EXAMPLES OF GODMODDING

Definition of Godmodding

God: An omnipotent, all powerful being in charge of the universe.
Modding: Making something different, changed, modifying.
Godmodding: The act of modifying your character into becoming an omnipotent being that no one can hurt.

Godmodding is an irksome thing to have to deal with. People like to RP so they can create characters that can do stuff that they can't do in normal life. But, no one likes having to play with someone who has a character that can't be defeated no matter what, can't get hurt, and solves every problem on just their whim. It is no fun at all to be with someone like that, so don't do it. Here are a few examples of different forms of godmodding.

Examples

For these, I will give you a different scenario, with two different characters, one a good Role Player, the other a Godmodder.

AimBotter: A person that, no matter how many or how strong the NPCs are, will always kill them within a post.
A: Greg pulled out his sword, and began defending himself against the army of barbarians. His skill for the blade was matched by the soldiers, and he felt himself being pushed back, only able to wound a few of them.
B: Bob grabbed his bow, and began unleashing a hailstorm of arrows onto the advancing barbarian horde. Whole legions fell down to his arrows, all of them too defensless to stop any of his attacks.

Downloader: A character that has any knowledge of anything, or can learn anything instantly.
A: After years in the army, Fred was a master at the bow, able to hit a bullseye hundreds of yards away. But, as he gripped the spear, he remembered how he never learned how to use it.
B: Gary, the wizard that spent his whole life devoted to only magic, grabbed the sword, and quickly decapitated his captor like an expert. He then pulled out one of his magical instruments, and instantly had the lock picked and door opened.

Matrix: A character that doesn't seem to ever be able to get damaged, either through mad dodging skills, or just pure luck.
A: Susan felt the spell hit her in the stomach, and she keeled over, the force of it having knocked the breath out of her. The suprise attack prevented her from the time she needed to prepare her protection.
B: Lindsay saw the spell being cast for only a split second, but quickly erected a powerful magical barrier around her, the spell dissapating against the shield. Then, as the arrows flew at her, every single one missed, her being one second ahead of every shot.

Psychic: Someone that uses OOC information, or information that only another character has.
A: Susan stepped into the room, and tried to find the way out, but couldn't find anything in the entire place that looked like a door. ((There is a door. The switch is just hidden on the bookshelf.))
B: Cleo entered the room, and bored with the search, decided to go off and read a book. As she grabbed the book, it pulled a switch, opening the secret door.

Twink: A character who has strengths, but no weakness, or enough of a weakness, to counter-balance the strengths.
A: Josh's spells kept flying, halting the enemy. But, the sun slowly crawled into the valley, and when the light reached him, his magic faded, and the enemies advanced.
B: The little seven-year-old kept the army at bay with his tiny wooden sword, his strength and speed allowing him to stop them all. His mere touch could destroy them, and his gaze sent fear through their bodies.

Literacy: What is it?

Literacy: The ability to read and write
Literate: One who is able to read and write; An educated person

Literacy is the term used to be able to describe things via words structured together into a sentence. It connotes this ability, and the ability to make these sentences a coherent extension of one's imagination and allow others to understand, via these words and sentences, to understand what is going on.

Literacty is NOT txt tlk. OR chatspeak. OR l33t. These are very big no-nos when it comes to RPing. Those are things done to save time, to try and reply quickly, or just to try and show how cool you are. Well, it doesn't really work. People look down on you if you try to pass this off as literacy in an RP. You MAY use it in OOC (Out Of Character), but NOT in the RP itself.

Also, make sure you know how to properly use punctuation and capitalization. Make sure to put "quotations" when your character is speaking. Capitals when it is the beginning of a new sentence. Commas when making a list, like this, and this. Or use commas when you need a little, break. (For commas, use this example(read it aloud): She has freckles on her, but she is nice. She has freckles on her but, she is nice.)

Also, try to ELABORATE. Don't just say "He walked into the room nervously, the light hurting his eyes." Make it something more like, "He paused, hand on the doorknob. He breathed in shallowly and quickly. After a second, he flung open the door and entered the room, the bright light within blinding him as he stepped forward, glancing from left to right." Try something like that. It makes it more interesting, and it allows a better chance for someone to reply to your post.
