Well, this is one aimed at the guys who've had surgery.

I was just wondering about what the average on healing and whatnot usually is? I'm a bigger guy, so I know recovery will take some time. But how long was it for you to heal up to get, say, the tubes out and whatnot? Also, about how long does it take to return to work?

Thanks!

It depends what the job is... if it involves lifting, probably not for a couple of months. If it's a desk job, you may be good to go back after a couple of weeks. I had the drains removed the next day, but I believe in the US the practice is to leave them in for longer (a week?).

Personally I recovered much more quickly than I expected - I no longer needed pain relief after a week and after two I was pretty much back to normal (other than being unable to lift heavy objects/raise my arms above my head). This can vary, though.

Are you planning on surgery soon? Good luck! (You're welcome to PM me if you have any questions).
