Crimson masquerade where I merely played my part Poison dart of desire"User Image User Image

This was it, Midori was finally on Crimson's tail. He wouldn't be able to escape. He couldn't be able to escape!
The Vanguard slipped up, Midori had beaten a courier to get such information. He was still alive, she had simply knocked him out and took the files for her own. Just one on one, nobody would get in the way. She would wipe the floor with him!
"How are we doing?" Midori asked, jogging up to the lady behind the helm of the Iron Baroness, an airship that was several months in the making.
"Just fine, we'll be crossing Aries's cleave within the hour." The woman responded, peaking out from behind the wheel of the ship; it was Kira, one of Armarus's many leading mechanics. They weren't exactly the only two people aboard, there was an entire crew. But Midori was the only mercenary here. And of course, Kira, or anyone else on the Iron Baroness for that matter, didn't know Midori was guiding them into a fight that a massive portion of them wouldn't survive. Rather, the group was on a mission to retrieve some parts from a downed cargo ship all the way in Kesek. "Perfect, I'll just go head down and make sure everyone's alright." Midori said, her tone serious, as if someone she knew had just been injured. So, with her muramasa placed firmly on the back of her waist, she proceeded to jog down to the deck and finally travel down the corridor to the inner halls of the airship.
The Iron Baroness was a simple ship, built with lightweight steel and propelled by jet engines. It was quite a noisy ship.. That is, if you were on the outside. The outer ship was encased by a paned plexiglass shell, limiting the noise given off. It was made to get the stuff and haul it back, kinda like a freight train.
The demon princess traveled down the dozens and dozens of over sized passageways of the ship until she had reached the cargo bay. What was down here you ask? Dozens and dozens of weapons, firearms, explosives, you name it, it's on this ship.
Kira hadn't bothered to come here earlier. The demoness walked up to an RPG hung up on the wall and looked back towards the door, making sure nobody was going to enter anytime soon and headed down to the large steel gate.
Crimson and his top goons were currently traveling by airship as well, towards some town out in the desert that Midori had passed long ago. This ship's flight was going to come close with the other, so why not just blow the hell out of Crimson's ship for an easy kill? She just had to wait for Kira's signal.
She settled down by the cargo release button and waited for a loud horn.
She waited, waited, and waited some more until..

Bang! The ship took a sudden yank to the right, sending Midori toppling over to the right, the steel frame of the cargo bay hardly made a sound when Midori's skull bashed against it.
"What the- did she crash into something? Up here?" She muttered to herself, she got herself into a sitting position and placed her hand behind her head searching for blood. Thankfully, there wasn't any leak, but even if there had been one, her body would've patched it up quickly. The extremely dangerous and extremely dangerous weapon known as the RPG clanked along the floor. Midori didn't think twice about how it might have blown right then and there when she walked up to it. Her heels clanked along the iron floor, but that sound was dulled out by shrill screams and a blaring alarm. Why did they have to be so loud? Her sensitive ears were a blessing and a curse to Midori, she completely fled the bay, hands over her ears. Kicking down the door to be confronted with panicking crewmen. They weren't exactly taught how to fight after all, just handle machines and stuff! They rushed past Midori, almost knocking her down to gain access to the cargo bay. Not only was it the most safe place on the ship, it was loaded with weapons! This was where they'd probably make their last stand, and most likely die. "Damn cowards." Midori muttered right after being locked out of the false haven and left to fend the ship on her own. She'd better make pace, the Crimsons were here, this was her chance! She could take it all back with a single strike! The reason she had even come to this world returned to her mind, and she took off in search of the grey skinned, red clad man.
Her heart was racing, her adrenaline pumping, she wasn't even on the deck yet, and yet she was acting as if she was staring the man himself down! A quick shove and the door was open, fresh air greeted the maiden. The winds were fierce, the noise still stung her ears. The protective shell of the ship was shattered, tiny pieces lay where she stood. Most of them being blown away by the high speed winds. She rushed out onto the deck, stepping past the bullet filled corpses of two crewsmen.
Not Kira, she was still safe.
She looked to the skies, out over the sea of clouds and there it was.. There he was. A large, no, that'd be an understatement. It was a gigantic airship, red in color. The flag of the Crimsons attached to it's hull and fins, blowing with the wind like a towel blowing in the wind. The head of the ship was sharp, with a large woman on it. The lady resembled someone from Midori's past.. She couldn't place her finger on it though.
"A pirate's life is the only life for me! Teehee!" There she went, Iris, rather than her typical dress, she was all up in a revealing pirate outfit. Boots, fishnet stockings with holes wide enough to put one's fist through, then came something that she called a skirt, dark red with gold stitching, further up from that was a corset that mimicked this color scheme and a little choker and her classic fingerless gloves.
