romance amongst themselves, start families or even find other pets they can guard and protect. The Popopi were no longer a legend. They were now fact.
