Okay, so I'm pretty sure a good half of the people who play the PC version of Morrowind here must have spotted that swiss knife with a shortsword icon that reads "Construction Set" at least once in their time of playing the game. That would be the editor for said game, which Bethesda has conveniently placed into package with the rest, allowing for players to make their play experience a never-ending one. Don't let past gaming experience fool you though, this particular program is actually one of the easiest editors to use among all of those out there, not to mention one of the best user interfaces and controls I've seen so far for something in 3D. Give it a try, you never know what you could end up with. wink
If you do feel like messing around with these tools left in your hands by the developers, read on! I'll do my best to help out with the problems and finicky things this editor sometimes seems to go bonkers with xp
Let's make this simple :
You're having a problem? Post here and I'll do my best to help. If someone else has encountered the problem before, they can also share their experience with you to help fix whatever's going awry. When a problem is fixed, I'll post about it so others can quickly find a solution biggrin
Also, I'll be putting up tricks and some basic info to keep in mind while working with the Construction Set for a better end result. wink
Otherwise, got a project you'd like to share/show/brag about? Do so here! I can even keep track of it with your posts :3
Renaming, Duplicating and the Asscociated Trouble
Okay, so has anyone ever added a chest to a place they made, put some items in it (that should only appear there), only to realise it's spread all over the game world now? Well, this happened to a lot of people on the Modding forums, so I'm-a tell you all about it so you can save yourself some big problems.
First off : NEVER change a container's content if it's not a new one! When you open up a container in the editor and change it's properties, it'll affect all of the containers throughout the gameworld afterwards! gonk
Rather, open up the container, change it's ID to something you can find easily, then tell the editor you want to create a new object when prompted. That way, you've got a brand new container all for you, and the process can be repeated as many times as needed.
See, where it gets a tad more annoying is that this works for everything in the game. Statics, Activators, Weapons, Armor, NPCs, you name it. xp
Make it a golden rule when making a plug-in to always make duplicates of originals if you intend on modifying something, unless you really DO intend on changing that specific item throughout the game. 3nodding
Zooming, for those who want it smoother or don't have mouse wheels
Aye, some are as unlucky as that. BUT, have no fear, for the keyboad is here! If you hold down the V key on the keyboard and move your mouse, you'll be able to zoom in/out on the currently selected object in the render window. THis method of zooming is also MUCH smoother than regular wheel use, which makes it quite useful for working in detail 3nodding

Araclast : "Farsaro Islands"
My plugin is a few islands filled with a rich comunity the first island is a small one that contains a bar and an inn, well not relly an inn till I can come up with the script to buy a room -.-; the island in front of that island is the commerce area that will sell basicly any thing i can come up with, on that same island there is the manor of the city owners but that area is pretty well empty right now due to the fact it only has a wall and empty land but thats due to change any time now.

Completion wise, the plugins extior is probly about 30% done and the entire plugin itself is only about 5% done so by current standerds i can get this done by the time TES IV Oblivion comes out. of the 90 npc names i have come up with 42 are on the CS and only 30 of those are in the world. I currently need to finish three more houses then the residental area is done wtih a total of 14 houses(or other interor cells). and for those who think this is easy work, most of the houses have around 100 human placed objects those are the small houses too(apart from the manor and the training house which have around 250 referenced objects). I am hoping to get a couple caves, a mine, a tomb, and a daedra shrine with about 12 more exteror cells to make the island quite a fun place.
