Blaze looked down at his son, Caelan who had just fallen asleep for a nap. They had been traveling throught the woods most of the morning so Caelan would be asleep for awhile. Under the protection of a large tree Blaze left Caelan asleep so he could go hunting.

 Nereus padded into the forest, head held high. There was something there, he was almost certain he had heard something-
Ah.
A rina was just sleeping there, unprotected??! Nereus shook his head, stationing himself next to the sleeping male. Above the trees shuffled in the wind, a nice breeze settling in his fur. Studying the rina, he smiled, realizing how much he reminded him of Ona, a small rina that he had taken care of not long ago.

Caelan was dreaming of playing with his sister when a cool breeze hit is back and woke him from his dream. He slowly opened his eyes. Where was he he thought to himself. Then he remembered, Dad and him where going on a trip through the forest. He looked around with blured vision that had not adjusted to the forest's dim light. "Dad?" he asked the Tae next to him.

Nereus reeled back, surprised. Had the rina just called him.. dad...?!? He shook his head rapidly, swallowing down the stutters that would probably resurface the second he opened his mouth. Huh.
"I'm not your, dad, uh..." he paused, a confused expression on his face, realizing that he didn't know the name of the rina.
Not that it mattered. He very well might have bigger problems, and soon. Soon.

Caelan perked his ear at the sound of a strange male voice. He pushing himself into a sitting position and tried to get a better look. "Where is Dad? Who are you?" he asked curiously. "My name is Caelan!" he said proudly. He was proud that he knew his name and was happy to meet a new Tae for he had meet very many adults before.

Nereus swallowed, not knowing how to answer, still surprised at how fast the rina woke. Had the father abandoned the child? If so, he would have to take care of...
No, wait. He shouldn't give such bad news to the kid, what if they start crying...?
He looked away for a moment, then looked back, chartreuse fur glinting in the sunlight.
"I don't know where your dad is, but I'm Nereus. I just came here to explore, you know, find some things. It's nice to meet you, though, Caelan." he stated casually, flicking his tail about behind him.

"Hi Nereus." he said as he looked around. "Maybe I go look for Dad?" He got up to his feet, Caelan was a little wobblely but managed to stay on his feet. Seeing Nereus by himself with no company he asked, "Will Nereus come too, maybe find what you look for?" With that said Caelan stepped from under the tree he was under and heading off deeper into the woods. The shadows and light making his redish fur look like it was on fire.

Nereus grinned, finding the child very endearing. Lifting a paw tentatively, he watched the blazing fur move away from the tree, the small baby steps the rina took. That couldn't be safe, him looking for his dad alone?!? This was such a dangerous family, he mused to himself.
"I'll definitely come. You should be more careful when you're alone." he advised, winking at the rina, padding along after him.

"So what Nereus looking for?" he asked carefully watching where he stepped. "Dad said that soon I would be a big boy! So I need to learn stuff so Dad took me for a trip in woods." He smiled. "Dad where are you?" he called. Just then Caelan tripped over some rocks and fell down flat.

Nereus laughed sweetly, a twinkle in his eye.
"What am I looking for? Whatever you're looking for, Caelan. I have to make sure you get back to your dad safe." he winked, breathy voice full of energy. Listening intently to the small, excited sound of the boy rambling off about hunting, Nereus held in another laugh.
He used to be just like that.
But before he could open his mouth to reply, Caelan had already fallen, the rocks he tripped over resting innocently on the ground.
Nereus frowned, padding forward to him. Leaning down, he locked eyes with the teen, urgency flowing from his.
"Are you alright?"

"I guess" he said with a little bit of a whimper. He looked up and tried to put on a brave face. Slowly he got back up make sure to get some good footing. "Where is your Dad?" Caelan asked innocently for he was not aware that when he was older he would be going separate ways with his father.

Nereus frowned worriedly as the boy nearly fell again when attempting to get up. Holding out a paw to steady him, he quirked a smirk at his face, so fierce and full of determination.
That was always a good quality to have.
At the question Nereus frowned, pondering.
"I think he's somewhere in the mountains with my mother right now, though I'm not quite sure. I haven't seen him in a while. He would either be in the mountains or perhaps... the rivers in the east? That's also where he wanted to go."
Nereus shrugged helplessly, laughing secretly at his parents' obsession for travel. He rather preferred to stay in one place and just think.

Caelan smiled at Nereus thankful for the help. "Why didn't you go with him? I didn't want to leave Dad's side so that is why he took me with him." He sighed, "How far did Dad go?'' He continued forward looking for his Dad, for he would never give up his search. His Dad had taught him better then that.

Nereus's eyes crinkled into a smile at his steps, all of a sudden he was already back on his feet and moving. What a courageous child, he marvelled. Padding up silently behind him, his tail drew shapes in the air, a small habit of his.
"Because that's not the kind of life I wanted to live, that's all," he explained, playfully pouncing on a rock.
"I just wanted to be myself and live on my own, and he respected that. That doesn't mean I love him any less. I love them both very much."

"Well Dad is in trouble when I find him!" Caelan said with a frown on his face. He sat down. "I am hungry." Just then there was rustling in some bush in front of them.
