My poor sister, at the innnocent yet easily influenced age of seven, seems to be getting dragged into a world of False Icons and awful trends. Now don't get me wrong-she is a good person-she's fairly intelligent for her age, and has decent judgement. But I have seen budding signs of her fall, including songs such as Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" blasting from her room. On Christmas, she distributed cards that she had made. The contents were disturbingly cliche. Many of them had repeated phrases of "Like, Merry Christmas!" and "Super fun holidays!" She threw in tidbits, which she had picked up from her "Create A Card!" project book, into sentences, many of which made little sense. These meaningless sayings distracted her from keeping her sentence structure the way she normally keeps it. I don't know. I know I'm probably being too critical of her-I mean, she's young, she just wants to fit in with the crowd, and maybe she just like thinkgs like that. I'm just worried. It's been happening lately, especially since school started.
Of course, on the other hand, she also loves bands like 311, Nirvana, Metallica, Gorillaz, and Weezer. She also likes horror movies and Guitar Hero. Hell, she's better at it than me. Did I mention she also has zombie posters up in her room?
Well, I guess she's just growing up. She's doing different things and figuring out what she's into. I can't control how she thinks. You could say she's double-sided, a girly-girl who's a rocker chick at heart. (Wow, what a strange way to describe a seven-year old!!) I have just been concerned lately that what's "popular" has been having an impact on her, and I don't want her to turn out thinking that way, focusing her mind on trends. But I think she'll find out on her own; she has a strong will and a sense of decency, and she'll take whatever path feels right.
God, I over-analyze people waaaaay too much.

Meh, I say it's a phase for all children to go through. I used to be into Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, and all that other crap, and now I'm completely different. She'll eventually stop caring which thing is popular or not when she gets older and finds more true icons to admire. 3nodding

nekorenudu Yeah, and of course, she'll have me to beat some sense into her! twisted xd Naw just kidding! .. ninja I don't really have to worry about my baby half-brother getting into false music icons, cause he has us: the children of a classic rock fanatic.(at least until he's five years old. sad ) I'll admit the only reasons why I would listen to the crappy 90's pop today is just for the nostalgia and good times.
