User ImageWalking through the Mojave desert in the dead of night, you hear the howling of a coyote, the soft pitter-patter of a roadrunner’s feet. The silhouettes of saguaros in the area and other cacti. The dry air and dirt around you, and a clear sky full of stars and one big, fat moon.
Up ahead you see the soft glow of candles, that is the settlement of Beck, population around 700. This land was purchased by Chase Beck, a rich man and he turned it into a town where people can work and live, not to mention a few inns for those passerbys’.
But lately, strange things have started going wrong in Beck. First off, Mr. Beck’s son went missing in the desert, some say that he was taken by monsters. Now people have started to go missing every other night, some say it them coyotes. But young Ms. Beck(Mr. Beck’s daughter) believes it something else, vampires. Out in the wild west?! She must be mad!
Anyways, welcome traveler...

To the Wild West.

Now you listen here and listen good…

1.Follow Gaia Terms Of Service and Guild Rules
2.I am the ‘Leader’ of the roleplay, what I say goes, but I am not over the rules of the roleplay.
3.Fighting is encouraged, but only pistols, knives and maybe even swords are allowed. Bow and Arrows are too.
4.If fighting does occur, no killing without mine and the other roleplayers’ permission, also no godmodding, powerplaying or anything of that sort.
5. Romance is encouraged, but nothing over PG-13, if it does go overboard, time skip and if you do give detail, automatic ban and report.
6.Only as many characters as you can handle
7.Just send profiles in to me, with the title of “Dessert in the Desert” 8.Feel free to decorate your profile, add any code if you want.
9.Please be somewhat literate, that means good grammar, spelling and two sentences a post. Writers block is okay, occasionally, but let it become a habit and you will be kicked out. (If in a conversation, the two lines a post will not apply)
10.If leaving the roleplay or going on vacation, give me notice
11.I have the right to change and add rules if I must, though I do not wish that happens.

Note:Vampires do not sparkle or anything of the sort. The only way to spot them is by a very pale complexion along with almost unnatural beauty. They are not stone hard or cold, and they can be killed with holy water.
Okay, enough with rules. Lets see what you’re made of…

Human Profiles

What They Decided To Call Me
Alice Morwen
I’ve Blown This Many Candles:
Twenty-four
Anyone I Know Would Tell You This:
Coming from a high class society, Alice a girl and was never expected to be anything more than a young woman that would be chauffeured around until she was married off to some wealthy, young man. But Alice proved to be more that just a girl, she proved she was someone who was going to go above others’ expectations. And that is a part of her personality that will most likely stand out once you get to know her a little more. At first glance, she is just any aristocrat girl, with the large vocabulary and typical manners, but once you get to know her better, you can see she is someone who is lonely and is a bit scared of anything.
I Spend My Days Doing This:
A teacher
This Is What Makes Me, Me:
Originally from the East coast, Alice was born and raised in the city, she was always used to the dirty streets and everything being so crammed together. But, she had spent most of her days in her family’s large estate by the seaside. Originally during childhood, her father had only planned for her to learn how to read and write, leaving math for her brother, which was ‘for men’. But she managed to convince her brother to teacher her some of the basic math, and once her father found her working out sets of basic math, he decided she could learn it, but she would have to attend her brother’s tutoring lessons’ to save money. Life was blissfully peaceful from then on, she learned her manners, being groomed for marriage to a young man from a family friend. That is, until her 18th birthday. During that time, people she knew started to disappear. First, it was just mere acquaintances, then distant relatives. During the thirdt year, her friends had gone missing, but she suspected nothing since she had received letters saying they were going to England for unmentioned reasons. The letters were awfully peculiar though, her friend’s handwriting seemed more shaky than normal, as if she was under stress. Finally, in the fourth year, her brother went missing; his body was never found, though some spectate he is still alive. Next, her mother; her body was never found, but they did find her handbag on the beach. And on the December of the last year, her father had died under strange circumstances. He was found asleep in his bed, with puncture wounds in his neck and his body drained of blood.
Through all these strange deaths and disappearances, Alice could not make sense and blamed it on the paranormal. The first thing she did was leave the East and head for the West, hoping for a more peaceful life. But, it seems that that life has followed her to here, with these strange occurrences happening again.

