Unlike most immortals of the lycan breed, Marissa Léteal, a female werewolf, she actually takes the time to decorate her chosen cave within the lycan complex. Using funds that she relieves her male victims of, Marissa travels to mortal craftsmen that construct furniture and other items to fill her living space. Sturdy wooden and metal furnishings create a sense of satisfaction in the female as she is thusly allowed to keep some of her humanity. While not nearly as flashy or as decadent as her vampire cousins, the lycaness keeps her space practical and functioning. Nearly every usable space within her furniture is filled with weapons, armor clothing, and various documents. All that aside, what Marissa has created was a sanctuary and a home. A retreat from the dusty or dank tunnels and caves of her brethren.

It was a clean kill, the wounds would be hard to find to the untrained eye. All the blood was washed clean and if the body was found, she would have been too far gone in the company of her kind. Yes, Marissa was an unusual sort of woman; the kind that could get away with murder.

She watched the body float way in the river, away from her current home nestled in the mountains. Her kind could not afford discovery, not at any cost. Humans would gather in great numbers to hunt down Marissa and the rest of the lycans. Bending down to wash her unique silver dagger in the cold water, she continued to watch her victim sail away. She wondered how long it would be before she shared a similar fate, how long they could keep hiding in the same spot, how long before vampires and their human cohorts eliminated the lycan packs of Europe? They were too few in number and too low in supply of resources for open fighting to occur.

Concealing her dagger again, Marissa set off towards the lycan-held caves to report on her latest find.

Canus walked towards the entrence of Marissa's room knowing that she should be there some time soon. he was a very paitant man known for sitting for days on end for his prey. although Marissa was hardly prey, he simply enjoyed listening to her stories. although she wouldnt always be in the mood to talk leaving him to believe that the mission or her leave did not go according to plan. however this is not always the case.

leaning against the wall next to her door he closed his eyes and opened his ears. the marks on his arms open for anyone to see as he is only wearing a closed vest and comfortable pants with closed toe boots. he had the tips of his boots coated with a form of steel in order to protect his feet just in case he was dissarmed and unable to change for some reason. although many of those who are here are second generation lycans with the ability to change either at will or at least on the full moon. there are still many first generations out there.

Canus for some time hunted the first generation lycans killing them anywhere he could. his lycan blood made it easy for even in his human form he was very strong and skilled with his weapons. although his swords that he carries now are not his hunting swords, he does have a set which are laced with silver so he would easily be killing the lycans with every hit.
he promised the elder of this clan that he wouldnt use them unless absolutly nessisary. so he placed them in a box hidden and attached to the bottom of his bed. only he Marissa and the elder knew of them. he told her out of good faith which she hasnt tainted yet.

Craving the reprieve of her nestled alcove, within the confines of an otherwise dreary complex of caves, Marissa knew that it would not be long before the elder or another ranked Lycan would be on the way to see her for a report. Strolling through the rough-walled tunnels, even having to hunch over at certain sections, she felt sorry for any of her taller kin. Almost to the corridor that held her quarters, she caught a familiar scent on with her superiorly keen nose. Slowing to a silent pace, she edged around the corner to catch the back of Canus' reasonably handsome figure. From the low amount of light from the reflected troughs in the hall, Marissa could catch the glint from his battle axe that was strapped to his back.

Never sure what to really make of the odd Lycan, the female continued her slight descent towards him. At least she could trust him to a point; although they rarely went out on journeys together, most of Marissa's duties had her going off alone. It was not like the elder trusted her enough to engage any vampires yet. Soon, she hoped, with the help of other Lycans like Canus, that she could rise in ranks and feel like she is making real contributions. Daughters of tavern keepers can have dreams too.

Still in her battle garb, Marissa pulled out one of her longer daggers that was sheathed behind her waist. After she brought it in front of her, she pretended to look interested at it, and she tested the tip in her other hand. "I would think that you have more important issues to attend to than blocking my way."

