 I don't know who I am.
I don't know what I am
I just know that I'm not human. Pyra followed Logan to the Library. When they walked in, her eyes immediately widened. She tried to hide the shock but wasn't so sure it worked. She had never seen so many books in her life. She had never seen so many things in one place that she couldn't touch. She glanced at the nearest book and read the title. "Island of the Blue Dolphins," she read slightly amused. Then something farther in the back caught her eye.
"What is the purpose of a ball on a stick," she asked as she eyed a large globe from afar. She had no idea what it was.
I'm not sure if I want to know
I'm not sure that I need to know
But the fact just is...I don't know.

Logan grabbed it for her, "This is Earth. our home planet. No worries when you get your gloves in a day or two, I can bring you back here and we can o over so much more."

I just know that I'm not human. Pyra raised an eyebrow. "Ah...a model of the planet...I hear it looks like a giant blue berry, but it does not so much look like one," she said as she eyed the globe curiously. Her eyes caught words. Africa, Germany, France...these are countries... "A library is not just for books but for small scale models, too," she asked. She felt so stupid for asking, like a five year old that knows nothing but she was sixteen. She knew that she should know more than what she knew now.

I just know that I'm not human. Pyra thought about Logan's words, not exactly understanding their meaning but she would think of a meaning later. Now, she let her eyes wander. There were so many books. Books on everything, and they all had a series of numbers and letters on their side binding. She had seen books before but never any with such things. She decided not to take much interest in the library for now, at least not until she got these gloves that Logan kept speaking about.

Pyra wandered the halls with her pile of books until she came to a room that looked oddly familiar to her. It was a place Logan had showed her with books. Many, many books and something that he called a globe but it looked like a ball on a stick
She walked into the library and found a table where she spread out her books. A young woman with glasses sat at the check out desk and watched Pyra.
"Shouldn't you be in class, dear," she asked quietly, but it wouldn't have mattered as no one else was in the large room.
Pyra looked up at the woman and shook her head. "I only have one class," she answered. The woman nodded and kept an eye on the red head as she went about her business putting books where they belonged on the shelf.
Pyra opened her handwriting book and began to copy the letters and words that were in it after tracing the letters. She was glad that the woman left her to herself and didn't really ask many questions. She was bound and determined to be able to write every letter by the end of the day. Whether the letters were good or not, she didn't care, as long as she could tell what they were.

Lily entered the Library, happy to see it wasn't very busy. A flash of red caught her eye, and she spied Pyra, sitting at a desk.
Lily thought about sitting down next to her, but the girl was working so intently on something, she though it'd be rude to interupt. So, she made her way to an empty desk a few desks away from Pyra, and laid her backpack on the table. Lily then went on to roam the aisles of books.
She felt she was in heaven. Her fingers traced over the bindings of all the books she past. Her eyes darted from title to title. Lily wondered if there was a limit to how many books she could check out...

Pyra looked up from her work and noticed Lily. She sighed, she had come here so no one would bother her, but she supposed that whatever this place was for, other people liked to come here too.
Quickly, she shut her handwriting book and shoved it between her math and history book. Then she decided to see what kind of books this place had. Her father had many books in his study. He had many children books and what he called 'classic novels' but she never did get to read any. Her father always read to her. She smiled slightly when she remembered his voice reading Oliver Twist to her as she fell asleep at night.
She wandered the aisles and came to an aisle with a few books on pyrokenesis. She glanced at them and thought of their titles. "Pyroken-...Pyro," she whispered as she studied one of the titles. She didn't know what pyrokenesis was. She scrunched her nose with frustration and moved on.
She found Lily and quietly wandered over. "Can I ask a question," she asked out loud, unaware that one was supposed to be quiet in a Library. She glanced over at the librarian and received an odd and slightly disturbing look. "Why do they have so many books here," she proceeded to ask without acknowledging the quiet rule.

Lily jumped a little when Pyra came up to her. She listened as Pyra talked aloud, apparently unaware of the 'hush hush' rule of libraries everywhere.
"Well," she said, keeping her own voice low, "this is the library. Most towns and cities have them." She explained. "They're places where you can check out books of all kinds, without having to buy them. But, you have to return them within a certain time period." She walked around Pyra, and picked up a heavy refernce book. "See this? It's a reference book. They normally cost a lot. But, we, as student, need to use books like these sometimes. So, instead of buying them a differnt everytime we need it, we just check it out at the library." She set the book back down, and smiled over at Pyra. "It's also a place people come to read, and do other work. That's why you must always be quiet when in a library."

Pyra watched Lily jump a little, though she didn't quite understand why. Perhaps she had been too quiet. She listened as the girl answered her question.
"So...you borrow a book," she asked, this time she tried to be as quiet as she could. She glanced back over at the librarian who seemed a bit scary at first but she received a nod from her this time. "How come they don't think people won't bring them back?" She glanced at the reference book, she didn't know why she would want to read a reference book, especially since the reference books seemed to be dictionaries, and in her experience, those were boring books.
Her eyes wandered over all of the books that were near her. This was a dangerous place for her to be. Not because she loved books, she never had the chance to love books. But because of her power. What if she lost her temper in here? What if she borrowed a book and took it to her room and then had another nightmare?

Lily watched as Pyra's eyes wandered around the large room, taking in all the books.
"That's a good question." She said. "You see, when you check out a book from a library in a city or town, you have to have a card from that library. To get the card, you have to give out some personal information. And, if you don't return the book ontime, you pay a late fee. The fee goes up for everyday the book is overdue." She looked directly at Pyra, hoping she wasn't confusing the girl. "But if it's at a school, you just get a notice. And if you loose the book, no matter what library you're at, you have to pay for it." She walked around to the other side of Pyra, just for the sake of moving. "And, I suppose some of it is based on good faith, as well."

Pyra nodded slightly. So, you could take the books out of the library. She smiled. "What book are you looking for," she asked. She wanted to know everything. She glanced around and noticed some statues and figures of presidents and other important people. She also noticed the ball on a stick that Logan called a 'globe'.
The better question was, what book was she, herself, looking for? What did she want to learn? She wanted to learn everything. But where did she want to start? Were there books that she could learn from? She had seen many people reading books that weren't for classes. She wondered, what was in them that they were learning.
She peered around the tall bookshelf, down the columns of bookshelves that seemed to go on for a long time. There were certainly a lot of books. She poked a book that seemed relatively new. She cocked her red head to the side to read the title. Then, she scrunched her nose when she read it. 'Botany'. She didn't know what that word meant but it seemed like a science word.
She glanced back at the Librarian who seemed to still be watching the girls from the corner of her eye. She scrunched her nose again at the woman who seemed to also be writing something. Kaija suddenly wondered what the woman was writing. Her head swirled and suddenly, she felt overwhelmed by the books, the questions. Where to start, what she wanted. She held her head with a hand and shut her eyes, for a minute until her mind calmed down.
