The dark side of the forrest In the outskirts of the Blathanna Forrest is a dark swamp-like section, very little light enters here, odd species emerge. This is where the Woofies were first found.

The defeat that Sapia had faced in the past week had left her with a rather large void in her. She couldn't bear the fact that she froze up in front of Scur AGAIN. There was a rather clear shot as though he were practically daring her to hit him and yet she couldn't do it. Her battered pride and broken soul lead her to the darkest regions of the forest. She had spent many days here as a child as a way to get away from everything. The air felt so heavy and thick that no other Blath dared to come and yet it made her feel more at home than anything else. She made a nest amongst a thorny bush and sighed heavily. Though the thorns left scratches and scrapes she welcomed them, it felt nice to just feel the heat from pain sometimes. It made her feel that she still existed. She lay her body down and put her heads on her paws. Her emerald eyes shut tight, absorbing the atmosphere.
"What's wrong with me...? Why can't I just strike the brat?" she mused to herself. "Does he scare me that much?" Her eyes opened instantly and she grit her teeth. "No. I'm not afraid of anything, it's just... just..." she couldn't finish it. "I HATE HIM!" She roared into the forest.

Raymond's ears perked up at Sapia's shout, he knew she was in here somewhere, but he had not been able to find her despite over an hour of searching. "Sapia, is that you?" He shouted, scanning his head from side to side, letting his ears search independently for sounds. He growled a decidedly non-angelic series of words as he tripped over a protruding root and snarled his front left paw in some brambles, then yanked it free again and continued, ignoring the small cuts the thorns had made in his skin. "Hey Sapia, it's Raymond! Are you in here somewhere?"

A familiar voice jolted Sapia from her seething. Her ears perked up ever so slightly and she crawled out of her thorny nest. "I'm here, Raymond!" she cried back. It only took a moment before she realized she gave away her postion and her eyes shifted back and forth rapidly. It wasn't like her to just call out, she did escape here to get away from everyone else. It certainly didn't help that she didn't want him to see her in such a shoddy shape, the cuts and scrapes that she had received were still fresh and dripping with blood. Slowly, she withdrew back into her thorn bush.

"I'll be there in a second," Raymond shouted, "these vicious little weeds are sort of making this a pain." He shouldered his way through another cluster of brambles, thankful for his fur which shrugged off the worst of the thorns before they could touch his skin below. He followed his ears carefully towards the spot where he heard Sapia's voice, and as he closed in he was able to pick up her scent and use that as well.
He stopped just in front of her bush and looked around, sniffing the air. "I think I'm close, Sapia." He used a quieter tone, guessing that she was somewhere near enough that he would not need to bellow. "Are you ok, I can smell blood!"

Sapia withdrew a bit more as Raymond grew close, resisting the desire to reveal to him where she was. Why did he come for her? Sure she had been gone for a good deal of time but she wasn't expecting much, she never did. The cuts and scrapes that marked Raymond's ankles and feet caught her eye and she blinked. Though they didn't look terribly deep she still felt a twinge of... something she couldn't define. Pity maybe? She let out a silent sigh before crawling out of the thorn bush. "I'm here. Why did you come looking for me?" she did her best to keep her tone clear and calm but she half-gritted it out. She attempted to picture herself through his eyes, her fur was probably matted from blood and, considering she didn't care to groom herself too much in the past few days, she probably was caked in dust. "I'm a mess. I know." her eyes pointed downwards.

Raymond stepped back a little to give Sapia room to climb out of the bush, his eyes carefully inspecting her for injuries. Though she seemed to have a great number of small cuts and gouges from the thorns, none appeared more than skin deep. He relaxed a little bit then, he had been worried that she was really hurt. His own minor scrapes were ignored totally, he would deal with those later, when it was convenient.
"Ahh, there you are, Sapia." He smiled at her, pleasantly enough. "I hadn't seen you around for a bit, and I was worried that you might be hurt. And you're not THAT much of a mess, I'm not in precisely great shape either. This godforsaken thorn pile. Grah." He shook his head. Though his tone was casual, he was really very glad to see the female Blath, he had missed her and her casual sense of humor around in the evenings.

Sapia kept her eyes averted, though she couldn't help but smile a little at his concern. Someone actually cared that she was away? Raymond was strange to her, but at the same time the most intelligent Blath she had ever encountered. Emerald eyes rose to meet Raymond's, before the same trademark grin spread across her features. "Of course I'm not that much of a mess. I'm Sapia. Heh..." With her sense of pride returned she couldn't help but puff out her chest a bit. She wasn't one to show weakness or to be self-conscience and it only took a moment to recoil back into her old self.
She sat back and examined the damage that was done to Raymond. "You look a bit banged up though. Hope the journey here wasn't too rough on you. My hiding place isn't kind to those that aren't ready for it."

Raymond grinned. "Now THAT is more the Sapia we all know and love." He chuckled, glad to see that she was her usual self. He looked down at himself, and noticed for the first time the diverse collection of contusions and minor lacerations he had acquired on the way in. "Well, unfortunately being the patron of sailors does not automatically give you the abilities of a Navy SEAL. Closest I've been to this mess of brambles in years are camping trips." He laughed at his own condition. "I really should get out into the woods more, I suppose."
He tilted his head slightly to the side, a pose he often assumed when he was considering something. "So, you come out here often, Sapia?"

Sapia grinned a bit, and gave Raymond a playful nudge. "It actually looks good on you. Makes you look more rugged." She chuckled before rising from where she was sitting and taking a good look at her surroundings.
"I come here to get away from civilization as often times as I feel I need it. So it really depends." Her gaze turned back to Raymond. "Ever since that... incident I've been needing an escape." Her muscles tightened at just mentioning it, but quickly relaxed. "This place is like my home... even these scratches feel nice. Makes me feel as though I'm still here, you know?" It was the first time she ever really spoke of this place so she felt a little awkward trying to explain it. She hoped she was making sense of some kind.

Raymond nodded in understanding. "I know what you mean, Sapia. My refuge like that is, unsurprisingly, the sea. The total blankness of an open ocean is rather comforting for me, when there is nothing at all around but me right out to the edge of the horizon." He smiled. "This kind of place is not really my kettle of fish, probably just because I am unused to it, but I can easily see how it would be an excellent place to withdraw to for a while."
He smiled and looked over at Sapia. "That little incident the other day was rather tense for a while. I'm glad it worked out all right, though. There was no real way for us to win that time, and half the battle is knowing when NOT to fight."

Sapia went quiet for a moment, thinking over and trying to picture what Raymond was describing for her. She had always been a land dweller and never even thought to approach the sea. "I guess that's another thing I should have you do for me. I've never even seen the sea." She tried to picture herself amongst never ending water, but it was difficult. The only exposure she had to water was of small bodies.
Sapia's brows furrowed at the mention of it. She still felt cowardly for having backed down to Scur, not like she would mention it. Her pride needed repairing after all. "I suppose. Though I swear I'll get back at that brat... I should've taken care of him when I had the chance." She left the though of which brat up to Raymond. Both had gotten on her nerves but only one left a lasting impression.

Raymond looked surprised. "You mean that you have never seen the ocean? Wow, some day we should go out for a day cruise on something small. It's a real experience." He could not imagine never having been out to sea, it was where he was at his most comfortable.
He watched Sapia as she spoke of the minor altercation they had been in the other day, and slowly the reason behind her irking began to dawn on him. He smiled. "Of course we will, it's just a matter of picking the right time when we will have the advantage. I might get in a tad little bit of trouble for it, but I don't really care, I'm a sailor, so I was BORN in trouble."
