Its belief that laissez-faire capitalism is the ideal form of human society is idealistic at best.
Why the hell was I invited to this guild? I can't stand Ayn Rand. Somebody ban me.

Laissez-faire capitalism is fairly decent in practice, but it doesn't work too well. Why not? Because it always ends with someone taking it up the a** from Adam Smith's invisible middle finger. Usually the lower class.
Not to say that Objectivism isn't interesting to read about, but I just can't agree with some of its ideas.

What ideology, philosophy, or theory isn't flawed though?

Why did you join a guild with Ayn Rand's name in the title, if you can't stand her?
I just read part of 'Atlas Shrugged,' but from what I know, Objectivism just seems very straightforward and sensible. I agree with TESTACLEESE that every ideology is flawed, but Objectivism is not nearly as flawed as some of the other ideologies out there.

except its allowance for corruption. come on some one that says ethics only hold the true capitalist from reaching their true potential.
now i really havent read a lot of the other theory to the matter other than ayn's moral and ethical arguments, but most focus on that previous statement.
it seems that if objectivism was practiced, alot more people would be getting their heads stepped on than in a Laissez-faire situation.
dose it not seem to be outrageously corrupt to you that a man can and should do anything he thinks is right in order to maintain his power base, so as to apease his ambitions.
i have an example of possibly the greatest objectivists of our time, the DeuBear family, and thier diamond trade. they have and will kill anyone that steps in their way.

Whoah! Hold on! Your only having seen a little of O'ism shows. It is worth noting that Objectivism doesn't say power itself is really a goal to try to maintain and it also says you re only ok to kill somebody else when they are violating or at least seem to be seriously threatening to violate somebody else's human rights first.

TESTACLEESE What ideology, philosophy, or theory isn't flawed though? Fascism is a flawed ideology but I'm not going to support it just because a lot of other ideologies are flawed (albeit less so). I believe Objectivism to be greatly flawed. "The Trader Principle" is so ridiculously naive. It has been shown time and again that greater profit comes from exploiting others. Imperialism knows this well.

Kira84 Why did you join a guild with Ayn Rand's name in the title, if you can't stand her? To voice my confusion as to why I was invited in the first place. You seem rather slow on the uptake.

I think that the Assumption that being able to do 'as you please' directly spawns Corruption is false. A good number of People, though selfish they may be, are also Good because it is what makes them Happy? Ultimate Freedom does not have to result in Chaos, instead it can just as easily result in Respect for all Humankind and the Rationalization therein.

Freedom in any form is better than control. In the short term, things may be more structured, even more peaceful, but in the long term things only work out if people have a choice, and learn to use it.

Just as easily? Ha. Ha ha. Heh. Perhaps 'just as easily' isn't quite the Words I should have used? There are far too many Idiots and Morons in this World that would have to be... Exterminated... first. But perhaps that is too harsh of Me. At any rate, it's the Thought that counts, and it is a nice Thought, just like any other Philosphy. rolleyes Good in Conception, bad in Practice.

You know, some people believe that revenge, hatred, jealousy, power-hunger, etc. are naturally occurring human traits? You'd have to do quite a bit of "exterminating" to weed them out.

You seem rather slow on the uptake. All right, let me reword that. Why join a guild and ask to be banned, when there is a convenient little button in the upper right-hand corner of the page for those that don't like the guild, that says "quit guild?" It seems a little bit pointless.
