yes, I do mean official, I won't let this thread die, and this'll probably be an intro to the guild. Also, there is a DDR thread, what a noob magnet that can be sometimes. So, I decided to make a IIDX area. The format will probably be the same, until we get it rolling.

2. what skill would you consider yourself? (not only l7 or 7key, but also star level)
3. any particular songs you prefer playing? any style you prefer?
4. arcade and home experience? (I know, limited machines in the US)

Aight....onto it.....

Beatmania IIDX is a music simulation game debuting out of Japan in the late 90s. It is made by Konami and has many songs which were transfered to DDR, and a few have gone the other way. It is played on 7 keys (4 white, and 3 black which are offset) an a turntable (either on the right or left). The notes come down as bars in seperate columns on the screen. You press the keys at the right moment to play the note. If you don't hit the key, the note doesn't play.

So far, 13 styles have been released in Japan, with IIDX 14 GOLD being the most recent arcade release. Also, GOLD is being location tested here in the United Sates in Illinois. So, hopefully we will see a domestic arcade release. 10 are currently on the Japanese PS2, 3rd-12th style. 11th is more commonly known as IIDX RED (or IIDX Revolutionary Energetic Diversion). Beatmania IIDX 12 Happy Sky is OUT ON THE PS2 NOW. Beatmania US for the American PS2 is also out, and the controller is, in general public opinion, much better than it's Japanese counterpart.

This is one of the few games of the Konami music line, Bemani, that looks to last for a while longer, considering the "undefined leave of absence" for DDR . (note DDR: just released DDR Supernova, which isn't really anything new song wise, cept for Fascination Maxx, but it is technically a 9th arcade mix)

3. trance, good eurobeat, funk/house, happy, hardcore
4. 6th style in Richmond before it was removed, 10th Style in NY, and my home controller setup

I started playing last year in May, but didn't get a controller until late August.

2. what skill would you consider yourself?
7key 7's-flashing 7's, and Another.

3. any particular songs you prefer playing? any style you prefer?
Trance, Akira Yamaoka's stuff, TaQs and dj TAKA's stuff and eurobeat.

4. arcade and home experience? (I know, limited machines in the US)
9th Style at FYE in NY.
Was loud and I passed my first flashing 7 there. :]
