Haven't tried them out yet, but they sound kickass. WHICH MEANS THE NEWSLETTER WILL LIVE AGAIN!
Newsletter will function the same way it did back in the olden days. Two messages per show:
1) A message when a new show schedule is announced, containing info on that show and its schedule, plus anything else we were doing that month.
2) A message between the last dress rehearsal and opening night, reminding people to come see it and giving the finalized cast list.
It's been a looong time since we've done newsletters and opening night reminders (they stopped after we got featured because, um, yeah, if you knew the concept behind the sending of the old newsletters you probably don't need to ask why). I'm not even sure most people here were even around to receive them.

Want to see something CRAAAAZY? I have records of some of the old newsletters and reminders. Here's a few. Have some nostalgia. NOTE: Some of these are REALLY old and any information about auditions and such contained within don't necessarily apply anymore. Hopefully obviously. NOTE 2: Check out how incredible my coding was on that second to last one. You're welcome. Quote: This is the Gaian Theatre Company newsletter for March.
First of all, congrats to AraTeran, the winner of TheHooker's art auction with a bid worth 1.8 mil last I checked. The GTC, of course, will be recieving a portion of this gold. Which means, basically, we never have to worry about lack of funds pretty much... ever again. I don't know about you, but I like the sound of that. Thanks, TheHooker. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.
Second of all, the script writing competition ends at the end of this month, so there's still time to throw something together for that if you put your mind to it.
This month, the GTC is reviving last March's show -- Chess. Chess is a cult show of sorts which is a favorite of many members of the GTC. It follows a love triangle and a web of politically-driven blackmail surrounding a world chess championship between a Russian and American player in the midst of the Cold War.
Currently, the plan is to double-cast this show as we traditionally have in the past -- meaning, two people will ideally be cast in each role and take half the performances each, standing by to sub in other roles if necessary for the remaining half.
Characters: Frederick Trumper With an inexplicable charisma and penchant for drama, Freddie has become a figure the world loves to hate. He considers himself as much an entertainer as a chess player and will go to great lengths to put on a show -- to the delight of his fans and the dismay of his peers.
Florence Vassy After her father's involvement in an uprising in her home country of Hungary, as a child Florence was brought to England, left always to wonder as to her family's fate. She has spent the last seven years working as an advisor and assistant to her boyfriend, Freddie Trumper, a relationship in which she often finds herself cast aside and disrespected but has no courage to leave.
Anatoly Sergievsky After dedicating his life to chess, Anatoly is finally approaching the top of the sport. He is discovering, however, that success is not all he had hoped, and is plagued by the knowledge that even if his professional career should flourish he will still be left with a failing marriage and growing discontent with his country -- the Soviet Union.
Alexander Molokov Though outwardly appearing to be no more than Sergievsky's chess second, Molokov's true loyalties lie with people in higher places.
(The following roles are present in one act each and will be shared by one actor)
Svetlana Sergievsky While her husband fights for the title of chess champion, Svetlana is pushed to the side and develops a bitterness toward the board game that tears her home life apart. As Anatoly's rash decisions anger the Soviet government, Svetlana finds herself blackmailed into assisting in the campaign against him.
The Arbiter While everyone else is playing at love and politics, he sees only the board game.
Schedule
NOTICE ON LOCATION: It's no secret that Towns seems to have some sort of grudge against us and enjoys making places not load when we need to use them. The only way we can combat this is to simply try and work around it when it happens. Until further notice, all events take place at 58 Barton 001221 (our preferred location which has eluded us for several months but is now once again loading for us! smile ), but it would be wise to check the thread for any notification of a change before attending any event. (You may have to try more than once to get in or try approaching it from the map (the page 001221 is on is one click east and one click south from the 001000 page) -- it's a b***h like that)
Auditions: THREE AUDITION DAYS THIS MONTH! Isn't that fancy? (Note the time changes)
Saturday, March 8th 5 to 7 PM PST Sunday, March 9th 4 to 6 PM PST Monday, March 10th 4 to 6 PM PST
Please do not audition if you do not intend to attend the majority of rehearsals and performances if you are cast.
