I have noticed key similarities between a few Final Fantasy and spin-off games revolving around the world of Ivalice. I haven't found very stable information regarding the timeline, but I'm curious to your opinions!
First and foremost, I would like to point out a character connection. According to a few of my resources, Balthier (FF XII) and Mustadio (FF Tactics) are related. Point of proof: Mustadio's last name is Bunansa. As any fangirl of Balthier will tell you, his last name is also Bunansa. So, the question is, who came first? Is Mustadio a decendant of Balthier, as I have theorized, or is it the other way around?
I'd also like to note that Balthier is supposed to have made in appearance in Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, which I haven't the privilege to play. As you can imagine, this really complicates things, especially since FF XII is rumored to be many years before Tactics....
Maybe someone else can help me clear this up? Go ahead and post your feelings on this matter, while I go ruminate over Scyver...

I have only seen final fantasy XII and Tactics Advanced, and I noticed the Moogle character Montblanc is in both. He is one of your main chars in Tactics Advanced. I got the giddies when I ran into him in XII.

i had my theory of tactics came way before, kinda like a circle of life almost. there once was a large civilization that ruled the skys and that world was lost and created the world in tactics, then with the finding of old technology did they start to create the old world once again.
and tactics: war of the lions is the same as the ps1 version just with new battles and stuff, not much of a difference.

I always believed Tactics came later.
In the World of Tactics, they had re-discovered Airships and Guns burried beneath the ground, and the legend of the King gathering the Zodiac Braves seem to fit more with FFXII being in the past. Along with the factic that the Moogles are extinct and no Vera.
I have not played Vargant Story or where that time line fits.
For Tactics Advanced, Ivalice was a city and turned into a fancy world. The most I can see if that the fantasy world is Ivalice of Old and the real world of TA is one very very far in the future.
