Alright, so we all have to go through it. Summer reading. When I was first going into high school, I had to read one out of four books. The one title that caught my eye was A Farewell to Arms.
When I first started to read the book, my only thoughts were "Oh my God, this book is boring as anything." It was really hard for me to get past the beginning. As I got to the middle, however, the book really grew on me and I realized that it wasn't actually that bad. At the end, I had really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to everyone.
So I was wondering, did you ever read a book that drove you insane until way past the beginning?

I didn't like A Farewell to Arms, and neither did my English II Honors teacher. It's good in a few respects, but it's just bland to me. And teh part where they row across the gigantic lake is rather implausible for a number of reasons. I like the Tenente, though.
