There is a prophecy in the land of Manaan. It says that one day, a stranger will come from the mists & change the land forever. Exactly how the stranger will change the land is up for debate. The same with when the stranger will show up. Centuries have passed since the prophecy was made, & remembered by few people, the royal family included. They prefer to not think of it, as they are worried of the changes that will come if the stranger should ever arrive...
Andreas Kane is broken shell of a man. At 29, his wife has been dead for little over a year. Kane's career has suffered, as well as his personal life. Kane was a stock trader in the stock market, and was quite good at it. Until his wife died, as previously stated. The only thing that still gives Kane some peace & happiness is going to his cabin in the woods of Northern New York, & hiking through the woods. One day, however, Andreas tripped, tumbling down a hill, crashing into a garden that seemed to appear from no-where... And it turns out that the garden belongs to a member of the royal family. A princess. The garden was located a short distance, about a 30 minute horse ride from the castle.
It seems Kane is the stranger foretold in the prophecy. Though he is in no shape to change anything, least of all an entire world.

ProfilesUsername: Name: Age: Gender: Race: Appearance: Bio: Weapons/Abilities: CharactersUsername: Zaydin Name: Andreas Kane Age: 29 Gender: Male Race: Human Appearance: Andreas KaneBio: Kane married his wife when he was 25. She was murdered after being mugged by a street thug. Kane fell apart after that. He went from being one of the most trusted & well respected stock brokers on Wall Street to being a broken shell of a man in less than a year. Weapons/Abilities: N/A Username: Rinel_Underwood Name: Lynett Silverwind Age: 23 Gender: female Race: elf Appearance: Lynett. She stands at 5 foot 4 and has icy blue-gray eyes. She often wears the floor length dresses required of her... but when she can, she wears shorter dresses, or even common clothes. Bio: Lynett is the eldest princess of Manaan. Supposedly, she should be married off right now.... except she is a bit rebellious for a princess and has sabotaged every wedding negotiation set up in the past three years. When she was a child, her body guard taught her to fight, and as she grew up she was always ditching her guards or ladies in waiting to go riding through the country, or she'd sneak into the city in disguise to shop at the market place. She hated having to act like her station required and loved to rebel, living life freely. As she grew older, though, her parents grew stricter. Now, she is practically restricted to palace grounds, and the negotiations for this next marriage hardly involve her, so she can't destroy them. Lynett doesn't want to be married to any of the stuck up princes she knows, but she doesn't have much choice right now. Weapons/Abilities: An ability to calm and understand animals. She also seems to have an innate ability at caring for plants. Note: Lynett's one place where she can be alone is the garden she has practically cultivated from scratch, about half an hours ride from the castle. It is the only place she is allowed to go outside the castle grounds, since it is well guarded and has high walls around it. She loves that place more than any other place in the city and goes there often to escape.Username: Rikku-Liia Name: Tait Conner Age: 21 Gender: Female Race: Unknown Appearance: Tait ConnerBio: Set at the entrance of St. Joseph Orphanage as a baby, Tait never knew her parents, and never knew the luxury of them either. By the time she was 2 months old, she spoke for the first time, and by the time she was two, she was sneaking books from the Caretakers room to read them in a corner of her closet. At 5, she had already learned just about everything from science, language arts, foreign tongues, mathematics, and history from the many resources in the city library. She made sure she didn't stand out in the orphanage however, playing it dimwitted and slow. She didn't want to be taken away to some family of people she didn't know. She was devoted to the thought of her family coming to get her, saying it was a mistake-they've always wanted her-they didn't have enough money, and so on. Usual dreams of an orphaned child. She didn't leave the large orphanage for a long time, since the Caretaker had become ill. She worked, helping as best she could. By 15, she seemed far more intelligent than even a genius would, or a super genius. She was kicked out however when she was 20, and she has lived in a shelter since, attempting to get a job with her fake slow, dimwitted personality. Weapons/Abilities: Her intelligence Username: Hitokiri_Shingetsu Name: Naien Age: 20 Gender: Female Race: Flame Elf Appearance: Nai wears a long, black coat that covers most of her body. She keeps her hair loose at all times, only tying it back when there is a real threat of danger. Bio: Her parents had a considerable debt to pay to the King. They had a choice: pay will your lives, or with your laybor. Since they wanted to do neither they decided to give up their only child instead. Nai grew up in the palace. Learing the ways magic and weapons, she excelled in her studies. But she kept herself and was seen as cold hearted. Because of her distant ways and cool judement, the King appointed her head of the Royal Guard. More specifically, in charge of keeping the eldest princess safe. There is no one the King and Queen trust more. Lately, however, she has proven to be a bit rebelious... Weapons/Abilities: Nai specializes in fire and ice magic. Her main weapons are arrows that she crafts from these elements.

