I haven't played this in sooo long, does anyone have any tips for me that they can give?
Other than direct me to gamefaqs. I have a complete walkthrough already. i just wanted some personal experience tips.

Terry...you want serious tips, right, not donkey-style ones?
Okay, from personal experience...try talking with all the kokiri before setting out to find the sword and shield. This means visit the houses too. I would save seeing the shop last, though.
Once you've talked with Saria...go to your left. There should be a Kokiri trying to lift a rock. He will teach you how to lift and throw stones. Now, you may already know how to do this already, but if I remember correctly, he gives you a reward for helping him clear Fado's yard.
After that, see if you can go inside Fado's house.
Oh, and when you receive those bottles, don't forget that there are those soft patches of mud. They look like a dice cube in the ground with the 1 showing. You put a bug that you caught in your bottle into those and keep track of where you placed the bugs already. Kill the golden skull bug that comes out of that hole though to get a token.
Getting the tokens from the skull bugs can earn you great rewards from the Kakariko village. Bigger wallets for example you can get, but you must collect the tokens. I believe there are 100 tokens in total you can find. Good luck in doing so.

The Golden Bugs tip was a good one. Capture a bug in a bottle, look for a soft patch of dirt, then defeat the golden bug after using the sling shot.
Here is another tip similar to that. Once the golden bug has been found in a particular spot...keep track of where so you know what to do next.
Go to the bean man just before you are to head to Zora's domain and buy as many magic beans as you can. You may want to keep track of how many spots you pass before heading to Zora's domain. This way, you know for sure how many beans to buy.
Then, when your character is older, check the spots with the sprouts. There should be a lily pad elevator there now. Hop onto the elevator and ride it to get more special items.
The Game Cube version is easier than the 3DS version, but it will work with both. And if you are lucky enough to have a Nintendo 64, then you can get the original Ocarina of Time and try it.
