This is our halloween story thread, to hopefully help get creative juices flowing. It's a darker, creepier storyline meant to be somewhat of a 'halloween episode' like T.V shows have.

The Hymn blasted through the darknes of the void, in search of a new planet to colonise. As far as sensors could see, there was nothin. not even stars, just the bacdrop of distant galaxies. literally, there was nothing here except this one mighty battleship. A sleepy bridge officer slumped in his chair, the sensor screen blank, as it had been for hours. he was about to doze off when suddenly, something showed up. as soon as it appeared, it vanished. Intrigued, the young man adjusted his glasses and sat up straight, calling into his comm line "Admiral, we have an anomaly in sector AAABXE379, something showed up on the sensors and then vanished. shall we investigate?"
The Admiral, bored as well was immediately aroused from his day-dreams. "Huh? uhh, yeah, sure, nothing better to do out here." With no more than that, the Hymn flew on to the last cooridantes the sensor man had reported and stopped, sensors going to full active mode. They found nothing. what was found, however, was what appeared to be a space hulk.

Through the Front windows, an Enormous mass of metal slowly floated towards them. The Hymn took corrective manuevers at the suddenness of the appearance, pulling up alongside this ship. Why hadn't sensors picked it up? was the unanimous thought of those on the bridge. Soon a call went out the ship. A call went out for volunteers to board and explore this ... thing.

Marine Captain Kai Nakamura was the first to volunteer himself and a couple of squadmates to go. since he had done that, they got to use these new 'Powered Armors' rather than the standard hazard suit everyone else needed. Kai got ready in the hangar bay to board a shuttle once more volunteers arrived.

As usual, Steven was napping on the wing of his fighter. He woke as he heard noises off to the side. With a grumble, and an indecipherable curse, he sat up to look around.
"Hey Cappy! What's going on? And, uh, what's with the new armor?" Steven called over to Kai as he cleared his eyes. He slid over to the edge of the wing, and dangled his legs in the air like a kid.

"Apparently we found something, and we're gonna go investigate." The captain replied, Sticking his helmet on, the seal hissing. Through the armor's speaker, he asked "Wanna join us?"

"Eh, I have some free time right now. Sure I'll come," Steven said. He pushed himself off of the wing and landed with a thud on the ground. "And hey, it might be interesting to see what its like, being a marine for a day," he joked as he walked over to the little group.

"Cool, we're about to go over, get on a Environment suit, we don't know what it's like in there" The Man mentioined, pointing with an oversized rifle at the rack of suits, then walking towards a boarding shuttle.

"Will do," Steven replied. He started for the rack, and put on one of the suits Kai had talked about. When he finished, he slid on the helmet which sealed shut with another hiss sound. "Hey do I get one of those rifles to?" he asked after adjusting the suit a little.
