It's flatsale time again, but this time, with a twist! Instead of waiting for people to form a pride, i've created one, and with some interesting aspects i may add. Four cubs and one female adult! Whatever shall she do?? Perhaps she'll find a man, and a few others to join her ranks to help even the work load of keeping these youngsters in line. Who's to say?

Note: there must be atleast 2-3 entries per lion, or the time will be extended. Unless we think that one entry is absolutely the best thing we've ever read. And i'm hard to please =P

Rules:

These pets are RP required. Do not apply without being fully prepared to take on those responsibilities. The specifics can be found in the RP thread, OR on our front page in the main thread.

These cubs and adult are part of a pride. The winners will be able to choose personalities, ect. The profits from the flatsale will go toward creating your subforum where you are required to RP and create pride bonds.

Each cub is not required to be a sibling of the other. For all we know, she just found them wandering around. As such, that's all up to you ^^;

These are RP prompts, myself and the RP manager will evaluate each entry and make our decisions after the contest is over. Flatsale prices are in the main thread. After the announcement, winners have 24 hours to send the trade and a PM of the name they've chosen.

Prompts

For Adult:
Traveling so long, your parched tongue has begun to cling to the top of your mouth. It had been days since you'd seen any traces of water. Wildlife was abundant, but even following them let to no results. Behind you followed four whimpering cubs, tired from the journey, and just as thirsty as you were. Just then, you sniff the impossible. A cool breeze brings with it the promise of water..... What kind of adventure do you get on finding the water? or after? How do you control the cubs? Questions to help spark the creativity.

For Cubs:
What a snot nosed brat. You despised them since they'd entered your little group. All they'd done is whine whine whine about what they didn't have. They were hungry, they were thirsty, they were tired.... it was enough to drive you insane. The others didn't seem quite so bothered with it, which may have added to your fury. After one specific whine of pain issued from them at the back of the ranks, you spin around only to see...

Gaian name: Zactura
Lion Number: 3
Lion Name: Lore
Prompt:
What a snot nosed brat. You despised them since they'd entered your little group. All they'd done is whine whine whine about what they didn't have. They were hungry, they were thirsty, they were tired.... it was enough to drive you insane. The others didn't seem quite so bothered with it, which may have added to your fury. After one specific whine of pain issued from them at the back of the ranks, you spin around only to see...

Lore heard the sharp, grating noise of Kior's screech and whirled around, eyes wide with fear. They had been in the wilderness for a long time, and she was afraid that whatever it was that had Kior might get her next, and her instincts took over...
"Lore! Help!" Kior shrilly screamed. "Kior!" Lore shouted, darting towards her companion in a stroke of uncublike bravery. Their caretaker and pride leader, Surin, had gone to get some food and wouldn't be back in a while. The other cubs were cowering behind boulders, and Lore was out in the open. The chocolate colored cub was thrown across the glade to land with a sickening wet noise on the trunk of a tree, a sight that made Lore want to throw up. He didn't move, and Lore feared the worst for her annoying little companion. Then, something massive and dark filled her vision, forcing her to look up to see the entire scope of the malevolent beast.
It was big. That was the first thought that, oddly enough, entered the little black cub's mind as she looked up. Is this how it ends? As a cub in a glade, killed by this thing? she thought fearfully, preparing for her own death. The thing's sharp gray eyes seemed to slice her apart and sense every weakness, every fault in Lore...she trembled. The massive shape stood up, to rear into the skies on two legs, an angry dark beast tearing at the roof of the sky with its wicked claws. It loomed above her, as if it was uncertain whether it should kill the cub in front of it.
Then, out of nowhere, Lore heard a furious roar that she recognized, though this was not the same. Surin? she thought, bewildered. The fear that this creature inspired in Lore robbed her of movement, of anything but dumbfounded stares. She saw Surin as she had never seen her before, and Lore was shocked. The kind, gentle caretaker that she knew so well had seemingly been transformed into a furious thunderbolt of pure rage, ripping the dark beast’s hide with needlelike claws. The creature tried to shake Surin off, then tried to rip her away wit its cub-sized claws. Still Surin held on, latching her razor teeth into the beast’s thick hide. Fury began to rage in Lore’s heart, and she narrowed her eyes. With a small but angry roar that sounded more like a mew for milk than a battle cry, she pounced onto the beast.
Lore wasn’t prepared for this. The thing wasn’t even tired, and it viciously shook, knocking Lore around like a rag doll. She slammed hard into the beast’s hide, willing herself to hold on, but it all started going dark....

