We go to school to get educated so we can do as little work as possible for the most money. Those who quit school early get paid less & do more work for it. &need to work more hours because of the low pay.
But it's because of that that I've chosen to study Theatre. To me, it isn't work. It's stressful, but in a positive way to me.
Find something you enjoy doing. Make it into a career. My boyfriend is a hardcore gamer, always playing games. He's gone into comp sci 'cause he figures it'll help him get into game design. His new dream is to become a professional game critic, because he can be unbiased about genres unlike many other critics. ["I hate racing games, but I'm reviewing mario kart anyway. Ya, it sux"] So he's going to start making reviews of games and hopes he'll be noticed someday.

Exactly. Go into something you enjoy, that way it doesn't feel as much like "work".
I'm highly doubtful I'll get rich off my Theatre career, but at least I'll be enjoying myself. I've decided that as long as I have a roof over my head, food in my tummy, and friends to spend time with, all is well. I don't care if I live paycheck to paycheck *shrug* I'm not the kind of person who can enjoy a life of leisure, so I really don't care if I work for the majority of my life.

I personally was very intrigued by the human body and everything about it as well as human psychology. I took Anatomy and Physiology Honors and AP Psych in high school, but then I realized I just like learning about it, not putting it to use. I'm good at reading people's thoughts and motives and stuff thanks to psych, and I'm generally just all around good at understanding people, being able to see every possible side of a situation, stuff like that, but I'm not going to go to school for at least four years so I can listen to people's problems and rip them off by making them pay me assloads of money for telling them something in a timespan of about half an hour to an hour when I could have easily done the same for them free of charge. I'm also very squeamish, so going into the anatomy field, not such a good idea. During that time, I started analyzing absolutely everything I could, and it eventually bled into analyzing music. I learned to pick up the differences in different sound file formats, bit rates, I analyze the patterns, rhythms, beats, tempos, timbres, everything about everything I hear now, so I took Music Appreciation last year. We did a study on how much music we all listened to over a period of three days. I placed first in it for listening to about 48 hours of music within three days, basically all the time I wasn't in school [second place was like 14 hours]. It was around THAT time that I decided I would go to school to become a recording studio engineer, while playing some music myself in a band with my best friend in the meantime as sort of a side project. I love music, so I turned that into my future career. Hopefully the music I'll be playing on the side'll be badass enough for me to get famous, but if that fails, I at least get to be the dude in the studio chilling with awesome band members and getting the heads-up on all music news and special exclusive s**t =P
