Well, I already own six guitars. (1 Acoustic/Electric, 2 Classical, and 3 Electrics) So I figure it's time I learn how to play one of the less stringy counterparts to my twangy collection. I've always been a fan of the Firebird body style on six strings, and was looking into a Thunderbird. They are reasonably priced at around $300, and they are an Epiphone product. (Which unlike most people, is a company that I trust)
or the Hofner "Beatle Bass" reissue
Obviously I'm looking for something with a different look to it then your standard J-Bass. I also like the fact that the Hofner is only a 30 inch scale being that I'm so used to my short little electric guitars, and even my G-400 Deluxe feels long and awkward in my hands when playing high on the neck.
So comfort and style are things that I want, but can be sacrificed if a really good deal comes along.
So which would you suggest for somebody that has plenty of experience playing a guitar, but not much on the bass, and which do you think is a better buy.
I'm open to other suggestions also. I'm not going to have the spare cash to shell out on this thing right away anyways, so any help or advice you can give is appreciated.
