A guy friend once told me that women will always fight for equal rights and then they'll shy away from the topic once it comes to the draft. Somehow, I think he's right. I personally think there should be NO draft, but since there is, I think women should be forced too. Israel and Germany enlist women in the draft so we can be soldiers and as much as I don't want to die, I think we should be on the list. What are your opinions?

I don't think it's right for anyone to be drafted, but it shouldn't just be forced on men. Everyone says we don't want women to be drafted and that we want "special rights", but I just don't see it anywhere. All the feminists I know of are anti-war and don't want anyone to be drafted.

There isn't any good reason anymore not to include women in the draft, as military prowess in this day and age depends more on technical skill and critical thinking than on sheer physical ability. Women's minds aren't any worse than mens', and they can develop adequate fitness.
There is, of course, a good reason not to have any draft. rolleyes

Honestly... I think that's just stupid. I think it's ignorant and makes the rest of us look bad when someone says "I'm for equal rights but women shouldn't be drafted". Obviously, pregnancy is a health-related handicap in terms of war. Personally I don't think there should be any kind of draft, but if there must, extend it to women. At the very least if they should die, they can die with their partner by their side, or at least he can know how it happened (or vice versa).