”Lore? Lore, wake up!” a voice said urgently and worriedly, and eventually, Surin’s face swam into the disoriented Lore’s focus. “Mmff...” she grunted in discomfort, looking around at the faces of all the cubs, even...
“Kior!” Lore said happily, looking up at the battered chocolate-furred face. “I thought you were gone!”
”Well, you can’t get rid of me that easily, Lore.” Kior stated, grinning foolishly at Lore. Oh, you don’t know the half of it. Lore thought disdainfully to herself.

wooteh! hello! wow, i love them all!!

Gaian name: Bloodlark
Lion Number: 4 (the darkish looking red male?)
Lion Name: (not necessary to fill out until you win/unless you want to) Ochre
Prompt:
What a snot nosed brat. You despised them since they'd entered your little group. All they'd done is whine whine whine about what they didn't have. They were hungry, they were thirsty, they were tired.... it was enough to drive you insane. The others didn't seem quite so bothered with it, which may have added to your fury. After one specific whine of pain issued from them at the back of the ranks, you spin around only to see...
...one of the cubs standing four-square, whipping her head around, a look of absolute mortified shock on her scrawny little face. What is it now?? Ochre thought to himself as he stumped to the back of the group to check out the commotion. "..pinched me!!" Citrine yelped, and there was, indeed, a tiny red welt on her rump. Ochre looked around accusingly at the others. Ochre had been the only cub in the group until they'd stumbled upon this band of pathetic upholstered rats - he was older by them all by at least three weeks and was fast growing tired of them. The rest of the cubs seemed to look just as shocked as Citrine, the young, creamy yellow lioness. "Well?" Ochre looked around wildly, "who did it??" all the cubs dropped their gazes, looking anywhere but at him. "Oh, this is real mature! We're having enough trouble finding food and water without you lot fool..." Ochre was really about to show them a taste of his true temper when Citrine butted in,
"It wasn't any of them!!" she cried, tears beginning to well at her eyes. "It was him!!" she turned in the direction from which they had just come. What looked like a fully grown lion darted into the undergrowth. A big one. A male. A male with a surprisingly similar coat colour to Ochre's - that of deep, brilliant red ochre..

Suddenly, Ochre forgot his anger, to the cubs obvious relief. He stared hard in the direction in which the big male had bolted. He began running. He kept going, despite Mira, the adult lioness's calls to return. He skidded to a halt at the front of a huge clump of some sort of tangled vine-like plant, just in time to see a brilliant flash of deep red far within the clump, similar to how his coat was shining in the sun, at that moment. Without thinking, he dove in. This is thicker than I thought! Ochre struggled through the thick, rope-like vine, which seemed to go on forever. After what felt like ours, but was probably only seconds, Ochre burst out of the thick, claustrophobic vines and into dazzling midday sunlight.
"..hey!!" Ochre called blindly, whipping his head in all directions.
Just in time for his eyes to adjust, Ochre focused on a dark figure no more than 200 metres in front of him. It was a brilliant lion with a coat of such a deep, rich red, it seemed to glow with the sun. His thick, lustrous mane ruffled in the hot breeze, and his piercing eyes looked back at him. Noting Ochre's recognition, the handsome male sprang off with incredible speed, far too fast for Ochre to follow, let alone catch. Ochre raised one of his front paws, as if readying to pursue, but thought better of it and placed it back on the hot orange dirt. "Father!!" he called desperately, "Fatherrr!!! Come back!!!"

Hehe ^_^ Well, they are lovely.

Just question: Is swearing allowed? And if so, does 'freaking' count? If you'd rather not I can just remove it, no harm done.

Noooote: I didn't remove the minor swearing. But I can edit it out later XD;;

A/N: Okies. I'm actually proud of this entry, for once 8D Just a quick note beforehand, this story was written to be read slowly, with expression. The longer the pauses between, the more well placed they are, the better. As the writer I'd like you to please read this piece aloud so that all the expression and pauses can be taken into effect, because that was how the story was written. Even in a whisper is fine, as long as it's read aloud so that every word is digested and the spacing is done correctly.
My regards,
-rairai

Gaian name: RaiMidori
Lion Number: 4. Red Male
Lion Name: I’m still thinking about it, though in this RP his name is Vincente.
Prompt: What a snot nosed brat.
Response:
It was dusk, though it didn’t look it. The sky was black as ever, as if someone had been smoking a gargantuan cigar pipe for days on end. Above, blotches of clustering cloud could be seen, building and building until each and every one was like the towering fist of a god, poised to destroy. He shook his head furiously, not wanting to think about any of it, the clouds, the storm coming, the never-ending stairway of spiraling ‘tobacco smoke’-

“H-hey,” a small voice squealed from the back. Whipping his head around, his eyes settled on a particularly scrawny-looking orphan cub pawing at the ground gingerly, flaxen eyes drawn to his blazing coat of fur. Vincente only shook his head bitterly and turned back with more ferocity, a spring in his step, his will screaming at him to continue on farther than the bother could possibly reach.

