If you would like to create your own character to exist in this version of the Bleach universe, you need to start small (unless you are creating a member of the 14th squad, but know that only a few will be allowed in as pre-existing members from before their banishment). Every shinigami will have to start out as an academy student, if you are going to be on Soul Society's side, that is, or you will be trained by one of the current members of the 14th squad. In most cases you will start with an unreleased Zanpakuto. Not much training will be required to learn its name, but to move from Shikai to Bankai will require quite extensive training. Remember that the longer it takes to aquire Bankai, the stronger it will be, so take your time and don't rush it like Ichigo. Before you can officially awaken your Bankai you MUST contact a crew member and ask if you have trained enough. We will look at your posts and decide if you can get it as you want it.

Hollows will have to either train under Aizen, the espada, or train alone. Training alone is different, though, because you can only train skills you already have. If you are trained by an espada/arrancar, then of course you can gain new abilities. Hollows can also gain new abilities by eating other hollows, humans, or shinigami. The more people they eat the stronger they can become. If you want to have a hollow character you need to start out as some form of unevolved hollow, preferrably a Gillian or Adjucas. You cannot start out as an Arrancar (natural or turned by Aizen) unless you are one of the pre-existing characters. Just remember, the stronger you are when you become an Arrancar, the stronger you will be AS and Arrancar. That being said, a Vasto Lorde becoming an Arrancar is quite a feat.

Quincies and humans need to train and study their techniques on their own or under the tutelage of someone much older and wiser such as Ishida, Urahara or Yoruichi. Other humans such as Chad or Inoue can help you train, if you can convince them to do so.

More can and probably will be added here, so check up on this often.

Ranking up in your squad:

In order to rank up in your squad, assuming that you have already been given a rank by your captain, you will probably need to train first. After training and someone holds a seat higher than your own, you can challenge that person for their seat. If they don't want to give it up, but you feel confident that you can beat them, MAKE them face you. Otherwise if they accept your challenge then have fun with the fight. If it's clear who has the advantage then that's the winner, otherwise if it's kind of a toss up, the Captain is in charge of your rank and will decide who the winner was. This of course can have a bias. If Kenpachi simply likes Ikkaku more than he likes you, but you held your own against Ikkaku, he might just choose Ikkaku over you because he likes him more. Tough luck, it's going to be that way in real life too, so get used to it. In any case, you can always try again.
