Sorry to bother you all, since I am not a member, but I was wondering if someone could help. My husband is currently reading Our Troth, and is curious about how to pronunciate Tyr's name. We're guessing something it's either like "tire" or "tear", but would rather not just guess (especially if we are not even close). In general are there certain guides to pronunciation that he should be aware of (like where other letters sound like something else)?

think of the y as an EE sound..
Tyr, phonetically, sounds almost like it rhymes with peer.

Along the same lines...I'm having trouble figuring out the correct pronunciation of "Freyr." Can anyone help me with that one? sweatdrop

freyr is pronouced as spelled, however, ey is phonetically like the a in age.
none of the letters are silent
(I should make audio files for these)
