Okay, so my friend Evan wrote a really beautiful Poem the other day, and it prompted me to write this. So, here's his poem, and my response. Please only C+C MY work, okay?


Evan
If I knew there was one thing I could say
that when I did, it took your breath away,
I would say it, scream it, shout it today.
You live life searching the world for the key to your heart,
and for what it’s worth, I’ll be your piece of art.
You paint the canvas, I’d love you so.
Standing as one, under the snow.
Then city lights come crashing down
drowning out what hate we found.
I live, laugh, breathe today.
Let me say it, scream it, shout it today.
What life would be if I found you now
to the unknown love: I’ll find you somehow.



My Response
Don’t you know?
You know exactly what to say
You take my breath away
With every word, every day.

Please do say it, scream it, shout it.
I’ve searched all my life for the key to my heart
And I think that you’ve had it right from the start
It’s worth more than you know,
Your metaphorical piece of art.

I’ll paint your canvas,
But keep your love, let it show
And I’ll stand with you
Through rain and through snow.

The city lights will stay up tonight
And love and hate will shine, so bright
We live, laugh, breath for now
You’ll stay in my thoughts,
I’ll love you somehow

What would life be,
if we found one another?
Don’t worry, I’ll just
Love you like a brother.

You don’t have to worry about
Hurting me
Because seeing you happy
Is what matters most, you’ll see.
When you love someone,
Even if they don’t love you
You’d stay by their side,
be theirs if they need you.

So here’s where I’ll be
And here is where I’ll stay
And then, maybe someday
We’ll be happy together.

But I will tell you now:
I’ll never say ‘forever.’
And if you do
I won’t believe you.

Because forever is not for us.
