On march 20th is the spring equinox, the second most holy day upon the Druidic calender, second only to the summer solstice. I hope you all plan to celebrate in one form or another of sacrifice, no not your baby brother, but in a habit, object of affection or addiction. You may notice that the roman catholic church uses Lent and that march 20 is the day before good Friday. This is no coincidence, as the Catholic church has stolen most of its holidays, Christmas, easter, Halloween, ash wens day and a few others from the Druids. The only reason that good Friday is not on the equinox is that the legend goes that Christ died on Friday and rose on Sunday, poetic, but not backed up by any scripture or physical evidence. Most likely the people the catholic church wanted to control were of one form of Druidic heritage and still followed the holidays even against the church. So they conformed their holidays around the Druids holidays, mostly just renaming them and adding useless ritual and annoying ceremony. I have my ceremony planned out, if anyone need aid, please ask me, Love, Dakin Captar

Christianity actually stole a lot of ideas from the Pagan religions not just holidays. It annoys me how they say all Pagans are devil worshipers even though they stole so much from Pagans.
On another note, there are more than just the equinoxes, and solstices that the druids celebrated: January 31/February 1 - Imbolc April 30/May 1 - Beltaine July 31/August 1 - Lughnasa October 31/November 1 - Samhain
just so people know

Ok i have one problem with something you said Dakin. the Catholic church planned their holidays around the Jewish holidays because the first christian were use to that. But to say they stole dates for other religion is wrong because the Catholic church hated most other religions till 200 years ago.

You hate Harry S. Truman. One of the greatest leaders of this country. How dear you.

Bonk? I dont get the Truman thing &( and the winter solstis is a very interesting time. Honika, qwansa, (my spelling sucks) and t least three other holidays. so it is possible that the church took the holiday from any number of sources during its height around 1100 ad. but easter is indisputably of a druid origin. Also the tradition of taking a tree into the house is in honor of the tree goddess. The rabbit is an ancient druid symbol of fertility, and to this day spring is one of the most common times of conception.