"Yar-har!" She proclaimed, standing tall upon the railing of the ship, right next to Midori's target; the much more foreboding Crimson. His clothes were his namesake; the color of blood. Grey skin, red hair, one eye. His scarf flapped in the wind, giving the man a more dynamic effect, rather than a walking corpse.
"Let's go blow them away, mateys! I wanna skewer every single one of them! Yar-har-har!" Iris shouted once again, before reaching behind her and pulling out some sort of rifle, clearly customized. From here, the words "Here's my gun, now let's see your's." And a prominent heart emblazoned onto the side. "I'll fill every last one of ye land lovers full of lead!" And with that, she opened fire on Midori and the other members of the crew. Midori whipped out Tsukiotoshi and defended herself with it's large blade while the others began dancing the bullet dance as marauders boarded the ship by rope, landing hard on the ship.
"Help! Help!" Someone screamed, from the Iron Baroness. There was that voice again; Kira, at least she wasn't dead yet. She was the only useful one on this ship. Midori waited for Iris to run out of ammo before going into motion again, dashing towards the wheel while evading Iris's fire and cleaving a path through their enemies. Every now and again, Iris would 'accidentally' plant a bullet in the head of one of her own. Did she care? No, in fact, this only caused her to laugh harder.
"Isn't this fun, Crimsy? You never talk to me, honey! Would you mind saying something to me, just this once?" Iris spouted out, taking her eyes off of Midori and turning them to Crimson, who's stoic look remained unchanged. The only thing he did was reach into his pocket and retrieve a candy bar, slowly unwrap it and place it into his mouth before tossing the wrapper to the wind.
"Humph! You just love chocolate, but you won't say anything to me? Please, baby?"
Crimson looked rather young, only looking a year over Kira, the girl Midori was rescuing from a rather generic death right this instant, yet he packed this look of experience. What exactly was he? He was classified as a demon, yet bore an extreme resistance towards anything of the light element.
"Heheeeee!" Iris cackled yet again, blowing up the head of another crewman as her eyes tracked Midori. She dived down to the boarded edge of the ship where Kira was taking cover. Protecting her from the dangerous situation they were currently in.
"Blastthecannoooon!" Iris said something, really fast and all pirate like. Something about a cannon, because that's what the Iron Baroness was pelleted with next. Sending both of them flying away from the edge of the ship and back into shooting range. Kira screamed, being tossed about once again. Midori shouted too, her ears rang for a moment and her vision became clouded with debris. When she looked back towards the ship, she saw the barrel of Iris's rifle, aimed straight at them. "Bye bye, girlies!"

Iris's finger slowly curled around the trigger, eyes dead set upon the two when Crimson abruptly extended his arm towards her. "Stop." He said, in a hushed, whispering voice. Iris pouted, she turned towards Crimson and dropped her gun to the floor. "Fine!" She whined, placing her hands upon her hips. "I don't want to play doctor with you anymore!" She exclaimed, tossing her hands up in the air.
When were they playing doctor? If anything, they were playing cat and mouse, or cops and robbers, or the psycho drunkard blonde shoots an assault rifle at the demonic princess while she attempts to save a mechanic from a generic death. "So, what do you want to do with them?"
"Let them go." Crimson said, still speaking in his whisper of a voice. It was nearly silent in tone, but it was carried upon the winds.
"Let them go? Does she look like she wants to just fly away like nothing happened? She came after us!" Iris exclaimed, throwing her arms in the air once again. She was basically throwing a tantrum, she wanted to kill the two of them so badly, Crimson wouldn't let it happen! Crimson turned silent once again, his mouth burying itself in his scarf once again.
Midori stood up with Kira and pointed towards the door, probably telling her to escape. However, Iris noticed this and quickly shot at the area in front of her, keeping her from running off.
"You're lucky this time, girlies! But don't think we'll let you go so easily next time!" Iris shouted, slowly walking away from the railing of the ship, Crimson began to follow, when Midori; throwing a slight tantrum of her own sped up to the ship's cannon and blasted a gaping hole in the side of Crimson's ship. Nearly taking off the man's head.
"I'm not done with you, Crimson! I'm going to make you pay for everything you've done to me! You're not going to escape from Midori Spira! You're afraid aren't you? A coward!"
Crimson moved back towards the edge of the ship. Looking back down upon the two. His single revealed eye showed irritation. Winds began to whip up around his feet, gently carrying the man into the air, over the Iron Baronness, and down onto it's deck.
"The blind empress seeks battle with an enemy who's skill she cannot see." He muttered, hovering just above the deck, the winds became visible, turned into what seemed to be crimson paint, moving like wind around his feet.
"Spare me your nonsense! You think you scare me?" Midori shouted, drawing Tsukiotoshi yet again. "You fear me! I am Midori Spira; queen of the demons, slayer of millions, conqueror of kingdoms! Even the gatekeeper could not hold a candle to me without it melting into nothingness!"
