The world had progressed a lot during those thousand years. The primary center of investigation had evolved into a militaristic Empire, and now ruled a whole continent. Its power was supreme, even when two other kingdoms allowed for the smaller towns some measure of freedom.
But then, the Empire threw itself on a quest to conquer the old magic power. A group of heroes, the last of the Returners, tried to stop the madness. In the end, the most powerful General, Kefka, sacrificed the world to gain unimaginable power.
Now, the land is scorched, plants and animals die, and towns face destruction at the hands of the new aberrations that roam the land. The old heroes are gone, and people need protection. Punishment should reach the wicked.
When the world's defenders leave, their places should be occupied again. Welcome, hero, your future history is just beggining to unfold.

Magic
When Espers die, their bodies become crystals. These crystals are called Magicite, and retain the magical essence of the dead Esper. Millenia ago, humans discovered this, and at first they honored the dead Espers by employing responsibly their powers. It wasn't too long before human greed made living Espers rise and fight. The battle almost destroyed all life, and both Espers and Magi retreated from the world.
When the party finds Magicite, it's effects will be detailed here, along with the magic they teach to the wielder.

Skills
All of these are special abilities that need dedicated training.
arrow Blitz: Martial arts special techiniques. They depend on technique (to perform special punches) or internal focus (to release energy attacks). arrow Dance: After reaching a trance-like state, the dancer can conjure natural doom on the enemy, or release hidden attacks. exclaim Lore: Observation of monsters once led sages to imitate their abilities. Now, it's a lost art, except for a few gifted, sole heirs to a millenary legacy. exclaim Morph: This ability belongs to the rare offspring of an Esper and a Human. It transform's the half-Esper's body and potentiates his/her magical powers. arrow Rage: Iron will and razor claws aren't just for wild beats. Wild people imitate animals and monsters, using their strenghts against them. exclaim Runic: The Empire once infused its top officers with magic. Those who showed the highest potential were grouped, they became the Runic Knights. This ability allows the wielder to nullify magic and replenish his/her magical reserves. arrow Slot: A gambler's life depends on the toss of a coin.... arrow Steal: Those brave enough can face a monster, but only the agile can attempt to take items from them and expect to get away with it. arrow Swordtech: Ancient legacy of the Doma Retainers. It allows for special attacks, having variated effects. Retainers learn Swordtechs and Katana use as one single thing. arrow Throw: It allows the combatant to throw spare weapons to his enemies. Some stores have special equipment designed to produce special effects when thrown. arrow Tools: High-tech equipment requires special training. A machinist learns to identify, operate, repair, upgrade, and create advanced machines. These machines include some very scary "automatic" weapons.

Equipment
Equipment is separated in weapons, shields, helmet, armor, and relics.
Weapons Equiped in either of the hands, they are used to damage enemies. arrow Daggers: Short blades, not very strong, but fast. arrow Swords: Long blades, stronger than Daggers. Some have special properties, like allowing channelling magical energy.
The following weapons require special training. arrow Knight swords: These powerful blades have special abilities, and most come from ancient times. arrow Spears: Any long weapon with a sharpened edge, used for stabbing at long distance. arrow Chakram: Thrown discs and similar weapons, useful to strike enemies at a distance. arrow Rods: Require awareness of magic. They are laced with a spell, which they strenghten when the weilder casts it. Also, they can be broken to release said spell on the enemy.
These last require exclusive dedication, a warrior skilled in their use forfeits all other kinds. arrow Katanas: Badge of Doma's Retainers, these now-rare weapons are designed to cut through accuracy, not strenght. Retainers learn Swordtechs and Katana use as one single thing. arrow Knuckles: Claws and gloves used to increase punching power. arrow Any other particular exotic weapon (or non-weapon used as such) require this depth of training.
Shields Equiped in either hand, they protect the body, both deflecting attacks and decreasing impact force. Agile fighters tend to stick with smaller shields, to avoid weighting slowing down. Some powerful shields are light enough to be wielded by anyone, while still providing good protection.
Helmets Protection for the head, they are divided mainly in two. arrow Armor helmets: Hard and straightforward, they depend on material's hardness. arrow Light protection: Costly, delicate adorning wear, they help with weak abilities, magical protection, and possible magic boosting.
Armors Body protection. Most can be used by anyone. arrow Metal Armor: Hard, metallic plates that decrease attacks' strenght. Only legendary armor provide magical protection. arrow Dresses: Useable only by women, grant magical bonuses. arrow Suits: Useable only by men, grant fighting bonuses. arrow Costumes: Rare clothes that resemble other creatures.
Relics Other equipment that provide abilities are called relics. People can use up to two at one time, and the abilities conferred are varied. Some examples include: arrow Status protection: Items that prevent various status ailments, such as darkness, poison, and confusion. arrow Combat enhancers: Be it increasing stats (strenght, dodge%), or granting special skills (wield two weapons, hold one weapon with both hands). arrow Magical: In this age of resurgent magic, some items that cast spells on those who carry them (haste, safe) are more common. Some still rare items enhance magic, or reduce the strain caused by casting it. arrow Skill enhanceners: Equipment that complement or boost one special ability, like striking while stealing, or mind control.

