The Age

Prologue Part One

When the earth was young, before any living thing inhabited it, God, our heavenly father, planted a grand tree. The tree would grow all nature on the earth, grass, trees, plants, its roots spread deep, down into the very core of the planet itself. The magma within the earth was the tree’s life source.
One million years passed since the day the tree was created, then, God made humanoids, elves shaped like men, except their ears were pointed at the tip, and they were taller and more fair than men..
One night, when Saromina (sar-oh-mee-nah), King of the elves, was sleeping, he had received a vision from the Lord, to build a grand fortress around the grand tree in God’s name. There was one problem however, the entire world was covered in trees, and there were only small clearings here and there where the elves built camps. To build a fortress, would take many tools, tools that hadn’t even been thought of yet. But God had plans for Saromina, and put knowledge in certain elves of how to make tools and weapons out of stone, wood and metal. Saromina called these few, “architects,” the ones who made the tools and weapons, “blacksmiths,” and the ones who built the homes, “workers”.
When all this had happened, Saromina requested that one-hundred axes be made and requested one-hundred workers to chop down the trees around the great tree. After three months, all the trees within a two-hundred mile radius were cleared and the building was about to begin.
All of the architects were summoned to Saromina’s grand tent. They were to make the blueprints of the fortress. The fortress was to cover the entire clearing around the Great Tree. After several weeks, the architects finished the blueprints for the fortress.
Saromina summoned one-hundred blacksmiths to the building site and requested five-hundred tools be made for the building to begin. When all the tools were made, Saromina summoned two-hundred workers to build the grand fortress, following each and every instruction noted on the blueprints.
Several years passed, the fortress was almost finished and at Saromina’s old age he passed. The entire elven race mourned for the loss of their king. Saromina’s eldest son, Saromira (Sar-oh-mee-rah), knew that this was not what his father would have wanted, so he ordered the elves to go back too their daily lives and mourn no longer for their fallen king.
Three months after Saromina died, the fortress was finished with a large crypt built into it behind the throne room and Saromina’s coffin was put in the exact center, on a raised platform with lamps on each side of the coffin.
The newly built fortress was named “Grand City of Saromina”, dedicated in the dead King’s name.
Saromira was now seated upon the throne and he was also a follower of God.
Two weeks after the fortress was built, word spread to Saromira’s ears of elven like people, only they did not have pointed ears and were not as tall or as fair. God had finally created men! Saromira had a vision from God of this happening, and so, he sent out ambassadors to the new race to welcome them and make an alliance, he sent along with the ambassadors five guards incase the humans were hostile.
The ambassadors and the five guards came back two days later with thirty humans, three were human boys, two were human girls, twelve were men, and thirteen were women. The guards escorted the human’s leading man and woman to the throne room where two thrones were awaiting them. The man and woman sat down on the thrones and listened to Saromira. He welcomed the two warmly, and they talked of an alliance between the two peoples, the man and woman agreed to think on it for two days and come back to the elfish king on their decision.
After two days in the Elvin kingdom, the two human leaders agreed to ally with the hospitable elves, and left to bring the rest of the humans to the fortress.
After one week, the humans had come back with about one-hundred and fifty people. The elves trained the humans in the way of swordsmanship, archery and daggers. After a while, the two races mended together with each other. The half men half elf race was called Felm. The Felm were exceptionally good at the fighting styles of the elves and most of them became the city’s armies and guards.
Again, word spread to Saromira of an upcoming race. This time, however, God had not told Saromira about it. Saromira had never heard what they looked like, all he knew is that they had greenish skin, and attacked with spears. Saromira held council with the three race’s leaders. After about a five hour council, they had decided to send out two human ambassadors and ten Felm guards on the journey. After two months, the city hadn’t received any word of the ambassador’s journey.
After a while, God finally came to Saromira with a vision of the ambassadors had been assassinated by the green skins. The green skins had longer pointed ears then elves, wore large pearl earrings, were taller then the elves and had red hair.
After this vision, Saromira announced that this race was hostile; the race was named Troll, which in elf meant “Killer”.
Saromira sent twenty Felm warriors to send a message to the Troll leader using an arrow. After two days, the warriors came back. The message pinned on the Troll king’s throne read:

Troll King,
I am declaring war on your race, I sent ambassadors to greet you three months ago, and you killed them using spears. You have the chance to surrender now in front of my great fortress, or you can gather your troops and meet me on the field of battle on the middle of the plain northwest of my fortress, and northeast of your camp.
Elven King Saromira

Several weeks past, then a rock came over the fortress wall with a reply:

