Man I love this show. xd Yes, I was even a fan of the original series way back in the 70's. I know. sad.
The new series is everything the original should have been considering the basis for the plot. Dark, serious and often disturbing. Though I grew up watching the old series, it was always a little sweet and sugary for the content. The human race is on the verge of extinction being chased by homicidal robots and we have characters like Boxy and Muffet? rofl puh-lease.
I LOVE that Starbuck is a girl now. I was pissed when I first heard, before the series had started, but after seeing it, I love it. It's about time BSG stopped treating women like barbie dolls. 3nodding Now they're cigarre smoking, drinking, a** kicking warriors. hellz yeah.
Tell me what you think. I know the opinions are divided on this show. Oddly, most of the fans I find hated the original. xd What about you?

Am I the only person that is upset about how they are handleing the new series?
Honestly the original was better IMO, although that "Battlestar 1980" series was HORRIBLE.. Space sometimes airs episodes from it.

Si-Shen Am I the only person that is upset about how they are handleing the new series? Honestly the original was better IMO, although that "Battlestar 1980" series was HORRIBLE.. Space sometimes airs episodes from it. It took a while to grow on me actually. I had visions of the original in my head every time I watched it. I did some serious BSG bashing early on. xd I think part of what finally swayed my opinion was Richard Hatch. He was initially against the new series, very vocally against it actually. LOL But once he saw where the writing was going, he agreed to come on board. There was some symmetry to having Richard Hatch on the show...and he was fabulous. I like that the new series is more of a survival epic than a space-faring adventure show. Also, the characters are flawed, in some cases completely screwed up individuals and I love that. Don't get me wrong. I am and always will be a fan of the original...hell, I have half the damn series on video tapes. xd But I appreciate the new series. Didn't happen instantly, took most of a season in fact, but I've learned to appreciate this one for it's differences and the complete change in direction of story and filming style. 3nodding

I always wanted to see Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer park over the Galactica.. how big is that thing anyway? I know the Star Destroyer comes in at 1.6km long and the super star destroyer is.. well thats arguable.. fans contridict the official size all the time. So anyone got a clue how big Galactica is?

Thanks to Galactica-Wiki - The size of Galactica: Length 4640 feet (1414m) Width 1821 feet (555m) Height 581 feet (177m) Crew - 2,000 to 5,000 Flight Pod Length: 2018 feet (615m) Width: 361 feet (110m) Height: 210 feet (64m)

Length: 1600m (please note, also, ALL Star Wars dimensions, even to person height, is done in metric) Width: Unknown Height: 448m (due to its shape, I assume they are measureing from the greatest distance) Crew: 9235 Officers, 9700 Infantry, 27850 enlisted, 275 Gunners (minimum crew requirements are listed at 5000) Ration wise, it can travel for 6 years on supplies if it leaves port fully stocked. This is its weapon compliment: Dual heavy turbolaser turrets (6) Dual heavy ion cannon turrets (2) Quad heavy turbolasers (2) Triple medium turbolasers (3) Medium turbolasers (2) Taim & Bak XX-9 heavy turbolasers (60)[1] Borstel NK-7 ion cannons (60)[1] Phylon Q7 tractor beam projectors (10)[2] In size, its about the same, but I wonder, concidering its weapons, sheilds, armour and its sheer number of fighter craft, I think the Battlestar would have a few issues. Of course I am pro-Star Wars. Against a Imperial II class ship, the Battlestar Galactica would have to deal with a larger ship, more weapons, better shields, and more craft.

Very true, but you have to figure Battlestars are used to being outgunned and outnumbered by the Cylons and in the Galactica's case, she still comes out on top! Battered and bruised...but on top! xd

I dont think its enough, they might be used to being out gunned but a properly trained Star Destroyer crew can defend itself even when horribly out gunned. Star Destroyers are designed to be the control ship for an entire system. I dont think Galactica would survive a beating from an STD, not after its fighter support was overwhelmed by the trained TIE Pilots. I know robots are supposed to be great and all but they are just robots, they can't adjust like a human.
I actually found info on the Wookiepedia about another newer ship but there are no known facts of definate size about it.

Okay. I'll concede the STD to you. However...The Galactica would SO own the Enterprise. xd

Thats also because the Enterprise relies on shuttles as their closest fighters. Actually if I am not mistaken, the first time that any sort of "fighter" craft EVER appeared in Star Trek, was in one of the Deep Space Nine episodes. I never did understand why they didnt have fighters. The vipers on Battlestar to look cool, always wondered what would happen if they had issues launching though rofl

I seem to recall a fleet of little fighter ships swooping around Jupiter toward the Borg...and promptly being blown to hell. xd
