Star Trek Fan Thread This is the place to discuss your love of the Star Trek universe, in all it's incarnations. Whether it's the Original series, The Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine, the ill fated Enterprise or the many feature films.
What did you love? What did you hate? Which character do you wish had died a meaningless death? Which character did you cheer when they finally did away with? Were you "lucky" enough to see the short lived Cartoon? Your favorite episode? Least favorite film? We wanna hear it all...and argue it all as only we true Trekkies/Trekkers can! xd

So, my favorite series has to be Next Generation. 3nodding Although Voyager comes in a close second. I haven't decided which I dislike more, Enterprise or Deep Space Nine. It's a toss up. lol Actually, I think I'd like DS9 more if they hadn't killed off Jadzia shortly after her marriage to Worf and replaced her with that wet towel, Ezri. rolleyes That pretty much killed what little respect I had left for it....and I lost most of those respect points while they spent four seasons obsessing over the Dominion. Sheesh. Even TNG let up on the Borg once in a while.
Here's a useless piece of trivia for you: Did you know, That Captain Kirk's middle name, Tiberius, was never actually used in the original series? The first use of his middle name was in the Cartoon! xd Until then, he was just James Kirk. 3nodding ...yes, I saw the cartoon...many, many moons ago. rofl

My fav series was Voyager, my only complaint is that they kinda rushed the ending some, I honestly had hoped, when they announced a movie, just before the sereis had ended, they would have done a 2 hour movie to round off the tv series in a major and epic manor. Since their was no coverage really on the TV series after they got back, I think they really should have done some just to help people feel it really was closed, that the trek was over for the most part. It began on earth, it should have ended on earth.
Edit: DS9 was ok but not all that impressive or good IMO, the only character I really liked was the tailor.. I forgot his name. That and for whatever reason, I liked Cardassians.

And the whole future Janeway coming back to save them thing felt a bit convenient. I wanted something more in depth, not too mention an ending I could cheer for after all those years. sigh. But I love the show...I'm slowly downloading all the seasons for posterity. xd I'm on season 4 at the moment...ran out of discs to burn them off on. lol

TNG was really the last series where there were any NEW areas they never had been before, where as DS9 was really just centred around a few planets they were at on a regular basis. Voyager was all new and I think the whole "we cant just run back home when we are attacked" deal really helped with the series.

It really felt a lot like the original series, where they were really were exploring new frontiers and help wasn't always a call away. The best part is, I missed some of the last 3 seasons, so sometimes it's like having all new episodes! xd

Also how they showed how it was not only a science vessel but also a ship for families and battle.

TNG, I never really cared for the original. DS9 it was OK, not really what I wanted from a Star Trek show though. (Although some of the episodes are rather interesting)
I'm actually enjoying the new Enterprise show, but maybe that's because of Captain Archer being Sam Bekket. (Sp?)

I grew up watching The Next Generation. Even though I was only about 11 or 12 years old, every week after school, I'd rush to my room to watch it before doing my homework. I've seen all but one episode. scream
It's a shame that The Man xd is now trying to destroy the Star Trek cannon. After changing the Klingon history in Enterprise, now they have the nerve to make a movie where Spock's mother is Vulcan. The nerve!
And guess who's been cast to play the part. Winona Ryder! scream

Umm what? are you serious? they are trying to write it up as Spokes mom is vulcan? thats not going to go over well. Are they going to make his dad the human? Which wont work IMO, his father is vulcan, not his mom, its not offensive to keep things as they were. The more they change, the less and less fans will take the new things as cannon. After all, how do you explain his mom as a vulcan when EVERY single previous episode and movie shows a woman.
I didint follow Enterprise, it just seemed rather stupid to me. The borg episodes really pushed me over the edge however, how does that work? When Picard encountered the Borg it was the FIRST time, EVER, according to the story. Its called BAD writers.

crying Yes. According to a news article on Yahoo, Winona Ryder is playing a Vulcan mother. To Spock. I almost had a heart attack.
It was bad enough that Enterprise gave the Klingons ridged foreheads, when Kirk's Klingons were decidely smooth on the noggin. And the Borg? Oh, that completely ruins Q's antics of helping Picard in the guise of being a pain in the backside. (It was Picard's logic, not mine.)
Oh, Gene Roddenberry would roll over in his grave, if he had one.

Oh, Gene Roddenberry would roll over in his grave, if he had one. Im sure he is spewing curses down on them from his little enterpise in the sky. They have ruined so much, its no wonder they want to keep ruining things. If the changes are true, then I will not be watching the latest movie, nor will I buy it.

To be honest, if this movie is made, I bet it'll be the biggest flop in Star Trekdom.
