I'm a huge fan of Japanese and Chinese music. It's pretty much all I listen to anymore. Anyone else share my passion for Asian music?

I like Japanese music, and not just stuff from animes, either. I'm a music geek, and I like the way that Asian music uses quarter tones instead of the half tones Western music does. Also, we had a taiko drum demonstration at our school a couple years ago, and I found it fascinating.

Sileny I like Japanese music, and not just stuff from animes, either. I'm a music geek, and I like the way that Asian music uses quarter tones instead of the half tones Western music does. Also, we had a taiko drum demonstration at our school a couple years ago, and I found it fascinating. I know exactly what you mean, the tonic and pentatonic chords used in traditional asian music are gorgeous, they add such a contrast to the equal temperment used in western orchestral music. I love the way the music sounds so free and pure, I think it's due to the fact that no matter what note they play in their scale it always harmonizes beautifully. I really love the Ehru and Chinese opera's are REALLY REALLY GORGEOUS I have a recording of "Butterfly Lovers" which is by far my favorite I really enjoy it when performed by orchestra with and Ehru soloist as appossed to vocalists. Traditional asian vocalists are much to nazally for my taste and I don't like the tone of traditional japanese singers since all of the sound comes from the back of the throat, as far as traditional operatic pieces I prefer western music since it sounds cleaner. I'm a music geek too xd NOW FOR MODERN MUSIC Yes I really like modern asian music not as much as american or latin music but it's about the same all the way around I'm a very open minded individual. I really like Japanese and Korean music, not to sound like a total japanophile or an OOBER OTAKU(sarcasmplz) but I really like Gackt he's an awesome singer and I especially love it when he sings in INGURISH, and I also like The Pillows just 'cause they pwn. As far as Korean music The Trax are my favorite band. And of course you gots to love the filipino music with the OTSO OTSO (greatest dance of all time) and I really like indian music especially indian and seikh hip-hop

I like Joe Hisaishi. But I also like Lang Lang, the piano player. He's really good.

I haven't heard very much Asian music, to be honest. sweatdrop I have a couple Anime soundtracks and the Twelve Girls Band Eastern Energy album, but that's really it, so I can't possibly pick my favorite. We're playing Variations on a Korean Folk Song (John Barnes Chance) for band, though, and I love that song.

We sang 'Arirang', a Korean song in chorus last year. It was really pretty. It was about a mountain, and my grandpa, who was in the Korean war, showed me on a map where the real mountain was.

I'm mostly into J-pop. I don't really have a fav artist, I just kinda like them all, you know. All except anything from Puffy Ami Umi. Some songs from Chihiro Onitsuka could drive you on the verge of insanity, but then again, I like 'Art of Life' by X-Japan(Which is over 25 minutes long>_<).

The longest song I have on my iPod is just over eight minutes long. How can you find the time to sit still and listen for that long?
