just some excerpts, I would recommend reading the rest

Is Tennessee Warmer? Gore says that since he was a child, he has seen the effects of global warming on his family farm. Inconveniently for Gore, however, any changes on his farm could not have been caused by global warming. According to National Climatic Data Center records, Tennessee has cooled by more than a half degree since Gore was born. Indeed, monthly temperature records show the state's warmest 30-year period since 1895 was 1925 to 1954.

Is Global Warming Causing the Snows of Kilimanjaro to Melt? Early in the film, Al Gore shows some powerful photographs of the diminishing snow-pack on Kenya's Mount Kilimanjaro, implying that human-induced warming is the cause. The snows of Kilimanjaro are retreating, but according to studies in the International Journal of Climatology and the Journal of Geophysical Research, the retreat began in the late 19th century — before most human greenhouse gases were emitted. It is largely due to the decline in precipitation (snowfall) on the mountain as a result of the clearing and burning of the rainforests at its base for agriculture. Precipitation is also declining in parts of the Amazon as the rainforests are cleared. Thus, while humans are to blame for the retreat of Kilimanjaro's glaciers, global warming is not.

and about the guy who wrote the article
Quote:
H. Sterling Burnett , Ph.D. is a Senior Fellow for the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA). While Burnett works on a number of issues, he specializes in issues involving environmental policy.

He has held various positions in professional and public policy organizations, including serving as a member of the new Environment and Natural Resources Task Force

have fun chewing this apart

Well, for one thing, Global "Warming" is a poor choice of words, because it gives the impression that we're talking about the planet heating up. We're not. What it means is Global Climate Change with drastic and irreversably harmful effects. A more appropriate but less-used term is "Global Wierding". So (and I really don't know the statistics about Tennessee, and I never trust anything regarding this subject at first glance) even a drop in average temperature could be an effects of Global Warming.

Also, we're not just talking differences in temperature. There could be differences in weather patterns.

That doesn't make much sense. The late 19th century was the point in history when industrialization was going full steam (pun intended). There weren't any restrictions, there weren't any labor rights, there weren't any regulations or anything, it was a great time to be a factory owner! Of course, I really don't know about these factoids, but for example, where do they get that evidence from? It's not like we could get aerial shots of Kilimanjaro in the 1890s.

Ugh. This stuff is silly. It's wierd how people think that An Inconvienent Truth is the highest authority, when Gore isn't even a scientist! But, of course, scientists have been talking about this for years and no one ever listened before. Silly silly.
