Hey, here's where we'll talk about all things NaNo! Are you participating? What're you going to write about in 50K words or more in just 30 days? have you done NaNo before, or is this your very first time? Looking for a writing buddy to help you make it through the 30 days of pure madness?

Me? It's my first time. I'm undecided on what I'm going to write, but I'm thinking of going cheap and writing a One Piece fanfiction. That's the only thing in my head at the moment that has a plot that's developed enough to write.

So, who else is participating?

I'm doing two NaNos this year. I missed last year, so this is to make up for it? Nah, this is just because I have too many great ideas!

The first idea is about an insane asylum, and questioning the accepted notions of normal and acceptable behavior. I write mainly from the perspective of the disturbed. The schizophrenic doesn't mean to frighten you, he's just resisting the voices in his head. I also have a boy who believes he's a vampire, even as his body rejects his blood diet.

My second idea started out less serious, involving zombies attacking a dance studio with fairly normal people inside. But even that's starting to develop serious themes such as how permanent is salvation and how much strain interpersonal relationships can handle.

I'm Khelessindarae and Celesi on the NaNo forums.

What are your ideas, Silvery Shadow?

I'm participating this year as well. I found out about this in January, but too little, too late...

My name is ProbableAlice, and I've affiliated myself with Maryland, USA (where I live), and Asia: Japan (because I'm more Japanese oriented with my novels).

I have 5 ideas and the one I'm probably choosing is connected with my name. It's about a girl named Alice who becomes a monster called a Probable to avenge the death of her foster father. She, along with 1 Probable and 2 half-Probables and a little shape shifting Probable named Morph that looks like a ferret (might change), are hired by the most powerful of their kind to hunt down and kill the person responsible for forcing even more of the monsters into the world.

I'm not sure if they allow fanfiction, but your idea sounds good Silvery Shadow. I'd love to see a full One Piece novel in the works.

And I like your ideas too celesi. Especially the first.

I signed up! XD Even though I have my mid-terms in November... sweatdrop
I have two ideas so far, niether of which are amazingly developed.

The first is a semi-ridiculous fantasy adventure featuring a farm girl who wants to become a hero and a flamboyant demon/fairy who acts as her guide. It's not terribly fleshed out, but I'm counting on my innate ability to make things up on the fly. It'd probably be fun to write, but make very little sense and have virtually no plot.

The second option is of a much more serious and psychological nature, albeit still fantasy (can you tell it's my favorite genre? XD). A girl gets into a car crash and goes into a coma for a week. Upon waking up, all she remembers are brief flashes of images and a voice sending her back. Her ability to speak and comprehend the spoken word have been severely compromised by the accident to the point that she might as well be deaf-mute. Yet every now and then, she can still hear and understand the voice that sent her back, and she begins to see the other world in her dreams. There are a lot of questions about sanity and the nature of reality, although I plan to eventually write the other world as being real. I think of this almost as being a more psychological Chronicals of Narnia. It's more in-depth than the first option, but would probably be harder to write.

Being that this is my first NaNoWriMo, I'd appreciate any advice from veterans of the event on what sort of plot (how much structure?) has worked for them in the past. ^_^

I reached my 50,000th word at 11:15 last night, and went to bed with 123 more words than that. A week ago I had been at least 20k behind where I should have been, but in just 3-4 days, I was able to pull it off. I'm already looking forward to next year!

I finished mine this year about halfway through the month. story isn't finished but I hit 50k and it froze and wouldn't let me add any more for some reason. sucked. Yeah mine was a Harry Potter Fanfiction that happens pretty much around the time of the epilogue at the end of the 7th book