" now now, you should know that i would never intentionally get in your way" he smirked pulling himself away from the wall and casually steping towards her. he made sure not to get in her way yet at the same time, still wanting to strike up a conversation. there wasnt many outsider women Lycans out there and although Canus is quite the military man, he is also down to earth in a sense that he enjoys having a good time with his friends. even though the majority of the people in the clan he would give his life for without a second thought, he had not exactly fit in with the rest. with his almost white blonde hair, he tends to be the butt of many jokes at his expence.

he watched as she checked her dagger with a bit of care. knowing full well that she was a skilled warrior and could potentially kill him if he was to let his guard down. however he did trust her enough to think she wouldnt do that. although he perfered not to wear armor, he respects those who do. Canus has the ability to change rather quickly and into a quite powerful lycan at will. weither it was a full moon or not. although he would prefer not to change if he didnt have too. his beastal form tends to gather alot of attention seeing as it is white like the first lycan Willam the Lycan elder.

the main difference however is that Canus has strange tribal markins on his arms which seam to change golden yellow when he changes to his lycan form. looking at her well cared for clothing and armor he wondered just how long she had it before she joined the clan.

" so how was your mission? " he asked cuirously " i'm not here to collect your report by the way ... i'm just curious as to how everything went. you dont need to talk to me about any details" he always found it interesting to find out how she got her way out of many different situations withough showing her more ... primal side so to speak.

Head still tilted slightly downward at her bladed weapon, Marissa's eyes focused on Canus' in a blink. Marissa could almost see eye-to-eye with Canus, so it was an easy stare that allowed her to study him intently, and through his eyes she saw no threat hidden there that she should worry about; for the moment at least. He moved closer to her and she could feel the heat from his breath play in her hair. His own colorings, hair and skin, were different than any Lycan she had yet to personally come across, but she just thought that that made him special.

As the eight inches of sharpened metal was in control between the warrior's hands, she wondered how fast Canus would heal from a stab would should he ever need the discipline. Another part of her wondered what other uses she might employ such a fine weapon, but knew that it would never be used for preparing foods like she used knives back when she was a mortal women.

The past is past and she needed to focus more on the present. Hearing Canus' question and his quick defense to the question, Marissa realized that he must know that she was not one to be wanting looking after, especially from him. It was not like she would not appreciate an extra set of claws and teeth in battle, but Canus has other concerns to deal with and she did not want herself to be one of them.

Taking a small step towards the male Lycan, Marissa then tapped the flat of her dagger against Canus' chest, "The mission went...well enough, I suppose." Lighting pushing him aside, she walked towards her room, "But there are other problems that have arisen in the last few days." Knowing that those words would be enough to encourage Canus to follow her into her room, Marissa made no rush as she turned to the left wall in her room where there was a table and rack for the storage and maintenance of weapons. Her back to the entry, she began to unsheathe her many blades to replace them in their custom slots and pegs.

a puzzled look came acrossed his face when she spoke. " other problems eh? " he thought to himself. "something tells me i better sit down and have a good talk with her ... she must know something that could be important to the clan ... or at least me" he smirked lightly as he thought to himself. walking into the room then closing the door behind him. he took a quick glance around the room, removing his weapons and sitting in his favorite chair that he usually sits in when he comes to visit.

"so how are you fairing? you did not come across any trouble did you?" he asked concerned for her well being as well as the safty of the clan. although lycans can recover quickly there is always the chance that a silver weapon was used and that slows thier healing considerably.

he leaned back into the comfortable chair placing one arm on the armrest of the chair and the other resting its hand across his lap. he appeared to be at ease to the untrained eye, yet a skilled lycan is always ready for action. which is why even though he only came to visit he brought his weapons with him just incase. granted he was sure she wouldnt attack him, yet you can never be too carful after all.

the main question on his mind however was the other problems she mentioned. Marissa must have found something out while on her mission. perhaps she over heard something the humans had said or even she could have ran into a vampire. he only sat and waited for her to speak of what had happened.

She heard him follow her into the room, and she mentally placed him in his common spot by the sound of his movements. Men, of any race, are predictable, she thought. Marissa was at least pleased that he still has some manners as opposed to most of her kind; save a select few. Quickly finishing her task with the weapons, she was turning to walk to her wardrobe when Canus asked his questions.