“Hey.” the nuisance repeated a little louder, tail thumping playfully at the ground. In the sky, the storm had already begun to broil in its place among the clouds, traces of jumpy thunder bolts waltzing between the layers of cotton. Vincente snorted.

He hated the rain.

Wheeling around for the second time, he eyed the cub furiously with a glittering eye, a threat in his every bunched muscle.

You’ve been lagging behind us for days and you’re the reason that we don’t even have enough food to eat, don’t have the time to get where we need to, don’t even have shelter for the freaking rain. So if you’d kindly shut up, maybe we won’t have to throw you out, runt.” he snarled, baring his teeth and puffing up his chest.

The cub shrunk back in terror, covering her face with her hands.

“I-I’m sorry, I just…” she squeaked, peeking one eye through her paws. Stumbling back a few paces, she avoided Vincente’s gaze while starting again, in a smaller, steadier voice, her tail quieted and resting lifelessly on the ground.

“I just wanted to ask you a question.”

The red lion’s straight spine relaxed a bit, though as he turned around his gruff voice was still laced with poison, his claws still digging into the ground in a desperate attempt to channel his stress elsewhere.

“Ask.” he commanded, not turning around to see her wince, still afraid of the things he could do.

The female sighed, tripping back in army-like gait with the rest of them. As the sharp rocks dug into her fur, her voice shook from the turbulence.

“I mean, that’s your mom, right? Your real mom.”

“Yeah, what about it?”

“I just… if that’s your mom, where’s your dad?” she explored inquisitively, looking about as if he would be hidden in the treetops. She sneezed, losing interest.

Vincente stiffened.

“Where’s yours?” he barked, glaring at her, anger coursing through his blood like wildfire.

All of a sudden, from behind him, a silence ensued. Even his mother laid a weary eye on him, her stern face saying more than words could. Vincente looked down, the intemperate fire calmed. I’m sorry, he wanted to say. But he didn’t.

Silence wasn’t wanted, he thought. Silence and things like that, things that didn’t exist, things that would disappear, eventually. Things he couldn’t touch, couldn’t have.

But sometimes all it took was something untouchable to change everything.

As the tears rolled down her face, he turned to her, unsure of what to say. Instead, he walked up to the shivering cub and laid down on his chest, eyes peering curiously up at her bereaved face. Shuffling forward so that their paws touched, he laid his eyes on the void of sky above, wondering if he was finally, finally, finally doing the right thing.

The thunder roared.

And as the cub raised her terrified eyes to peer into his, he finally knew what was right. Taking her by the paw, he led her closer, one protective arm resting on her shoulder bone. And as the gods screamed and yelled and attacked up above, he was sure that she knew she was safe, though things were far from okay. Things would never be okay.

But that was alright, wasn’t it?

As the rain started, a crescendo, a prelude to disaster or greater things, he was the only one speaking.

“My father left us, a long time ago. I don’t think he’ll be back, and I… I’m sorry I yelled at you earlier. I was just annoyed, because you seemed to be causing us so much trouble, and that’s just the way I am. Violent. Wrong. Uncontrollable. I didn’t mean it- rather, I did, actually, at the time. But I’m sorry anyway. I used to love my dad. I don’t anymore. So in a way, you should be happy, because you still love your dad, and he still loves you, wherever he is. For me –for us- there’s nothing left. Nothing.” he whispered. And as his words fell into the silence like dying monarchs, the small, unknowing child looked into the sky and saw dusk, beyond the clouds, beyond the darkness, beyond the stars, even.

Because beyond the rain, there was light.

Okay, so, I'm not sure how much I like this. This is supposed to make it seem like Kanda is very strained-he's stressed, and a bit desperate, and this complainer isn't helping any. XD I may do a bit of re-writing later.

