This has gone beyond assanine. Honestly I neve rknew getting online wqas going to be such a pain the hardcore a##.
It's like the GC does not want me to go online at all.
I've seen what the schtserv tells me to do and still the modem is giving me the finger.
These are my flippin settings I put in.
tell me what needs to get fixed and what I should put in instead.
this is the 16-17 time I've tried to connect to broadband (wich I've given up on) and modem combined!
My parents just gave me a phone line through my room so I can use the modem.
these are the settings I have. please help me. stressed
ISP: GVTC
How to dial: tone
Outside line: 830

phone line 1: 9645560
2 and 3 are blank
DNS server address: Manual
Primary DNS: 201.134.231.160
Secondary DNS: 208.69.57.87
(I don't know if I'm supposed to put the schtckserv IP for primary and my own for secondary.)
right now I have them in the opposite order.
I cannot see what I have done wrong at all. Its starting to bug the hell out of me. ANd I've been trying this whole deal out for a week running now.
my dad is confusing the hell out of me saying that I'm dialing our own number ( wich I'm not the provider when it says " now dialling service provider on my online laoding screen) and that if the schtserv is outside of the country its going to costs us money for long distance.
does the schtserv have its own phone line number I must dial into?

Well let's try to clear this up.
The phone number you dial is the one that you use for Dial Up internet. So if you don't have a dial up internet connection you can't use a Modem Adapter. Schtserv doesn't have it's own internet service provider (ISP) so it doesn't have a phone number.
As for your DNS, you need to put the Schtserv one as your primary. You shouldn't need your own for that section as far as I know.

where do I check my dial up settings for my computer?
our internet is run through the house. we have lynksys. or what ever its called.