Saromira,
Me be happy to meet joo on plain. Me kill all joo men and den burn down joo city. I no think you gonna wanna come.
Tekan

Saromira just laughed and gathered two-hundred of his finest troops and rode out with them to the plain. After five days of camping, the trolls finally came during the night. They decided to set up camp and both the races slept for the night, waiting until morning.
Morning came quickly, and both of the armies got ready for the grand battle that was about to begin. The trolls gathered their axes, spears and leather armor. The elves gathered swords, spears, bow and arrows, axes, clubs, put on mithril and strong metal armor. The elves got onto their horses while the trolls stayed on foot. Both armies faced each other, the elves’ horses whinnying, and the trolls snorting and growling, finally, the trolls threw an axe and the battle began. After several hours, the casualties were piling up for the trolls, the elves had lost only thirty men, while the trolls, who were of three-hundred, had already lost two-hundred and sixty men, the forty left were elite, king’s guardsmen and the king himself. The battle raged farther on into the night, and finally, Saromira caught sight of the troll king, he was the only troll left standing, Saromira requested a duel to the death, and the troll king accepted. The entire army cleared a large circle for the duel and watched their king battle to the death with this disgusting creature. The troll king Tekan and the Elven king Saromira’s battle raged until the next day, where the troll king had gotten very sloppy and tired, the elfish king took advantage and sliced off the troll king’s head.
After the battle, the army rested in their camps one more time and then when it was morning, rode mostly on horseback to the fortress. The two city guards stationed outside the door of the city yelled into the city “The king and his men have returned, open the door!” The door slowly opened and the elven army came inside.
The next day, the king held a grand banquet and everyone in the city was invited. In the middle of the banquet someone had asked Saromira to tell everyone of the war, he replied saying, “The week of battle seemed like an age of fighting and grief. The troll king’s men were grand warriors indeed, but they had only poor leather armor, so we killed every last one of them quite easily.” Everyone at the feast laughed and ate and told jokes and the king’s joker preformed, everyone had the grandest time, a grand time, before the new age of death and destruction.

The Age

Prologue Part Two

After the battle on the plain between the Elves and the trolls, the elves had named the plain “The Plain of Death” and no-one ever went there anymore.
Also after the battle and two days after the feast celebrating the army’s return, something had happened to Saromira; he passed out on his throne. Every physician in the kingdom came to his aid trying to figure out what had happened. It turns out that the Troll king had one last trick up his sleeve. You see, during the battle, the Troll king gave Saromira several wounds with his sword, the physicians discovered that the sword had a poison blade. This was not good news for the king in any way. Saromira knew he was going to die, so he asked God to forgive him of any sin he had ever made. That night, Saromira passed away in his sleep and every villager and every noble came to the funeral of the fallen king.
After his father’s death, Saromira’s son came to power. This new king’s name was Mesonira (Meh-soh-nee-rah). Which many mistook for the word “Masonry” but many just called him the king’s son.
Several weeks after Mesonira came to the throne, he had passed a law that no-one was ever to leave or enter the fortress at night, if anyone was caught trying to sneak out, they would have to deal with the guards. No-one liked this idea one bit, but no-one had the power or courage to try and stop him! Mesonira had no siblings at all, and for that, he grew up wicked and untrustworthy.
Late at night, people could see someone go straight past the guards and out of the city. Everyone knew it could only be Mesonira but no one had the courage to confront him.
After that went on for a while, the villagers of the fortress had hired someone to secretly follow the king. That night, when the king left the fortress, the person the village hired followed after him. The king came into a grove right next to the plain of death, there he met a hideous troll female! They were alone in the grove, or so they thought. The hired follower was right above them in a tree, watching the king and his female friend.
After two hours of watching them talk, the follower fell asleep. As soon as the follower woke up the king was gone! So was the other! The follower jumped from the tree and suddenly, three guards came out of the bushes with their spears pointed at the follower.
The follower crouched down and took a dagger out of its boot, and stood up, ready to fight. Mesonira laughed at the follower and told the guards to attack, and they did. All the guards attacked at once with their spears pointed straight at the follower. The follower spun around with the dagger reached out and cut off the ends of the spears. The guards were wide eyed and ran away. Mesonira called them cowards and looked at the follower saying, “Hmm… You are quite the talented one, aren’t you? Well we’ll soon take care of that!” Mesonira took out a sword from a sheath on his side and pointed it at the follower. The follower jumped up and landed on their previous resting place on a tree limb. The follower jumped from tree to tree and got away.
When Mesonira returned to the fortress, he announced the treachery. He proclaimed that anyone found to have anything to do with this would be put to the sword… This was a dark time for the entire elven population.
