Since I am debating this in my debate class, I am in need of a debate elsewhere about this topic.

What is your stance on Gay Marriage?
Especially in America
PostPosted: Thu Oct 19, 2006 2:19 pm

I am of the mindset that unless I turn lesbian or bisexual, & ever WANT to get married, that it really isn't my business. Let them marry if they want, they aren't hurting anyone from what I can tell.

My stance is that it has no bearing on you which hole a man decides to stick his p***s in.

So don't restrict him when it will be of no benefit or detriment to you.
(Same goes for lesbians, obviously)

I'm all for gay marriage.
I've no problem with it or gay people.

I'm not religious and I won't pretend to know everything about it all.
..but ehm.. from what I understood, marriage itself is a sin.
Sooo... if you're straight and get married--you're going to Hell. If you're gay and get married--you're going to Hell.
I found it kind of amusing. >.>;;

i think that marrige is purly a religous thing and if they dissaprove of gay marriage then that's their decision but there should be a legal option that alows two people of the same gender to join in a way that protects the aspects of both parties and stands as a legal and binding contract, not nesseserly marrage.
we cant expect to change the veiws of a religion in the same way we can't expect a religion to change the views of an individual!!

Religion seems to (f/m)uck up everything. Where exactly is the logic behind banning it? Anf don't you dare hide behind Jesus on this one, He won't help you.

the point is, when logic is added to this topic, banning gay marriage seems a total waste of time.

I believe that gays should be allowed to marry...
Love is love, it doesn't matter who it's between
and yes I know that the quote above is overused

Besides, if Gay people want to be just as miserable as married straight people, let them....

People that are against usually say that its against God and all that.
What they should stop doing, is quit with the emotional reasoning.
They need to realize that not everybody believes their ways, thats what makes this country so great. ((not saying we're the best though))
But another thing, if we're to have rights for all our citizens, why are they taking away the right to marriage?

The only married people who are miserable are the stupid ones who can't dintiguish between love and "hey, that guy is kinda cool!"

That joke is old, lame, and only applies to idiot. If you are unhappyt with your marrige, it is your goddamn fault for not cosidering it hard enough.

The concept of marriage has been around longer than Christianity (albeight in different names and forms) and has appeared in other faith/belief systems. In a legal sense there can only be opposition to it in a religious state, and America is a secular state.

The only issue I that remains in my mind is parenting within same sex couples. I strongly doubt it has naturally adverse effects, but I don't have any info to go by.

CIVIL UNION

Civil union is not equal to marriage, though.
Civil unions are often not recognized outside of the state they are granted in and don't include such rights as joint tax-filing and automatic inheretance.

If civil unions had the same rights as marriage, I would be okay with marriage remaining strictly heterosexual. It's just a word.
But as long as you can't have the same rights, I can't support it.

I'm for Gay Marriage, because I have yet to find a reason to haet Gays or Lesbians, and I've heard far too many dumb a** excuses to ever change my mind.

Gays and Lesbians are an essential part of society, no matter where you are. You have to have balance, after all, in order for a society to work.

I'm for Gays and Lesbs.
Sure, I don't want to be a Lesbo, but why should I not let two people who are in love get married?

Pssshah.
A lot of people are against the Gays though.

But, what can you do about it?
