Okay, so if you've read the rules section, you've seen me blabber on about this type of stuff endlessly. If you already understand the whole "This isn't about winning or losing" thing, then there's a good chance you don't need to read this. But just in case... READ IT ANYWAYS! So in this thread, I will attempt to bestow decent advice onto all of you, I will update this thread if I can after I see how well everything works out and if I see particular ways of doing things working out well for certain people. First off, if you have a match with somebody... PRIVATE MESSAGE THEM. This might as well be a rule! I cannot stress how important it is to talk to them! I'm not saying you should intricately plan everything out, but talk to them, figure out what kind of story you want to tell from this fight, figure out who the winner is in A ******** CIVIL MANNER. Not only will the RP be surprisingly more fun this way, but you'll likely make friends with EVERYBODY this way.
For the love of god, no aggressive RPing. Basically, don't try to push your character as the ultimate winner of everything. If we see that you are winning too much (with no justification) and that you are annoying other RPers, we will either contact you, or in extreme cases, ban you. We understand that everybody wants to win, but that simply isn't possible, no body will have a perfect record. On the opposite side, respect the other characters and their pasts. If you feel it would benefit THEIR character more if they won, let them have the win. If one character is more of a new guy or something and another character is a more experienced, successful character... give them the win, unless you two work out some sort of underdog win or something.
Lastly, make it about MORE than just the matches. The matches are a unique way of storytelling, more than just a fight. Learn to develop your characters, to show personality, and tell a cohesive storyline through these matches. If you have a lot of chemistry with another RPer, or you see gold in a potential rivalry between two characters, try your best to highlight this and make it into a rivalry that lasts more than just a match. If we see you making an effort to tell a storyline, we'll bow to your demands and do our best to give you segments to a show so you may be able to properly tell the storyline.
That's all for now, what else can I say?
Oh I know!
Don't be a d**k!
