I was actually invited to join over a week ago, but I'm very slow about posting. I don't give out my name online. Not for privacy reasons; it's just a silly name. Aya is the only decent nickname anyone has managed to squeeze out of it. Eventually, I'm going to change it to Mathilda. Then, I'll change my user name to Mya Xu. No, not really. I'm female, by the way. My hobbies are reading, writing, and playing video games, just like everyone else.
I've been playing the Sims since sometime after Livin' Large came out. As I have no memory, I don't remember when that actually was. I just remember buying The Sims and LL at the same time in separate, normal sized boxes when LL was the only expansion pack out. I've bought all the expansion packs for both games, and the stuff packs for the Sims 2. I don't have the newest stuff pack quite yet, though, and lately I wait for my favorite mods to be updated before I buy expansion packs.
I play because I like controlling my own little worlds, and I like to make up stories to go with my worlds. Since Pinstar created the Legacy Challenge, I've been playing a sort of modified version of it. That is, I don't want to play without my mods. I don't use any cheats on my main legacy family, and I only use them sparingly on the rest of the neighborhood. I also use a few extra rules for various families.
Some of the mods I use make my sims a little smarter about what they choose to do. I used to micro-manage everything, but this allows me to let them run their own lives a bit more. It makes the game a bit more random. My sims are matched with TwoJeff's crystal ball, and I let ACR choose their gender preferences and when they try for baby. Other mods allow things I would want allowed in my own world. For example, any couple of adults, or couple containing an elder and an adult, can have children. Also, any adult can be impregnated by aliens after being abducted. I'm a cruel god that way. Even worse, my sims can have triplets and quadruplets. I also have a lot of mods from MATY that simply fix annoyances.
I don't play quite as much as I would like to, but I make up for it by downloading too much custom content over my dial-up connection and spending too much time on Sims 2 sites. I also made a family tree containing every sim from the thirteen core households of my main neighborhood, and I've uploaded some of their pictures to Flickr. The family tree is updated, except perhaps for a few recent deaths. Some of the genders are incorrect because TribalPages only allows male/female pairings. The pictures haven't been updated since last October.
My computer does not meet all the minimum requirements. It takes thirty minutes to go from starting the game to actually being inside a lot. My walls have been flashing red since Open for Business. With all my expansion packs, stuff packs, and CC, I'm amazed it works at all, so I'm not going to complain much. I hope to have a decent computer and cable internet within a few months. Any budget gaming hardware suggestions will be appreciated.
Well, there's my posting limit for the year.