GTC auditions, rather than being a set time, are a range of time and interested folk can come any time during that range on either day. If auditioners have a role preference they are encouraged to let us know, but we do NOT audition for individual roles, but rather for participation in that cast as a whole. Contrary to popular belief, we do not get an abundance of auditioners.
One or more senior actors from the GTC will be around to assign auditioners a scene to act out with them, and afterwards auditioners are free to leave -- auditions should not take more than a few minutes. Individuals who are cast in the show will receive a PM prior to the first rehearsal (those not cast will not be notified). For more information on auditioning, see the Audition Tips section. Note: A lot of people come by asking if they can watch auditions -- you're free to, but it's not particularly entertaining. Trust me.
The script can be found here and more information on what is expected at auditions can be found in the Audition Tips section of the thread. Rehearsal: Starting at 5 PM PST and running about an hour for each regular rehearsal and about two for dress. If at all possible, actors are expected to attend every rehearsal. If an actor does not make it to at least half the rehearsals, they could be replaced or removed.
The last two rehearsals are dress rehearsals -- information on this will be given to actors when these days approach.
Friday, March 14th Saturday, March 15th Monday, March 17th Wednesday, March 19th
Performances: Starting at 5 PM PST and expected to run about 2 hours. Come see us!
Friday, March 21st Saturday, March 22nd Monday, March 24th Weds, March 26th
We hope to see you at auditions or performances this month! Any questions and comments can be shared, as always, at the thread.

This is the Gaian Theatre Company Newsletter for January.
This Month: bare
For January, the GTC is taking a stab at bare (also known as bare: a pop opera) (which isn't supposed to be capitalized). bare follows the last half of a group of high schoolers' senior year at St. Cecelia's Catholic boarding school.
The Characters
As is customary in GTC shows, the cast has been boiled down to eight roles -- nine characters with two doubled. Ideally, two people will be cast for each role and split the four performances between each other.
(Descriptions taken from barethemusical.com)
JASON - handsome golden child of St. Cecilia's senior class PETER - introspective, Jason's clandestine boyfriend IVY - pretty, popular, insecure NADIA - Jason's pudgy, sardonic twin sister MATT - studious, pious, Jason's academic rival LUCAS - The school's fun-loving purveyor of altered reality CLAIRE - Peter's mother SR. CHANTELLE - African-American nun, wise, no-nonsense PRIEST - St. Cecilia's headmaster
Schedule
Recently, we have been unable to enter our theater, so at present all events take place at: OG's house, 3 Barton 002898 (or you can click here to load the home directly). Watch this thread for updates on the location.
Auditions: 4 PM - 7 PM PST GTC auditions, rather than being a set time, are a range of time and interested folk can come any time during that range on either day. Auditioners are free to share their preferences for roles and these are taken into account in casting, but auditions are held in a general way and one does not audition for a particular role but rather for participation in the show as a whole.