Gaian name: Teh ABSTRACT (Call me Abstract or Abby. As you guys know. ^_^)
Lion Number: 5
Lion Name: Kanda
Prompt: What a snot nosed brat. You despised them since they'd entered your little group. All they'd done is whine whine whine about what they didn't have. They were hungry, they were thirsty, they were tired.... it was enough to drive you insane. The others didn't seem quite so bothered with it, which may have added to your fury. After one specific whine of pain issued from them at the back of the ranks, you spin around only to see...

....that he's at it again. "Ah! Ow! Ow! Ow! I stepped on a sticker! It hurts SOOOOO bad!" He whined melodramatically, falling back on his haunches and holding said paw out, the other covering his face to add to the drama. "Oh, oh! Ow!" That tears it!

"Listen, you whiny little brat!" Kanda barked, turning swiftly into his path. The others instinctively stood behind him, unsure whether the leader of the cubs was to be sided with or not. He was certainly larger than the rest of them-not just in size, but in presence. Kanda was, as always, a fiery-souled lion, with a short temper and a high sense of justice. He was easily irritated by petty things, and was a protector and leader to his brethren-as cubs would in litters, they'd ranked themselves with him at the front. He often wore a frown-but who wouldn't in this barren wasteland of a dead valley? "I'm so /sick/ of hearing you complain!"

His anger-filled shouts filled the empty crater. This land had once been of life-with the same trees and creeks and green grass and flowers and birds as any other valley. But it'd died-the grass was gone, giving way to harsh weeds; the birds were gone (except for the buzzards, of course); the trees were shriveled and dead. It was a lifeless plain-but they had to get through it. He and his surrogate brothers-and unfortunately that little whiner-had to journey through it. But it wasn't going so smoothly, since there was moaning and groaning coming constantly from the back of their tiny pride.

The cub had stopped his act, and now stared at Kanda in surprise and fear. The clay-brown young male had lost his temper, and gave him the most superior, irritated glare he'd ever recieved as he continued to yell. "Suck it up, you little brat. We're living in a dead valley! There's no water, no food, and a lot of stickers! We have to keep going until we get to the greenland again, and I swear to Zahina if I hear another word out of you, I'll knock you so hard you can't remember what you were whining about!" The rest were in an awkward hush, and tailed after the proud-standing lion cub as he continued to trot on, footsteps heavy with annoyance.

But he wasn't going to stop there. What right had Kanda to yell at him like that? "Oh...I feel too weak...I can't go on...." He gave a rather redundant show before collapsing into the stale dirt chest-first, rolling onto his back and covering his face with his paws. "...too tired...too hungry...can't...move..."

"Then we'll leave you behind!" Kanda shouted over his shoulder, ears back and tail lashing. "If you can't make it, then you stay here. You'll be buzzard food in a day. So what do you want to do!? Keep whining, or keep going!?"

"...Ah..I...." The cub quickly scrambled to his feet, defeated. "I feel better now..."

"/That's what I thought/." Kanda hissed, turning sharply back to the front. He couldn't stand the way that cub whined so much-after all, he'd been born, abandoned, and lived the majority of his life in this dead valley, and he'd never complained. He was denied all the luxuries of life-he was denied the very basis of life-and he never whined once. He just took what he had and did the best he could with it. So what right had this spoiled little snot-nose to sit and complain over nothing? "Feh." He growled, picking up his trot. It didn't matter how much that cub whined-if they didn't find shelter before nightfall, they'd be a midnight snack for the raptors*...

{{I think I want to change that a little bit...not sure, though....

*Birds of prey. Not dinosaurs XD}}

Clearly I have an impulse problem. ._.

Gaian name: Adona Benedicta
Lion Number: 2 (Yellow female! 8D)
Lion Name: Akalka (Sanskrit for 'Moonlight')
Prompt: What a snot nosed brat. You despised them since they'd entered your little group. All they'd done is whine whine whine about what they didn't have. They were hungry, they were thirsty, they were tired.... it was enough to drive you insane. The others didn't seem quite so bothered with it, which may have added to your fury. After one specific whine of pain issued from them at the back of the ranks, you spin around only to see...

Akalka took after her mother's infinite patience. Being the youngest of the litter, she was proud to have inherited that. Even if she'd gotten nothing else from her mother, she'd gotten that. With her bright pelt, she stuck out, but that was okay too. She was part of a small pride, her family's pride. She was practically royalty, with a mature head about her. But that little whelp... Ever the infinitely patient, she thought maybe her sister or one of her brothers would snap on the cub. But they hadn't.