Allowing herself to pause a moment, Marissa turned her head towards the seated Lycan and licked her upper teeth in thought. "I am fairing, let us leave it at that." Before she would answer his other question, she continued to walk toward her wardrobe and again had her back to him. Bending down she removed her left boot, "No trouble yet, although there will possibly be some on the way." Removing her other boot, she continued, "If the miserable humans in town ever find the bodies of the hunters," she paused to replace the boots at bottom of her custom furniture, "then it will be too late for them to catch the scant trail I left in my wake."

Standing back up, she attempted to pull at the laces at her spine that held her leather armored blouse on. Pretending to have trouble with the task, as she managed to both tie and untie it herself numerous times before, Marissa let out a soft sigh of frustration. Looking at Canus over her shoulder, which caused some of her reddish brown hair to fall on her face, she asked, "Would you mind helping me out?" Showing a visibly weak smile, Marissa offered the extra incentive, "I will explain further, if you do."

standing up from his usual chair he started to walk over to her. smirking to himself he wondered if she really needed help or if it was some ploy to catch him off guard. either way he figured he should at least take the chance to find out what she knows. " well sence you asked me ever so nicely, how can i refuse such a request" he spoke calmly and clearly as he approached.

gently placing his hand on the laces he slowly and carfully began to untie them. breathing lightly on her back as he tried not to pull the laces tighter then he had to. slowly unlacing the blouse and waiting for her to either start talking or attack him as has happend to him with other women many years ago he kept a clear head. he was here as a friend and his intentions are nothing more then that. although he would admit to himself that she is a beautiful woman and he was attracted to her. yet his cool head and strict training kept his thoughts in check.

she was his ally and friend, he would never do anything to hurt that friendship or bond. at least he wouldnt do anything. there was nothing to say that he wouldnt accept an offer. he is a man afterall and by nature predictible. even he would admit that.

Ah yes, predictable to a fault, she thought as he drew closer. Of course she was just testing him for a number of reasons, and she had to learn how many lycans would rather stand behind her than against when the time came for her ascension into greater power within the pack. Marissa was almost caught off-guard at his peaceful tone accompanied his words, but would continue regardless.

Letting out a deep breath once she could start to feel the laces slacken their bonds, Marissa responded, "Your are a gentlemen among animals Canus." She felt for his hands and gave them a squeeze as she prepared herself to deliver the news, "Human hunters are not the greatest of are worries...I believe Vampires are beginning to operate in our regions."

Marissa let go of his hands to catch her armament and moved to put it on the hanger. She felt some of her warmth trickle down the skin of her abdomen, and wished that the Vampires would not have employed human hunters to do their biddings. Worse yet, Marissa wished that they had not given the humans silver-tipped arrows. At least she got away, killed the hunters and it only served to get her injured. It would also give the Vampires increased reason to stay in the area to search out their immortal cousins.

Abruptly she fell backwards into the larger form of Canus. Lodged in her gut, dangerously close to penetrating her organs, was a silver arrowhead.

"Vampires in our hunting grounds? ... hmmm well that is quite a problem ... is this just a hunch or do you have some proof? " he asked hopeing that she did infact had some proof. it has been a while sense he had to hunt a vampire. he was afraid that if they were not able to strike soon that the vampires would become far to powerful for them to be able to handle.

" human hunters are a crafty sort ... they have all manner of tricks and skills to hunt both lycan and vampire ... if the vampires are here as well then we would quite the interesting situation. " he paused for a moment to think only to catch Marissa as she fell back into his arms.

