While today Jane Austen is most well known for her novels, in her day by her friends and family it was not so much the novels she was famous for, but her short stories-clever and witty stories she used to send to her brothers and friends via letters.
If you evwer have the opportunity I would recommend you get a copy of her juvenillia and read some.
So the competition is for all to write a short story.
we will be getting the judge soon.
The competition will probably run beyond this event so that people have time to write a story
The story itself I think we should leave over to the authors to decide the content.
It must be PG13-no swearing etc.
The word limit is 3000 words, though of course it can be shorter.
Please post/attach link story here. So get those creative hats on- and get writing!

Is it worth allocating a maximum word limit?

500 words? That's nothing!
I'm adapting sections of some literature I'm writing. I know that's cheating, but hey, all's fair in love and war and writing. XD. Depends whether I feel like writing fantasy or romance...or a bit of both.

Perhaps 3000 words? That should be ample for folk without it getting daft.

3000 sounds good. though of course it can be shorter if you wish. I have an idea for a story. YAH!!!!
Oh yeah snickerdoodleprincess is going to be the second judge. I think we should have two judges per competition.

Oh, this should be fun! I'll write all during school tomorrow; there are some classes that don't warrant listening to. Is there a theme that we're supposed to follow, or is it merely to do with Jane Austen? I know you say we decide the content...but should we be more specific?

As long as it is somehow realated to Jane Austen I think it will be fine.

As Dewdew said, as long as it's Austeny or around the Austen period it should be fine, when you start to include spaceships you'll of gone too far razz
