The day had been less than ideal. The herd had traversed the usual route, through the large deciduous forest that ran through the center of the soquili lands. The large redwoods reached up to the sky, blanketing the forest below from the midsummer sun and dampening the effects of its heat. It had been a pleasant hike, not strenuous in the least. Mosses and grasses blanketed the rocks and logs, providing ample feeding for the herbivore's of the group. But the day had not been as successful for the carnivore's. Nothing was on the move. Everyone in the group was on edge, as empty bellies made tempers flare quicker than normal. The herd had wandered until sunset, and as the last beams of light filtered through the branches, the group decided to call it a night in the forest. Another situation that wasn't ideal. There was nothing but moss and trees. No elevation changes or large rocks to take cover by. Essentially it was an abysmal place to secure, and although the larger members of the group held the perimeter, it still was not a great place to set up camp. But, what could you do when you were in the wilds? Make do with what you have.

User Image: Nocturnal growled lightly under his breath, unhappy with the rumblings of hunger that lingered in his ribcage. Very seldom was he envious of his herbivore mates, but today was one of those days. There hadn't been even a whiff of prey and the small horse-cat was grumpy at the lack of sustenance. Needless to say, his temper was all but fried and he wanted nothing more than to snuggle down with his mates for the night.
