Within the dimness of the cave, Shadow had taken the opportunity to remove the cloth from his eyes, allowing himself to get a better look at the egg that housed the baby he would soon have to raise. He didn't really want to, but he knew that it was his responsibility, as that woman would not be able to teach a cat how to hunt. But cats did not come from eggs... and few had wings.
"This is going to be difficult," he murmured, gently nosing the exposed feathers and receiving the slight rustle from the wing in return.

Shadow's ears pricked forward at the sound of voices, but he slowly recognized the second, along with the scent, though it had been so long since he had been in the presence of the winged female.
"Ruby? What are you doing down here?" he asked, turning in the direction of the two voices. There was a bit of light within the cave, a sort of soft, bioluminescent glow. Not enough to pain the hunter's eyes, but enough to show the basis of his form. If he turned his head a bit more towards the glow, one might just be able to see his eyes. IF he turned his head.

Shadow shook his head a bit at the females' antics and looked up at the walls, the glow reflecting in his eyes. The pupils were huge, taking up most of his eyes. A small ring of crystal blue rested between the large black circles and the pale, almost milky whites. With pupils that large, any amount of sunlight would blind him for certain.
"Yes, they do that sometimes," he agreed before returning his gaze to Ruby. This was the first time he actually got to "see" her, in a manner of speaking, though all he could really make out was her general shape.
"You really shouldn't wander about the caves. There are much bigger holes than that one, and Caverns are not the only ones who live here," he added, his tone serious. Apparently Ceinwen didn't approve of his tone (Or perhaps she was just moving in her sleep), for the pastel tail curled up and whapped him across the nose.

"Oh, a lot of things liv-" Shadow began, but was interrupted by the other female's shriek, as well as Ruby's exclamation over his eyes. He'd forgotten, really, that he hadn't been wearing the blindfold. The Woman had told him once that she had never seen eyes like his before, but she thought that made him all the more special to her. But then, she said a lot of things...
The hunter almost sighed, but thought better of it as he slipped one paw beneath the cloth and held it up slightly, somehow making a soft whistle-like sound. Caine and Fla-fa'az, his kochii companions, came fluttering down from above. Seeing the cloth, they each grabbed an end and before you could say "Ishkabibble" the two little creatures had the mask tied back into place over his eyes. Caine chirred a bit as he settled on Shadow's head, while 'az took her place on top of the egg nestled within the circle of Shadow's tail.

the two ftc had both realised their mistake at showing surprize at the caverns eyes. Ruby immediatly felt bad for the way she acted. He proably didn't show his eyes to many ftc at all!

"oh no, please don't put on your blindfold!" ruby protested, "we weren't scared, we were just-"

"amazed at how big your eyes were!" sakura continued, trying to make something up on the spot. "Cause they're really..cool like and lets you see in the dark! that must be really cool!" she wasn't to convincing though

Shadow held up a paw and shook his head, staving off any more protests or reassurances.
"It's fine. I was just airing them out a bit, anyways," he explained and turned towards Ruby's friend. "I don't often use them to see in the dark anymore. I don't like to rely on these two," he added. Caine made a disgruntled sound and tugged at some of the fur atop the cat's head to show his displeasure. 'az, meanwhile, just stuck her little tongue out and went back to cooing at the sleeping Ceinwen!egg.

Shadow could hear Ruby sigh and figured she still felt bad about him putting the blindfold back on. He decided to talk to her about it when they had some time alone, if she wished it. True, their reactions upset him a bit, but he wasn't happy should she be upset over it.
Anyways, he tilted his head at the female's question and looked down at Ceinwen's egg.
"I'll assume you're talking about the egg," he said, moving his tail a bit so that the pair could see it a bit better.
"An orphaned egg that my... caretaker received. I'm tak- watching over it for the time being," he explained before curling his tail back around it. "I'm told her name is to be Ceinwen."

Caine snickered and 'az just giggled and both shook their heads.
"I think it's too big to be a kochii," he said, shaking his head as well. He frowned a bit and ran his tail over the exposed wing. How in the world was he supposed to teach something to fly? He couldn't even see outside of the caves, darnit! His teeth ground against one another slightly in the once more rising frustration of the situation, but he quelled it quickly. He didn't want his inabilities to be taken note of. Ceinwen had been put in his care and he would do his best.

Shadow smiled when she poked his paw, glad she wasn't afraid of his claws. In fact, she seemed fascinated by them.
"They are a hunter's claws. But also good for digging tunnels," he replied and raised his paw again, letting the soft glow around them reflect on the ebony black of his claws.
"I'm... happy you don't seem too repulsed," he said and rubbed beneath one eye with the back of his paw. "You're the first cat from the outside that I've actually seen before. I'm... glad."
