What are people's views on censorship. Should we use symbols in place of our swearing or not? I've always been in two minds as to whether I should be censoring my swearing or not so I started this thread with poll to know whether or not I should watch my language in this guild. Another factor to consider is the fact that everyone has the ability to turn on a swear-screen type thing that will censor swear words automatically.

Personally, I have no issue, and I doubt anyone else here does. Characters like Cid can't be played without swearing. Somehow, saying f**k instead of ******** sorta takes it away. I've noticed though that you been trying to figure that out though. ^ ^'

I don't believe that there's a problem with typing the words instead of using symbols. I mean, the Final Fantasy games are rated T, and have swearing in them. Final Fantasy VII is the only game to actually use symbols in place of the words, and it's not like the words aren't anything we don't hear in real life. I know that that probably has nothing to do with it, but if the games have it, and we've been exposed to it in the games, and are now tryingt to roleplay with characters and elements from the games...then I say we may as well use the words.
And then again, I just realized that Final Fantasy VII is the only one to use symbols because it's the only one that goes past the normal "damn", "b*****d", and occasionally "s**t."

I have a very dirty mouth...IRL and on Gaia. Censoring our swearing robs us of who we are for christ's sake! evil

I want to say no just because everyone seems to be saying yes to swearing...
But I honestly don't care. I don't swear in real life, but I hear it all the time... It just doesn't bother me.
Plus playing Zell... I doubt I'll have to swear... much.

I say swearing is alright, you just won't catch me doing it too often. Anyways they did give us the option to censor it in our profiles so those that say no can just make them astricts and move in. Everybody wins 3nodding .

can't say I play many characters who swear ....
Three's the only one who comes close and worst he says is bloody.

First, I don't care about swearing (plus, using spanish curse-words doesn't trigger the censorship [for all I know], and lets me veil them slightly.)
Now, for the edit I did up there, I wouldn't have cared less if only the first two paragraphs were written.... but when I arrived at the "repeat after me" part, I simply couldn't bear so much senseless bad word use.
Anyway, we all are able to activate or deactivate the word filter, ne? wink

i dunno how far i am behind... but i think that we should'nt Censor our swearing, i mean who dosen't hear those words in real life?

I'm not sure where I stand on it, sometimes people swear for the sake of it and that bugs me.
