And none of you better come in and say "OMG ENGLISH DUBS SUCK LOLOL JAPANESE VOICES 4 EVA! ENGLISH DUBS CAN SUCK MY ____" I'll let you fill in the blank for yourself 3nodding

And if you do come in saying that, I will retort with an uber long argument saying that we're actually the bad guy in this and we're the ones screwing them over 3nodding

But yeah, I was actually surprised that the dub has been going well. This might actually be the first time I actually approved of Johnny Yong Bosch voicing a character. And no, english dubs are NOT suppose to copy the Japanese counterparts, but reflect on the character themselves. And really, he hits the nail on Lulu's voice I think. Yuri Lowenthal does a fabulous job on Suzaku's voice, much better than I imagined would happen. Kate Higgens as CC has potential, that much is for sure with her limited voices in this episode. But as a voice actor and seeing her past roles, CC is actually a good role for her to play. Spunky and strong willed. Seems like people she does doesn't it? Karen also had a good voice actor, and I was surprised after looking around that she also is dubbing Miyuki from Lucky Star, possibly using her soft voice to do the two. She also does Momo and Soifong from Bleach if anyone is interesting x3

Now for the side characters, Shirley, Rivalz, and the president (can't remember her name x.X) also had good voice actors. I'm not complaining one bit for this series. This is probably Bosch's best first episode in a while, and that much is for sure 3nodding
Well, at least he doesn't have that whisp as much x.X

I believe the president's name was Milly.

I was suprised myself.

I have nothing against dubs, but I expected Johnny's voice to be something I had to get used to. But I didn't! It actually wasn't until the end of the first episode that I realized: Wow, Lelouch's voice didn't bother me at all!

I love Clovis' voice~ xD; Too bad he dies so early on...

I know right?

Bosch's voice usually takes a couple of episodes for him to actually get into character *coughBleachHaruhicough* I believe this was one of his few roles where his character actually worked out the first time around. I was actually very surprised to hear he could have another tone of voice other than his normal one he uses in every other single dub @_@

Sam Riegel is probably one of my favorite male voice actors, I just love his "just an everyday guy with a certain flare" in it. Couldn't you just imagine his voice at like, him working at a supermarket or something? Then again, I'm thinking of him as Silabus from .hack//GU >.<

I thought that Kallen's voice was okay. It fitted her tsundere-ish personality. As for Suzaku, it was short-lived (since he didn't have that many lines stare ). I'm just a bit confused on how to pronounce Rivalz. Is it "RAI-vals" or "RIH-vals"? confused
I was very happy to have been able to remember the day it came out. I would've forgotten if I hadn't read the TV guide out of boredom. sweatdrop

I like Lulu's voice more in the dub.

gonk Thank you for this thread. I'm tired of people B'AAAWWWing about how badly the dubs suck, because they don't.

I can't say that the English dub sucks and that the Japanese will triumph becuase I've only watched the English dub. And I love it. I may have a bias here, but seriously, the voices (or most of them) don't annoy the crap out of me. Which is good. :3 I should watch the original one day though.

I like the dub.
Lelouch voice actor is good.

Though character who had a horrible dub was Nunnally . Geez her voice was just annoying D: .

I approved of all of the English dub choices except for one:

Nunnally.

They could not have picked a more horrid voice for a charming little girl. Her voice made me cringe and she totally killed the moment at the last episode.

I liked the voices.
Actually, to decide how I was going to get through it, I watched the first and second subbed Japanese episodes, then the first and second dub episodes. And I chose the dubs.

I thought the Japanese dub for Lulu was much too deep for someone his age.... This one completely worked for him. Nice job, Johnny.
(Though as someone too lazy to speed up on the Bleach anime and who settles for dubs, he sounds like Ichigo too much in certain parts.)

Nunnally made me cringe. Though I think the actress did a decent job on the last episode.

I loved the dubs, and if you think about it, the japanese language in the show made no sense whatsoever. think about it. THEY ARE BRITANNIANS for Gods sake! If the brittanians hated the 11s so much, why bother to speak their language? I think the dubs made the show more sensable. The dubs made the plot come to life. But that's just my opinion.

My theory is that after Britannia took over, they made everyone speak whatever language they have. The only reason it's in Japanese is for people to understand it. Face it, even if it would be correct to have Britannia speak Britannian the series would have bombing because no know would know what was going on.

I actually like the dub voices better than the Japanese ones, especially Lelouch's.

Well, except for Nunnally's. I agree with what everyone else has posted already; I've always found her voice incredibly annoying.

I really felt like kicking Nunnally in the mouth, just to see if breaking some teeth make her sound better. Also I didn't like V.V. his sounded a bit off to me.