Andreas Kane was hiking through the woods, eyes closed, enjoying the woods "We were so happy here..." Kane whispered to himself, & sighed. It was then that his foot snagged on a root sticking up from the ground, & Kane went tumbling down the hill he had been hiking near. Kane tumbled down the hill, getting cut up by the brush as he fell. Kane also managed to hit several rocks on the way down. Finally, at the bottom, Kane went tumbling into a... fence, crashing through it "Ah, god damn it" Kane said, gritting his teeth "Son of a b***h" he swore, sitting up slowly "I'm going to be sore for weeks" he added "Where the hell did that fence come from?" Kane muttered, glancing back.

Lynett focuses all her attention on the vine in her fingers as she coaxes it back around the trellis it was meant to grow along, smiling as the plant settled into the new position and stayed. Moving onto the next wayward branch, she reaches out for it, then flinches as she suddenly hears a loud crash behind her. Spinning around, Lynett gasps in surprise, eyes wide at the sight across the garden from her. The fencing around the rose garden was broken and shattered in one place and the person to have caused it was sitting amongst one of her newest rose patches, looking incredibly out of place. He seemed to have come out of nowhere and he'd crashed into the fence with a lot of force, considering there was only flat ground behind him. Lynett hesitates, hearing him cursing and muttering and quietly starts to approach him from behind as she continues to study him with interest. He looked like a total mess, with many cuts on him... and he was very oddly dressed. Everything about him seemed odd and out of place. She was instantly intrigued by him. "I think the better question here is where did you come from, good sir?" She asks, stopping behind him as she looks down at him curiously. "Are you seriously hurt anywhere?" She asks him, noticing more injuries now that she was closer to him.

Kane jumped at the girls voice "Sweet Jesus!" he yelled, putting a hand to his heart "You are going to give me a heart-attack!" he said, turning towards the girl. And froze upon seeing her. She was beautiful. And she was an elf "You... your an elf" he whispered "But elves don't exist. They only exist in fiction" Kane said, ignoring the blood trickling down his face from a gash in his forehead "I must be seeing things. It must be a concussion"

Lynett jumped as he yelled, taking a step back in surprise at his sudden and loud outburst. Who was this Jesus fellow the man mentioned? And what was he babbling about? Lynett frowns in confusion and concern as he talks about fiction and concussions and elves not being real. That was preposterous of course. Even the most racist of backwater hicks at least admitted they were real, even if they didn't like her race. Studying the gash in his forehead, she thought he actually might be right about the concussion at least. Lynett crouches down next to him and pulls out her handkerchief, pressing it gently to the gash in his forehead to try and stop the bleeding. "Shhh, just calm down. I don't know how you got here, but we can sort that out in good time." She comments, studying his eyes for a moment. "And I think you may be right about that concussion. Just lay still. I'm sure my body guard will be here soon to see what the noise was." She adds, her sharp ears already able to hear him approaching with a few others. No doubt they probably thought the noise was an intruder or worst. They always overreacted like that.