How I Am Noticed:
She is quite educated and is able to read, write, and do arithmetic

Something Else You Should Know:
She is the sole heir to the Morwen fortune, though she refuses to use it that much. There have also been some strange subtractions from her bank account that contains the money.

She was raised to be a silent and obedient child from birth in a small town just south of where she now lived. She was allowed to have a small amount of schooling, enough so she knew how to read and write, and after that, her parents had sent her to be trained as a professional maid. At first, Alanis did not like the change, nor did she like the fact that she had to work for someone, but she eventually warmed up to it as she thought about how great it would be to have a nice mistress.

What They Decided To Call Me:
Alexandria Dean Chase
I’ve Blown This Many Candles:

Anyone I Know Would Tell You This:
Most would describe her as a spit fire. She is strong willed and stubborn almost to a fault. She can be courteous and kind at times, but her temper can easily snap and then rages like a wild fire.
I Spend My Days Doing This:
Saloon Owner
This Is What Makes Me, Me:
The daughter of the long time standing Sheriff of Beck, she grew up only knowing one parent as he mother had died while giving birth to young Alexandria. Though she was mostly raised by her father she also grew up around the deputies and the owner of the local saloon, a Miss. Violet. Miss.Violet had been a childhood friend of her mothers and had sworn to look after Mrs. Chase’s only child ( it was her wish on her death bed) So when Alexis’ father was busy with his duties as Sheriff she often stayed at the saloon. She easily grew up to be tough, learning how to take care of herself at the saloon, she even taught herself how to ride a horse and shoot a gun, though her father watched her while she did the ladder. She grew up to be a tough woman and wanted to eventually become a deputy and then the sheriff, but Miss. Violet passed away after a long fight with an illness and left the Saloon to Alexandria. Alexandria easily took up the reins and continued the Saloon in memory of Miss. Viloet who had run it all on her own. Now Alexandria has run the saloon for the last four years and has settled into this job and grown to love it.
How I Am Noticed:
A crack shot with hand pistols and good in most fighting situations. She can also make the best drinks in the west.

Anyone I Know Would Tell You This:
I am someone who stands up for something I believe in and try to help those who need it. I am very kind hearted and care for those who are less fortunate. I am known to be sarcastic at times and you better watch out when I am angry because I have a fiery temper. I can be known to be somewhat quiet with people I don't know, but can really warm up to those I do.
I Spend My Days Doing This:
Sheriff
This Is What Makes Me, Me:
I lived a typical normal life, my mother a waitress in the local saloon and my father a doctor for the town. I used to spend time with my grandfather, who taught me how to shoot and how to keep law and order in the town, since he was the town sheriff. When I turned eighteen, my grandfather made me the sheriff, since he was getting up there in years. He died about a year later, saying he was proud of me and he knew he left the town in good hands. Now I am the one making sure everything is fine in the town.

What They Decided To Call Me:
Vaughn Kane Barrette
The Mirror Says This:
Twenty-eight
But This Is How Many Years I’ve Been Here:
Two Hundred and Eighty-Three
Anyone I Know Would Tell You This:
He’s a charmer to say the least, he enjoys the company of women and knows his way around one. He seems to be relaxed and calm almost all of the time, but when he’s hungry his temper can be quite volatile and unpredictable
I Spend My Days Doing This:
blacksmith/ horse farmer
This Is What Makes Me, Me:
Vaughn or as most call him Kane, was born nearly three hundred years ago and is probably one of the oldest vampires in this region. He has long learned how to blend into the human race, though he does not think himself one of them, he does enjoy their company once in awhile. He can play himself as a human, making himself nearly indiscriminate from any other human. He likes the life he has now, once hunted by several hunters back in England and France he needed to move from his native land which was France. He moved to the New World and found it peaceful, limiting himself to travelers and those that wouldn’t be missed in the area, but now with these series of disappearance he fears that once again there will be a hunt for his kind.
This Is What Makes Me Even More of a Hunter:
strong ability of suggestion; as long as he has eye contact or physical contact with a human he can suggest things, it does not always work, but helps his prey to forget the experiences they have had or to do things for him, depending on their strength of will and body.
This Is Just Backup:
single hand pistol, shotgun and whip
Something Else You Should Know:
He’s studied hand to hand fighting as well as fencing in his long history, making him quite the opponent.
The Mirror Reflects This:
Kane