" Marissa? what are you doing?" he asked shocked the crimson liquid quickly catching his eyes. " damn it woman ... " he muttered as he layed her down on the floor. with his hands he reached and grabbed what was left of the broken shaft of the arrow. pulling it out, making sure to match the angle in pierced her. grabing his cloak he wraped it around her, then quickly but carfully he scooped her up again in his arms.

quickly making his way with her in his arms to the medical area of the caverns, he managed to make it there relativly quickly and placed her on the bed. he litterally grabed the nearest doctor and places him beside the injured woman " Help her NOW!" he growled with an animalistic tone to his voice.

although he left his weapons in Marissa's room, the doctors knew that he was still a warrior. he had been in countless battles yet was never injured enough to need any form of medical attention. he had a strange way of making it out of fights without taking little or no damage. they are not sure if it is because he was extreamly skilled or if it was something else. needless to say the doctor quickly got to work.

Marissa only half heard Canus' replies as her focus was blocking the pain from her allergic reaction to the silver. If she was only able to retrieve the arrow herself, then she could have been nearly healed by the time she arrived back in Lycan territory. Before she temporarily lost consciousness, the female felt comfort in being supported by Canus and knew that he would take care of her.

With the arrow out of her, some more of Marissa's blood was able to seep out from the wound and she would owe Canus a new cloak. Helpless was hardly a word to describe the Lycan most of the time, but now she was forced to rely solely on another. Stirring mentally at the sound of Canus' loud outburst, Marissa focused her energies on not showing any physical sign of her awareness of the situation.

Fighting the urge to twitch at the medically trained Lycan probed his fingers at her injury, Marissa hoped that the process of cleaning it did not take long. She would also need to feed soon in order to speed up the process and help replace the blood she has lost. Time seemed to slow down for her and the doctor did his work. With the hole being cleaned and working towards the mend, Marissa opened her eyes with a start, but closed them again in an instant. As soon as she was able, she would hunt down the Vampires, whatever their number, responsible for causing her so much trouble.

Talking with the medic , Canus glanced over to Marissa as she opened her eyes. breaking up his conversation with the trained lycan, he walked over to his injured friend. " just lay still a while longer. " he spoke calmly there was concern in his voice as well as a hint of anger. he was obviously angry of the fact that she didnt tell him of her injury as well as the fact that it was silver.

Silver was a rarer metal and very few use them as weapons. however he has noticed an increase in the usage of silver with hunters and even some vampires. this concerned him greatly. however at the moment the only thing he was worried about was Marissa and her injuries.

he smiled down at her sitting down on a stool beside her bed. " you should have said something to me ... much longer and you wouldnt be here right now you know. " his voice held obvious concern and his eyes showed worry. " maybe you should include this in your report ... after all i think the higher ups should deffinatly know about the use of silver in this area ... "

She had no intention of going anywhere for a while. Sure, he consciousness would fade out for a while, but the strong lycan would be sure that some lucky humans would be ever to cast her to the side for long. Marissa showed what happens when people cross her, they usually end up dead and their bodies forgotten to all except for the worms and other insects that will slowly eat at their flesh for years. Making out the tone in Canus' voice, she knew that she would be in for a lecture of sorts whenever she decided to come to.

Her idle left arm laid there on the side closest to the worried male lycan and she could feel his presence beside her. Most of the silver she was allergic to had already been removed by the thankfully nimble-handed surgeon so she could begin to let her special genetics begin their function in healing. Marissa let her fingers feel and walk their way closer to Canus and she finally found one of his strong legs. All she could painfully mutter was, "Thirsty," before the pained effort squeezed a tear to wash down her right cheek.

Gently touching her hand with one of his own, he took his other and wiped the tear away from her face. " of course i will be right back " placing her hand on her stomach he turned toward the medic. walking over to him he muttered something to him. the medic simply nodded and went back to his work. leaving the room for a moment he returned rather quickly with a drink in hand.

walking back to her bedside he looked her over for a moment then placed the drink down on a near by table. " i'll prop you up and then you can drink ok? ... it will probably hurt some but you cant exactly drink lying down ... " gently pushing his arm under her he slowly and carefully lifted her up. she wasnt quite in a sitting possition but high enough that she could drink without spilling it all over herself and also so she wouldnt choke.

he handed her the cup and held her firmly yet gently so she would be able to drink without a problem. when she was done he gently layed her back down taking the cup and putting it aside. sitting in a chair next to her he waited for her to say something or to fall asleep.