Kira stood far back, eyes shaking. She stared at the two demons, knowing that no matter how this would go, it'd most likely end with her death. Run, she wanted to run. But Crimson only ordered for Iris to keep Midori alive, not her.
Crimson reached to his sides, slowly pulling out his own muramasa; in fact. Crimson was in possession of two, two that were wiped from the history books. Sarpila and Shokyo.
Spiral and Erase; Muramasas Spiral and Erase.
"You clearly haven't learned anything from your time in this realm" He said, yanking both swords out abruptly. Their black steel and crimson edges. Short swords, daggers in fact. They were mishapen, like a deformed tree. "So, why don't I just give you the speed course?"
Crimson looked up, his eyes saw straight through Midori. That glowing red eye. Crimson meant buisness.

She made the first move, her light feet danced across the iron floor, tapping ever so gently. Midori whipped her demonic sword out from behind her back and slashed across Crimson's chest, in an attempt to sever his body in one fierce swipe. Crimson gently floated backwards with Midori's motion, then suddenly spun around. Effectively evading Midori's attack. The demon twirled his blades once before shooting off like a rocket at Midori's back. She reacted fast, her sword quickly transformed into her bladed talons. Redirecting her momentum, Midori zapped around and blocked Crimson's strike, although her stance crumbled slightly. She drew up her free hand at Crimson's neck, going for the kill strike. But Crimson's second blade was in her path. "You're out of blades!" Midori quipped, "I've still got two more!"
Her foot ran up, going for a chest shot, but Crimson's lack of friction allowed him to easily shoot back, taking Midori's stance with him. She slipped backwards, falling flat on her back. Crimson darted forward, driving his blade down into Midori's chest, only for her to perform a recovery by rolling backwards to her feet.
Her eyes shined bloodshot; she had seen that move before.
Counter time! Midori thrusted forward with her talons, but was deflected by Crimson's jagged blade. But, with a quick style swap, she twirled around to his side and slashed at his side with her other claw, Only to be deflected again. Then she leaped up above, slashed there, only for Crimson to momentarily land and take a deep breath, puffing out his chest slightly. When Midori landed and took another shot at Crimson, he quickly jerked his head to look at her and left forth a burst crimson fires escape from his lips, effectively blowing the demoness far away. She shouted in astonishment, just before she went into a roll along the deck, bounced once and then returned to her feet. Grinding her hand along the deck, tearing it up to keep herself from stumbling or falling back. Crimson remained where he was. Staring her down with that one eye.
"Playtime is over, Crimsy!" Midori yelled, acting as if she was the one winning. All she was doing was dodging Crimson's moves. She sprouted a pair of cat like ears, and a long tail with a jagged end. Whiskers spawned upon her face, and although her hands didn't turn into paws, she did gain a small bit a of upon them. Dark blue hair to be exact.
She bolted back at Crimson, running on all fours at first, then eventually built up back to two when close. Her eyes went outright red now, her heart raced. Adrenaline pumped through her inhumane veins. Clash of steel, sparks flew, then thousands more. The two were swinging their swords at an astonishingly quick pace, not to mention Midori was also constantly sliding and swiping to different angles.
Then, all of a sudden, Crimson vanished, right before Midori threw a shot at his neck.
"Where'd you go?"
"Up there!" Kira shouted out, standing from far away. She pointed up at the sky, Midori's neck shot upwards, looking to the skies and above. Crimson was in the air, having quickly blasted himself up there. He put his arms far out to the side, his twin muramasa split into eight individual edges each. His single revealed eye flashed bright, nearly blinding them.
"You're in for it now!" Iris screamed from the Crimson's own airship.
That's when it struck, Crimson's multi-pronged swords slashed down upon the Iron Baroness, each shooting out a crecent moon like wave, each of them colored Crimson, like his namesake.
This move, was something Midori remembered as well. It tore the very things that made a person special from their body for a limited amount of time; in this case; It was Midori's demon traits. Her healing, advanced durability and strength, the whole shebang. Midori dashed to escape the rain of piercing blades. She evaded, however the ship's durability suffered greatly.
And by suffer, I mean, it fell apart completely. Sixteen clean cuts through the hull of the airship. Explosions resounded, the whole thing went down.
Crimson gently landed back upon his own ship, Midori ran to the edge of the ship, leaving Kira to panic and try to desperately find a safe way off the ship. Midori literally jumped onto the Crimson's ship, grasping one of the sails. Kira attempted to do the same, however only ended up landing wrong and ripping the sail.
"Help!" She cried out, getting only a glance from Midori as she climbed up the ship. When it appeared she reached a window, Iris popped out and smashed her bat down upon Midori's finger.
"Heheee! No stowaways!" She taunted. Watching Midori tumble into the clouds, followed by Kira. Both were screaming at the top of their lungs.
"Buh-bye!"