Quote: You are reading The Gaian Theatre Company newsletter for May 2008 Kudos to last month!I'd like to start by sending out a thanks to the cast, crew, and audiences of last month's The Phantom of the Opera. Have a cookie. Go ahead. If anyone has any screencaps from that show, do PM them to Arqueete because I have noooone. Under ConstructionI was really hoping Gaia would retract their only Photobucket thing soon. Apparently they aren't. So, I'm in the midst of reuploading all the images in the thread to Photobucket and trying to clean up the organization of the thread in the process, so if you have any suggestions as to how we can make the thread a little friendlier, let me know in, you know, the thread. This MonthYeah, I know, FINALLY. For May we're putting on a sort of collection of pieces by the lovely and talented Gildedmuse. We will be putting on four of her works with five to ten minute intermissions between each. As the school year winds down for us students, understandably free time is limited, so you may be comforted to know that this show is expected to run about an hour. That's right. One of our shortest productions in a long time. So take some time out of your studying and those last minute projects the teachers love to dump on you and enjoy some free theater. Come stay for the first one. Jump in in time for the third one. Take an hour and stay for them all. It'll be good for you. WHEN IS THIS ALL GOIN' DOWN?1/1?MAY JUNE All events take place at The Sphere Theatre (58 Barton 001221)Auditions (4 to 6 PM PST) Sunday May 18th Monday May 19th Check out this month's audition scenes!Bring yourself, your brain, your ability to follow directions to 58 Barton 001221 between 4 PM 6 PM PST. Expectation is that you know you can be present at at least 3/4s of the rehearsals and performances for the full time said event is expect to run (half hour for non-dress rehearsal, an hour to an hour and a half for anything else). How it works: You show up AT ANY TIME DURING THE SPECIFIED PERIOD! smile You'll be asked to read one character's lines in one of the audition scenes while an experienced GTC actor reads the other, using CAPITALS FOR EMPHASIS, Towns emotes (not text emotes like ^_^, please), and changing... up... punctuation! where appropriate to inject feeling (generally too much is preferred to too little). You will probably not be asked to do any movement. Don't copy/paste, please -- type your lines as quickly as you can comfortably. This will only take a couple minutes. We'll ask if you have any role preferences, and then you can go if you wish and will be notified by PM on Wednesday if you got a part. You do not audition for a specific part but rather participation in the production as a whole -- we DO take preferences into account, but cannot guarantee them, as we do have to fill every role. It's okay if you're a little confused -- ask for clarification from the people sitting around at auditions if you need any smile If you cannot make it to auditions but can make at least 3/4 of the other events, do PM Arqueete ASAP. If we can set up an alternate audition time with you before late Wednesday you'll be considered for roles just as if you'd shown up to the normal audition times. If we can set up an audition time for you after the show has been cast but before dress rehearsal (aka Thursday the 22nd through Thursday the 29th) you will be considered for a swing position -- swings being people who are on standby to take over a role if the usual actor is unable to play it that night. Non-Dress Rehearsals (Starting 5 PM PST) We will be running two of the pieces at each rehearsal. Non-dress rehearsals are an important time for discussion and such, so I expect to see all cast members there. Thursday May 22nd (Runs in the Family and Don't Ask Don't Tell) Saturday May 23rd (The Silent Treatment and ...And It Rained Fish...) Dress Rehearsals (Starting 5 PM PST) On these nights we will run all four pieces in costume just like performances nights. More information will be sent out to cast members closer to these dates. Sunday May 25th Tuesday May 27th PerformancesCOME SEE US. Friday May 30th Saturday May 31st Monday June 2nd Wednesday June 4th Holy Birthday, Batman! That's right, folks. It snuck up on me too. THE GTC IS TURNING TWO. The end of June marks the anniversary of the beginning of the GTC's history, and of course we must celebrate the occasion. If you have any suggestions, the thread awaits you. I hope to see your participation in the GTC this month, as an audience member or otherwise smile All comments and questions should be left at the thread. --Arqueete Quote: For May, the GTC is pleased to present four nights of a collection of short plays by the awesomely talented Gildedmuse, an English major from Georgia better known for her long list of contributions to fanfiction, particularly in the Rent fandom. The four original pieces of hers (Staged Love; The Silent Treatment; Don't Ask, Don't Tell; and ...And It Rained Fish...) the GTC has chosen to present are at times both comedic and dramatic but always clever and entertaining and we hope you'll enjoy them as much as we have. All four pieces will be performed each night with an expected total running time of about an hour -- come for one, come for two, stay the night, we're happy to have you regardless. All performances start at 5 PST at The Sphere Theatre (58 Barton 001221) and are scheduled for the following dates: Friday May 30th Saturday May 31st Monday June 2nd Wednesday June 4th The cast and crew for this month are as follows (the actors' schedule can be found here): The ActorsIn order of appearance in the cast rotation Prince Joker Madame le Guillotine N00dl3s and be blue TheHooker Princess Koi Cascara Patta Aleksandra MolokovThe Staff Arqueete (Director/Set Designer/Costume Designer: The Silent Treatment and Don't Ask Don't Tell) N00dl3s (Costume Designer: Staged Love) Yo-It--=Shad=- (Costume Designer: ...And It Rained Fish...)