Limit breaks
Fighting monsters demands great will. This same will can be focused on a strike. Limit breaks are personal, as every man or woman learns to focus their will and ability in a personal way.
((I'll allow FF7, 8, 9, and 10 limits. Take some ideas from the games and make up the rest wink ))
Character information
Name: The way everyone knows the character. Skill: Special ability the character has trained, discovered or developed. Magic: Spells the character knows. Magicite: Both attatched and carried. Equipment: Right arm, Left arm, Head, Body, and Relics. They represent only current equipment, not what is stashed away. Appearance: How the character looks like. Background: What people can know about the character, being it from assumptions by his dressing, or through street lore.
Name: Lamio Skill: Steal Magic: None Yet Magicite: None Yet Equipment: Guardian (enhances speed), Buckler, Bandanna, Dark Gear (enhances speed) Appearance: Lamio has bright green hair, strange green eyes, that almost draw the viewer in. Thin, fit body, not too tall, handsome features. A triffle affeminated, but a true ladykiller. Background: Lamio has a strong street rep as a lady's man and a flirt. He is very flighty, moving from place to place, establishing himself before moving on. He often gets into fights, which he would lose because of his size, but he is quick and bright enough to outwit most drunkards. He is also a bit of an adventurer, and a lover of old relics. He often braves old temples and areas to bring back old antiques and artifacts, for his own personal collection. He is a collector.
Name: Ellisa Skill: Sketch Magic: None yet Magicite: None yet Equipment: Right arm - Rod Left Arm - satchel (containing sketch tools, pencils, brushes and sketch book.) Head - None Body - Leather Jerkin Relics - None Appearance: Ellisa has turquoise eyes and dark brown hair which is cut to her shoulders; she wears the garb of a traveller, a weather worn grey cape, coal black trousers and a plain brown leather jerkin. Nothing about her seems at all dangerous or imposing. Background: Ellisa looks as if she's a quiet lass from a humble town but people learn not to trust people's looks. She is often seen with her sketch book out but guards it savagely, you do not want to look over her shoulder to see what she's doing, not unless you want a pencil shoved in your face of course.
Name: Ryan Leamonde Skill: SwordTech Magic: none yet Magicite: none yet Equipment: R-Hand - Forged L-Hand - Mythril Shield Head - Mythril Helm Body - Mythril Mail Relic: True Knight- Protect party members Appearance: Shaggy silver hair that seems as if any attempt to neaten it up will make it worse. Silver eyes to match the hair. Armour that, though well worn, is obviously well treated. The big Katana with the worn handle shows that you shouldn't mess with the owner (Even though he only recieved these recently and were well used already) Background: Ryan was an inhabitant of Doma but was away in the service of the Empire ((oh the irony)). When he heard of the poisoning he became a broken man and deserted the army. He went to Narshe and stayed there for a while. Then the world broke. Afterwards he travelled again, developing his Sword skills which hadn't been used in a while. He vowed to gain the strength to protect people as his old hero, Cyan, had. Cyan was idolised by Ryan when he was younger for being so selfless and noble, when he joined the Imperial army he was forced to forget. The ruination of the world rekindled Ryan's spirit.

Final info
To begin, pick one Skill (and only one) for the character. Then, choose one kind of special weapon, besides Knives and Swords. Some require that the character forfeit use of Swords, while others ask for total dedication to the style. Think about a "level 1" Limit Break or a Limit Break mechanic. Create a nice story and an image for the character. Post the character here.
Skills marked with an admitarion ( exclaim ) are magical in nature, and, thus, restricted. Please PM me any character with them before posting them here, to sort some details involving those characters. You can invent your own Skill, but if you wish to do so, please PM me first to make some arrangements.
I'm basing on FF6's lists, but it's a fan thing, and new ideas will be introduced along. So, please, if you have a nice idea, share it with the rest. wink

Of course, there are a lot of things that I really don't care about.... Maybe it's just that I love RPGs and FF so much.....