That'd been three days and nights ago.

Now the stupid cub was whining again. Akalka tried her damnedest to ignore it, catching up to her mother and following after her quietly. She'd grown quite good with ignoring the pangs of hunger stabbing at her stomach for the most part, but this stupid little cub...

Suddenly, a whine of pain drifted to her ears sharply. She spun around, thinking maybe it was one of her brothers who'd been trailing with the whining cub. But no, it was her again. Scowling, Akalka turned and walked back to the cub. She butted her head against the whining brat's hard, and glowered at her.

"Look. All you have done is whine and cause trouble." She hissed, quiet so her siblings didn't hear her. But they had stopped, which prompted her mother to stop, and everyone was watching her. Akalka didn't seem to notice, too into chewing the other cub out. She was tired of this! "You are not the only one who is hungry or thirsty of tired of walking." Akalka glared at her. "We keep moving for a reason, and if you do not like it, find another pride to follow and whimper after!"

She turned on her paws, and froze when she saw her family looking at her disdainfully. Her jaw clenched, and she stuck her nose up, walking back towards the front quietly. Her mother glared down at her, then lifted her head slowly to the outsider cub who was close to tears. Akalka glanced back, and grimaced, looking down. "It's true." She mumbled quietly. "We're all hungry and thirsty! But you don't hear us--"

"Akalka."

The cub winced, and sighed quietly, her tail dropping. She turned, and walked back to the cub quietly. She plopped down in front of her, sitting on her haunches, and looked at the cub pointedly. "I'm sorry." She said quietly. "But you gotta stop whining all the time, okay?"

The cub sniffled, and nodded quietly, then held out her paw. Akalka blanched at the bit of bone stuck in the cub's paw, and winced. As carefully as she could, Akalka took the bone out, spat it to the side, and bolted to catch up with her mother. Shame dotted her eyes, but she apologized. And she even helped!

They didn't hear another whine from the cub that day. Of course, the next morning... Well. Rome wasn't built in a day, was it?

Startled eyes widened at the sight of the angry tribal marked cub, who's tail lashed and teeth were slightly bared. He was obviously annoyed, and had been getting progressively more and more angry as time passed and every muttered whine the smaller cub had ennounciated. They started to fall behind as their 'mother' continued to traipse on through the harsh conditions she had brought them to. The larger cub continued to look down on the whiney cub, his tribal markings looking a little wider as near all his fur bristled at the younger's impertinance. His darker face point was drawn into a small snarl as he glared down at the other, who had taken to crouching low, scared and a little worried at what was about to happen.

"You are beginning to vex me, 'brother'." His eyes narrowed as he spoke, words no more then an angered whisper as he stood over the small beast below him. "You believe yourself to be the only one who is tired, hungry, thirsty, plain bored? I bore of you, little 'brother'! The last word was said with such vehemence, the younger cub cowered from the intencity of it. He whimpered a little, but all he got was a cuff from the tribal male for his efforts. Their 'mother' and other siblings were far away from them now, continuing their slow progress further into this rugged terrain. The tribal cub chanced a glance back, eyes dark with distaste for this place. Why did she insist on taking them into such a barren landscape? Did she feel it necessary to march them on and on till all sense of direction was lost? He made an audiable snarl and turned his attention back the the whiner.

"Now shut up and pay attention! If you so much as utter another peep that your feet hurt, your mouth is dry, your belly is rumbling, I swear to the almighty Gods above leading us into this hell hole that I will sate my hunger on you! Lion or no, I tire of your repeatitiveness, and I would take great pleasure in eating you alive! You got that little 'brother'? The slightly older tribal cub tilted his head as the litte cub muttered a whining agreement and stood, head high and proud. "Good, we have an accord. Now, get moving. Everyone's paws hurt, you are no exception to the rule and you will keep moving!" He circled the little cub and once behind him, turned quickly and sank sharp little claws into his advisary's behind, making him squeal and scoot forward at a tremendous speed, damn near running to catch up to his 'mother' and stay as close to her as possible.

The little cub could tell his older 'brother' was not lying. He had noted it from the first moment they met that this cub was not one to take fools lightly. Whatever pride he had been born to, they were not ones to take nonsense from anyone, and despite only being young when he had been found by this lioness, those lessons had already been learnt. Those eyes, dark with intent and permenant anger, were ones he would have to watch out for. That tribal cub would grow to either be a great leader, or a disaster in the makings.