What They Decided To Call Me:
Damien Wood
The Mirror Says This:
Twenty-two
But This Is How Many Years I’ve Been Here:
28
Anyone I Know Would Tell You This:
Damien is the kind of guy when he does something, he will put his heart and soul into it, and he will never give up on it until it’s finished. He’s also pretty stubborn at times, so that will usually just add into his good work. Otherwise, Damien is your typical, well mannered and well-knowledged man.
I Spend My Days Doing This:
Any job someone will give to him, as long as it’s good pay.
This Is What Makes Me, Me:
Originally given the name Christian Morwen, he was a good child and a brother too. He had grown up with an easy life, learning was as simple as breathing for him, he was also talented in the arts department. His sister was also a good companion, a bit bothersome at times, but still lovable.
It was around four years ago that he had gotten into some big trouble. He had been leaving a friends house late that night and a gang decided that this ‘rich boy’ needed to be taught a lesson. Even with the skills of fighting he had been taught by his father, he wasn’t able to fend these monsters off, they weren’t human at all.
After a night of agonizing pain, Damien was taken in by the very same group that had changed him, he had no recollection of them actually changing him, and learned the ways of vampirism.
He wasn’t a very good vampire at first, his thirst for blood was uncontrollable and insatiable, but once the first year had gone by, he began to calm down quite a bit. It wasn’t until later than he had learned of his ability, and it really did seem to help a lot in fights. Time continued and he climbed the higher and more secretive ranks of the group with ease, charisma was something that came naturally to him. It wasn’t too long before he was in the higher ranks of the ‘clan’, turning him into the leader of the very same vampires that had changed him. He soon learned that in a series of twisted events, that a few stray vampires had gone and killed his parents, one had been totally devoured and the other had been left in bed for his younger sister to see. After the two rogue vampires had been taken care of, he decided to keep a watchful eye on his younger sister, and protect her. Of course, there was also the family fortune to keep an eye on, he took care of that too (and occasionally dip into it), but he focused more on his sister’s safety.
It later seemed that she decided to move to the west for some, crazy, reason, and Damien left. He decided to use a different name now since he would be in a much smaller town, and he figured his new appearance (the longer hair and glasses) would certainly make him look different.

This Is What Makes Me Even More of a Hunter:
He can manipulate certain senses (one at a time though, so his illusions aren’t that great)
This Is Just Backup:
The “Peacemaker”
Something Else You Should Know:
He is an artist, and is extremely talented at sketching (with charcoal) and painting
The Mirror Reflects This:
Damien

What They Decided To Call Me:
Kirsten Rose
The Mirror Says This:
18
But This Is How Many Years I’ve Been Here:
128
Anyone I Know Would Tell You This:
I tend to keep to myself and I do not like crowded places. I moved to the west hoping to get away from everything, more so the hunts that went on in my old home.
I Spend My Days Doing This:
Hunting others who kill innocence
This Is What Makes Me, Me:
When I was turned, I really had no choice, but I no longer mind. I’ve managed to use the ‘gift’ given to me to help others, mostly humans who are being hunted out by Vampires worse than myself. When I was a fledgling as I called it, I didn’t think I really had a choice to be kind, so I killed when I could. Now that I look back on it, I know I was foolish and should have chosen a different way. My new assignment is to help a female who seems to be being hunted.
This Is What Makes Me Even More of a Hunter:
I can mess with people's minds, more often controlling them so they do my bidding.
This Is Just Backup:
I rather use my fists, I’m not much for weapons
Something Else You Should Know:
I’m not a very violent person, I try to avoid conflict
The Mirror Reflects This:
Kirsten Rose

Alice was off for the day, she didn't have to teach on Saturdays, and that meant she had basically nothing to do. It was going to be a dull day, she didn't grade paper work. Tests were only occasional things that were used to test the knowledge of her students, the rest of the time she was actually teaching them. And it was also because of her job that she didn't fit in so well with the town, she was smarter; she was a woman who was smarter, and higher ranked. These people had come from the East seeking wealth, Alice had only come seeking some sort of refuge, though she had a feeling that that wasn't so anymore.
She sighed, wiping the sweat from her brow. It was uncomfortably warm in these clothes, and she would have gladly switched for lighter cloth, but she had learned her lesson during the little time of spring, the sun will burn, and it will burn bad.

