The Last Man on Earth
It was a normal day like any other when Allos found an ad in the paper. It was for a club that was intrested in science fiction. Allos was a science fiction fan, and this club looked pretty cool. They required a written explanation of why you wanted to join, but Allos knew that that part would be easy. When he went to drop off his application, he discovered that the club was a large, bland looking building. Allos shrugged, dropped of the application, and continued his day as normal.
The next day was when things started getting wierd. He found a letter from the club in his mailbox. He was expecting to have to wait a few days or something, but this was not an unwelcome suprise. With his brand new acceptence letter, he headed to the club. Instead of simply slipping an envolope through the mail box, today he walked through the door. Inside was a short hallway, and another door. When Allos entered the door, he discovered that it was an elevator.
There were 13 floors, and on the back of the elevator, there was a sign that told him what was on each floor. There wasn't anything for new people, so he assumed that the rules booklet he had gotten in the mail and read on the bus on his way here was all the initiation that he was going to get. He hit the botton that would take him to the floor with the story telling room.
The elevator dinged and began humming as it moved upwards. When it reached the floor, the doors slid open smoothly. There was no one in the hallway, but that didn't bother Allos at all. He walked down the hall until he reached the room labelled 'Story Telling'. He opened the door as quietly as he could, then looked inside. The room was completely empty. Everything looked as though it had been set up, but no one had used it. As if it was all brand new. Allos checked next room over. It was the same. He checked all the other rooms on that floor. All of them were empty. He continued and checked every room in the building.
Every one of them was empty. Everyone of them was untouched.
Allos could leave right now, never come back and forget all about this, but something was tugging at him. Who had accepeted him? Where were they? Where was everyone else? He decided that he was going to try to find out what was going on.