Kane shivered at her touch "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wish I was back in New York City" Kane whispered. And his eyes promptly rolled by in his head & he passed out. Presumably from the blood-loss

Lynett blinks in surprise at that comment, then stares at him as he passes out, quickly catching his head from falling back onto her rose garden. The last thing she had expected was that. What was New York though? No matter, that wasn't important now. What was important was that he had passed out, probably from blood loss, and he had a concussion. She should probably get him to the hospital wing as soon as possible. Lynett carefully lays his head down, then stands up and waves to the approaching guards. "Over here. Put away your swords." She tells them as they run over, swords and bows in hand. Seeing that the 'intruder' was passed out, though, they nod and put away their weapons. Lynett explains what had happened as far as she knew it, then gets the guards to carry this strange man to the healers wing for her. As they lift him up and start to carry him away, Lynett notices something drop out and picks it up. Turning his wallet over in her hands, she frowns softly, then turns and follows the guards off to the castle.
A good while later, Lynett was sitting in a chair near the bed the man was occupying, looking over the contents of his wallet quietly. The healer had dealt with the majority of his wounds and cuts, and he was just resting now. Lynett had little better to do, so had decided to sit and watch over him. Plus... this leather thing that had fallen off of him was quite interesting. Frowning softly, she pulls out his drivers license and turns it over, reading his name, but understanding little else about it. What was the purpose of this odd card? Lynett sets it aside, then pulls out one of his credit card, looking even more confused as she turns this one over, studying it closely, as if that might reveal its purpose. All of these things made no sense.... could he really be from another world?

Kane groaned, opening his eyes, blinking "Ugh... my head" Kane moaned "I have to stay away from the liquor" he muttered "One hell of a weird dream. Dreaming about an elf" he said to himself. He neglected to turn his head, of course. He hurt too much to move much. Besides, if he saw Lynett right now, he'd probably faint again.

Lynett hesitates as she hears him wake and glances over at him quietly, setting his wallet down quietly. The healer had said that scaring him right now was not a good idea, that he should take it slow and needed to stay calm. Since her appearance seemed to have surprised him last time, she was unsure of drawing his attention back to her. His comment, that she was only a dream, confirmed that maybe she shouldn't make him notice her just yet. Obviously, he needed time to accept what was going on here. Quietly, Lynett reaches up and moves some hair forward, so her long silver locks hid her ears as best they could. With that done, Lynett slips out of her chair, then moves over to the door and quietly asks the guard there to go get some soup from the kitchens. With that done, she silently returns to her seat and sweeping her skirts out in front of her takes a seat, smoothing out the silver fabric as she turns her gaze back to Kane, wondering what he might be thinking right now.

"If you want me to maintain my illusion of my world not being turned upside down, you'd be better off not moving" Kane said, eyes closed again, letting out a groan "My life just gets worse & worse" he muttered "One minute I'm hiking in Upstate New York, the next I'm crashing through the fence to what is supposed to have been the creation of fantasy writers"

"Oh..." She comments quietly as he speaks suddenly. Lynett lowers her gaze to her lap, then frowns softly and glances up at him again. "And why do you keep thinking I am something of fiction? Does this place, New York, really not have my kind there? How is that possible? Where is New York? I've never heard of it. Is it across the ocean?" She asks. She hadn't meant to bombard him with so many questions, but she was unable to help but be curious. She found it impossible to believe that her kind really didn't exist wherever it was that this man had come from. She found many things about this man odd... but then again, he seemed to feel the same way about her... actually no, he just seemed to be in denial and shock. "You know... I'm not really too different from you. If you think about it, we elves just have pointier ears and live longer. Sometimes we have more magic. Is that really so hard to get over?" She asks, completely naive to how he must feel, realizing something impossible was now real.

"I fell down the hill. At the top, I was in New York. Somewhere on the way down, I got here" Kane said "And back on Earth, there is no such thing as magic, elves, dragons, etc" Kane added "No one uses 'real' magic. We have technology & science" Kane glanced at Lynett "You are also beautiful. You neglected to mention that"

Earth... technology.... science.... Science was an unstable and unproven art. It never got the job done easily. How could that be all his people had? Lynett shakes her head, confused, unable to believe what he was saying, then blushes softly at his compliment. "Er, thank you.. but yes, I suppose that is another common trait of my people that your race sometimes lack." She comments. The comment didn't apply to him, of course.... but she wouldn't say that. For a princess to make a comment like that was quite improper. Just then, Lynett notices that the guard had returned. Lynett gets up, walking over, thanking him as she takes the soup from him, then walks back over to Kane. "Would you like some soup?" She asks politely, offering it out to him. "And as for your dilemma... I'm sure one of our mages can find a way back for you. If you got here, there must be a way for you to return." She reasons, smiling.