"Enjoyin' yer day off, ma'am?" Alex 'Sixgun' Ward asked, stepping into her room, taking a swig from his hip-flask. "Anything you need of me today? If not, I've got a bounty the sheriff gave me to collect on" Alex added, hand on a gun holster at his side.

It was unbearably hot for someone who wasn't used to over 90 degree summers'. She glanced to her side when she heard someone ask her a question. It was Alex, one of the few people around town who would occasionally talk to her, but that was only because he was her bodyguard. Ever since coming out to the west, she didn't fear she would need once, she was absolutely sure that she could take care of herself. But as soon as the disappearances started up here, she grew scared once again, and too stubborn to run out of the country. "It's fine, and yours?", returning the question had always been a part of a conversation for Alice ever since she had learned how to speak. Alex also mentioned a bounty from the sheriff. Alice had a little bit of trouble understanding such brutality, it was strange to her, and yet death was a familiar face to her as well. "I think...", she paused for a moment, "I'm fine for today". "Good luck on that bounty", she added before finally wiping the sweat off her brow once again.

"Apparently some Indians took over the gold mine over night. And they need someone to lead the group taking it back" Alex said, shaking his head. "Bein' paid 10 dollars for every tomahawk I bring back. The other option was scalpin' them, but even I have standards" Alex added. "Albeit decidedly low standards, compared to yers" Alex said, chuckling, nodding at his employer. "But, you also were raised back east. Things work differently out here. Gotta take the law into yer own hands at times"
PostPosted: Fri Dec 18, 2009 9:53 pm

A few seconds later, there was a soft knock on the rooms door.
"Excuse me Mistress," came a soft voice as a made with black hair poked her head in, "I do not mean to interrupt, but would you and your guest like something to drink?"
Though Alanis was made aware of who Alex was, she was taught to always treat others, as guests of her Mistress, whether they lived in the same house or not.

Alex spoke over Indians taking over a mine, and he was being paid to lead a group to fight them off and take back the mind. "Savage", was the word that came to mind immediately for Alice, she could never understand why people didn't simply follow the law as civilized people did. It was confusing. He mentioned her upraising in the East was probably part of her unfamiliarity with the way of the West, and he was right. "Vigilantism is the way around here, is it not?", she commented on his last sentence.
As Alex finished his sentence the maid entered the room, Alanis was it? She asked if she, Alice, and her guest would like some tea. A hot drink in this hot weather? It seemed crazy enough, but Alice was fancying some Earl Grey, though that would certainly be a bit troublesome to get right now. "The sounds nice", she said, basically saying 'yes' to the maid for her,"I'm not so sure about my guest though", she added, looking over towards Alex. He did say he had to go take care of bounty, and she wasn't sure if he even drank tea.
PostPosted: Fri Dec 18, 2009 10:12 pm

"Fraid' I ain't got time to stick around, little missy" Alex said, chuckling, glancing at Alanis. "I need to hit the trail. "I should be back in about 3 hours, ma'am" Alex added, turning back to Alice, tipping his hat to her. "You take care of yerself while I'm gone, ya hear?" Alex asked, before brushing past Alanis, brushing up against her as he left, his coat fluttering slightly as he left.

Nervously, Alanis turned to Alex and gave him a polite smile.
"Oh... Well... I wish you the best of luck then." she said, then added a bit louder, "Though for future visits, we have pretty much whatever you can think of, at least, that is to my knowledge."
Alanis tried to keep her voice steady as she stared at him before dropping her eyes as she was taught. When he brushed past her, she blushed lightly at the slight contact before looking at her Mistress.
"What would you like to drink Miss?" she asked politely.
