Alot of people i've met have very particular settings in which they like to write, so I thought it would make an interesting topic for the forums.

Personally, i have two prefered places to write in although if neither are available i'm quite happy to settle for anywhere.

The first and most used of the forementioned settings is a large white desk opposite my bed, where i keep my old computer. Generally, i write on the computer. My desk lamp is always set on low, and i am surrounded by shelves of my favourite books and objects for inspiration.

The second, is to take my writing book and pacer down into the bush. There are two rocks, each overlooking a small creek where i sit and get stuck into my work. This is always late afternoon after school, as the last sunlight is creeping over the horizon. For some reason my book, pacer and location are all huge factors in me being inspired to write. Then again, i'm funny like that.

So do you have any funny paticulars about where and how you write? If so, do share! I'd love to hear them.

xd I normally write (type) at my desk on my computer but a lot of times I'll be scribbling in the margins of my notebooks during class (my professors are so oblivious). If I scanned in a page of my economic notes everyone would be horrified (I may just have to do that cause I'm sure someone would understand my pain).

If I get really lazy I'll unplug my computer and get on my comfy dorm bed and write but that doesn't happen a lot (My legs get hot from the battery).

I tend to write when I'm at my computer... or in math class. But seriously in school I mainly doodle in the margins.. and everywhere where there isin't any text, my old teacher actualyl quite often either handed out blank papers to me to doodle on, or forgot and said something along the lines of "Remember I want everyones papers back after class..... except for Karin's... *slaps forhead*"... if you guys saw my old electronics papers and stuff you'd think a 3 year old had gotten their hands on them.

But in general I tend to doodle when I'm not at home, but get inspierd to write. And when I'm home I try to write but get inspierd to draw instead, which usually ends up confusing me to the point where I get nothing done... yes I'm horrible ^^;

Get one of those 'lapdesk' thingies...with the beanbag part underneath and the desk part on top...I've found they work wonders for laptop-ness smile I used to use a pillow without the topper on it, but it overheated the laptop and eventually fried the whole thing...rofl!

Let's see...where to write....at the moment I'm kind of 'between places'. I used to have a chest in my closet that I would haul out so I could sit in the empty space and write in the closet, however silly that may sound. For my apartment, I had bought a big armchair with an ottoman, and that was hands-down the most comfy place to write, other than alongside the creek in the woods on my college campus. Here, I write at my desk, in bed, in the library (we're renting from a friend and he's got a room with a bunch of bookshelves stuck up in it...cozy, good inspiration, but no chairs...and the carpet isn't comfy), at the public library, and at my work desk during breaks at work. I carry a notepad with me in case inspiration strikes...and I'm hoping that when we move 1) we'll have comfy carpet so I can lounge again, and 2) I can set up seating in the backyard for more natural inspirations smile

Well, you make do with what you have. Mine's a small space at one corner of the room, where I put my PC write beside my 29" colored TV. Distracting when I play the DVDs while writing, plus the noise and such. The only thing I really like is the open window right beside me, where I can feel the breeze.

My dream place? In a quaint little cottage, up in the mountains, surrounded by trees with a great view of the city and especially the bay from afar. Also, near me would be a neat little stack of my favorite books for inspiration.

I like writing in my bed, or while I'm outside walking somewhere.

There is so much inspiration in the air. biggrin

I tend to write inside what my father has come to call "The Cave". It is a small little corner of my room with my desk set up beneath a loft bed, a shelf of books to either side. It forms a little nook where my chair can be slid around be the only way to enter is at my back. I also tend to write in the dark. =x

As much as I would love to take a notebook wherever inspiration strikes me I cannot write long hand for prolonged periods of time due to the fact that I am dysgraphic I cannot write long hand for prolong periods of time without my wrist hurting like hell, my handwriting becoming sloppy, and (I was told) damaging my wrist.

I love writing on laptops for some reason, its better than sitting at the computer desk - maybe because I can adjust the angle of the laptop so no-one can read what I'm writing. I hate that, when people peak over your shoulders and read it before you're ready :XP:.

This is the best part, especially in winter.

XD I have to write on the computer. For some reason, it never sounds good if I just write it out on paper. It's very bland. So I write in the computer room (duh XP).

I wish I had a laptop. I only have a desktop. I always used to draw or do my homework on the floor, so my mom decided to get me a desk. It's actually a rather nice desk, but I can't seem to leave the floor. That's why I want a laptop. So I can write where I'm most comfortable--on the floor. I also always need my playlists or I can't write. And I've always wanted to write in a cafe where I'd have an infinite (though expensive) supply of lattes and muffins.

Siatara, that closet space actually sounds rather nice.

Anyone else like the floor?

I miss that closet space.....but I'll actually have a full-fledged writing space in the room we've designated as a library in our new house... smile Corner comfy chair, writing resources scattered around...ahhh life is good!
