Just my scarcatic view on today's holiday. Considering its the feast day of a saint who brought Christainy to Ireland basically and lived a fairly interesting life as he was kidnapped and taken to Irenland to be a slave at 16 for the next 6 years of his life....and yet to celebrate it everyone seems to get drunk....I find it sad.

Yeah--the Irish don't actually celebrate it that much. They don't wear green, or cook special meals, or cook corned beef and cabbage. (Which they did at my school).
But I have to admit it was fun to go around telling everyone I would pinch them if they weren't wearing green. rofl

Oh, it is an interesting holiday no doubt. Work last night was interesting as a bunch of drunk people came in while I did drinks for the front asking really werid and stupid questions...(do you sell hamburgers? - hint, I work at Wendys...what do you think?") so yeah.

It's weird. Even something with an Irish name is popular on that day. My sister's birthday is the 18th, the day after, so we went to get her some of her favorite ice cream, Dublin Mudslide, but there was only one pint left! I almost froze my arm off reaching for it!

No doubt, It is kind of sad. But, Like any other Holiday there are many folks who go overboard.

A lot of holidays are over-rated and people go overboard losing the real meaning. Look at Valentine's day. It is the feast day of St. Valentine who had his head cut off for defing Emerpor Claudus in giving up Christanity. And we give love letters and chocolates..

Yeah. All holidays have meaning behind them, but it's usually not the meaning that's widely known. Halloween is Samhain, Easter is the resurrection of Jesus, not a time to recieve large statues of chocolate rabbits, and so on.

Most Christian holidays are based off of Pagan holidays.... the Christians corrupted them... stare
